Homemade Pizza or restaurant bought?
I haven't bought restaurant pizza since... last summer(don't really remember, maybe even earlier). Always doing pizza at home. Not only pizza but other recipes too, but mostly bean stew(I google translated the name of recipe, don't know if it's the same thing :P) with rice. Not because it's the only thing I make, but it's what I like the most.

Weird, but actually the premade one from a local supermarket was leagues better than an otherwise good pizzeria's self-made pizza. At half of it's price :D Luckily not all frozen things are disgusting (though some of the manufacturers think that they need to keep up doing that :D )

Good restaurant' pizza is probably unbeatable in quality - but in terms of price to value, homemade is the one that's above everything. Especially if you take into consideration that you can customize every single dish you make - not only your pizza, but even your stew, pasta, anything. Usually I just check a few recipes before I start to cook, but I don't necessarily follow any of them - as long as I keep the ratio of the main ingredients, if can't be that bad. Sooo I'm rather into the experimentation part of cooking :)

I heard you can go to the hardware store and buy an untreated paver stone to substitute but I don't know if I trust it.

A pizza stone or a dedicated pan that you preheat in the oven will help you get the crust you seek.
Using a top broiler to finish off the last few minutes of cooking will help you get the golden brown cheese and lightly toasted top crust that you look for.
In our convection oven at work we have pizza stones that remain there always for our flatbreads that we do. The pizza place in town I used to manage had an amazing cast iron pizza oven from about 1903. Thing was beautiful. You can also get cast iron dishes to cook them in if you prefer to do chicago style pizza or deep dish.
Either way if you use something besides the rack to hold heat and allow it to get hot during the preheating, you will get a much more crispy crust. Also, don't be afraid to adjust your Oven temp. Not all ovens are created equally, and you know yours better than those pizza makers.

Chicago Style pizza is fun but can be very messy. I'll never forget the face of my chef during our American Regional class when we made Chicago pies and I took mine out perfectly using just a rubber pie spatula. He had no idea I ran a pizza place before I went to school lol.
Just be ready for the meal you are about to make if you do make one lol. It's a lot more pizza than a standard 12-14" pie.

I do loads of cooking, although I usually just get pizza delivered. I do tend to make some homemade pizzas from scratch towards the end of summer, when there are plenty of vine-ripened tomatoes and fresh basil. So basically, only when I have a chance to make a proper pizza. In fact, I think the only thing I haven't ever made from scratch is a pie crust. Something about it just intimidates me.

I make pasta from scratch, pizza dough, gnocchi, coq au vin, basically anything you can think of, but something about a pie crust just causes some kind of visceral reaction. Regardless of the quality of the fruit, a pie hinges entirely on the crust.

You'll need to knead it for about 10 minutes, and you'll need to let the dough rest for like 30 minutes, but otherwise it's not too bad. If you don't have a pasta roller, you'll have to use a rolling pin, which can be a bit of a workout, plus you'll never get it thin enough for some styles of pasta. But you can still use it to make thicker, more rustic pastas like orecchiette.
I usually go for a thicker, rougher pasta when I do a nice pork ragu that I've slowly braised for hours in a tomato sauce. The sauce comes are really hearty, so having a hearty homemade pasta to go with it is amazing.
If you wanted something finer, like fettuccine or linguine, it'll either be a good amount of rolling, or require a pasta roller.
But homemade pasta is pretty amazing. And it a good arm workout.

I usually make my own food. Maybe 1-3 times a month I'll get something premade (costco pizza or something). I grew up eating home made meals. Polish family in USA, yeah we rarely ate fast food, never ate anything that came in a box (well you know what I mean, still ate noodles and things like that).

Make lots of stuff at home (or at least try to, lol), however not pizza. Usually I just order it somewhere, since I don't have a proper (wood-fired) oven for it.

I make a lot of stuff at home, but pizza is usually not one of them. I once made a pizza out sub par ingredients (Tortillas and provolone cheese with tomato soup) because there was no food in my house. It turned out alright.
I can still pretend it was fancy - It's a handmade tortilla-crust pizza topped with thick cuts of provolone cheese, with a tomato sauce seasoned with dried parsley, basil, oregano, minced garlic and crushed mustard seed.

I also dislike onions very much and green/red peppers a great deal.
So when I goto family get togethers, they all ways have a copule sausage & pepper dishes, which I never eat.
And of course many of the other dishes are loaded with onions. Bah, guess I'll stick to soda, chips, and cake. -_-

I only hate onions, however, with a great passion. My family knows that when I'm at home and they make a dish with some onions I won't even touch it, so they usually prepare some small portion of it onion-free, so that we can eat together :P

Same for me! Small side of pasta sauce sans onions for me. :D
Though they don't make me any onionless onion & potato soup, as I understand that just ruins the flavor and is too much effort.
I swear to god onion juice literaly burns my tongue.

Well, I have cooked a lot for myself, but never made a pizza.
I baked a lot of stuff for my girlfriend, from cookies to cakes, and she was always happy with them, telling me that they were better than the bakery's ones.
(she could have lied)

i made pizza, also bought pizza, from a good place not that fast food nonsense... bought is still better :P, but homemade is cheaper. And i prefer quality over quantity :P

Hey fellow gamers,
Dupetank(Tankmaster) here. So today I made Pizza. At home. By myself. I know scary right?
I've always bought pizza from the likes of Domino's, Pizza Hut, Little Ceasar's, and Papa John's. Never did I think that I could make one myself. Cause I mean, who can rival their deliciousness? Well today I learned. I can.
I woke up this morning with one thing on my mind. I'm hungry. And a small craving for pizza. I scraped through my wallet and managed to scrounge up $8. Not good enough. To feed me and my sheeplike(cause they can't do anything for themselves) brothers I would need at least 2-3 pizzas.
Then I thought. Wait. Maybe I can MAKE THE PIZZA'S!!!!!
This in itself is a novel method of thought amongst me and my brothers. So then I hit the web, skimming through websites, and Google pages looking how to go about making pizza. I managed to wrap my head around the general idea and ingredients. But the scary part was the oven. I've never in my life used an oven. Or even thought of it.
Of course it was always there. But we(I) always used it to store random things like pots and pans(hidden cases of beer).
The process was shaky and full of nervousness. My brothers hung around behind me, practically breathing on my neck, and occasionally looked over my shoulder to see how it was going along.
This was the result.
This result made me change my attitude about restaurant bought foods and homemade foods.
To be sure there shall be more homemade food than takeout at my place from now on.
SO my question to you guys(and some gals) is. Do you make stuff at home? Specifically, have you made pizza at home before? If so, how did it go? Also any other suggestions on what I should take on next?
