Jumpjet Rex. Gave me a very strong Super Meatboy vibe with its super tight controls, and short-ish levels.

SUPERHOT. Great and refreshing game mechanics, juts plays suberbly and very cool to see a FPS / puzzle crossover. Very trippy story too. Too expensive for it's length though (took me about 2 hours to complete the story, haven't touched Endless Mode yet. Luckily I didn't pay anything for it, but won it here ;).

Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen
Was on the fence whether to buy the game or not. Looks ugly as hell, but the gameplay is addictive.
Great pass-time till Dark Souls 3 comes out.

For me The Swapper. I thought it's going to be another adventure game, but the game impressed in 3 ways.
The atmosphere. It's one of those few games that I actually got immersed in it. Sure, the graphics are 2D and all of it is made of clay, but the overall feeling that you are in an abandoned ship that's in space was stellar.
The puzzles. The game had clever puzzles which kept me guessing how to complete them and I passed through all of them without using any walkthroughs.
The music. The music is so good that I listen to it almost everyday. Some are calm and peaceful while others are creepy and dark.
Overall if you like atmospheric games with clever puzzle elements, then get it when you have a chance.

TIS - 100
I like programming, and this game forces me to think about solutions in different way. I just barely start playing and my brain is already in overdrive more. Spending an hour on single beginner's puzzle is already hard, but as soon as I find solution, I'm looking for better one, more optimized, faster. Even if it looks like short game (~50) problems, I'll probably spend on it few hundreds hours.

Hitman Absolution!
I haven't played much the past titles, only played the Beta for Hitman™, so I don't have much to compare, but so far I'm loving Absolution so much, only issue I have is the voice they choose for Agent 47, doesn't fit at all, imo.

I know this is mostly a PC gaming masterrace community and it's a 2013 game but i'll jump the bandwagon and go with The Last of Us. One of the best games I've ever played. Only a personal opinion though.

I just recently beat the first DLC of Pillars of Eternity, and was once again impressed by how great that game turned out to be. It's like Baldur's Gate 2, but better!
And there was one game that I kept in my backlog due to its underwhelming reviews, and that was Lands of Lore 3. Played it, and while I get why people were not happy with it, I quite enjoyed it.
In the opposite side of the spectrum, I was impressed by how they managed to make Heroes of MIght & magic 7 even more broken than it was on launch with their recent patch that made the game eat your characters progression, with no way of reverting it, meaning that if you're at the last level of one of the campaigns, the game can really screw you over by making it unbeatable. Official answer from Ubisoft is that it can't happen if you're using a new save file. Answer from me is that Ubisoft don't know what they're talking about as it happened to me with a new safe file.

The Witness. Absolutely best puzzle game in a long time! And it's a shame so many people ignore it, because they think a puzzle game is not worth that kind of money. :(

Team Fortress 2. I've tried it in 2011 before but didn't understand it after which I always have said that I'd never play and enjoy the game because it's simply not a game for me. I figured that I'd try it once again last week and actually got into it more by watching videos and doing the trainings and I've got to say that I do like the game. I haven't gotten addicted to it yet, only 7 hours in a week time (which isn't a lot in my case) but I do tend to play it whenever I'm bored, and when I do it's for 1-2 hours straight. I've been wanting to do the same with other games I said I'd never play for a long time, but havent gotten so far yet.

For me it was Remember Me. I was putting it off to play as long as I can remember, mainly due to rather underwhelming reviews, but I have to say I really enjoyed it and it turned out to be great gaming experience. The art is simply beautiful, neo-classic-cyberpunk Paris, awesome soundtrack and even story was decent.
So, what's yours? Is there any game you really want to play but keep backlogging it for unknown reasons? Or a game that you are enjoying/enjoyed more than you were expecting?
