I was pretty active
This has to be a troll post, right? Yes it is normal; if you don't enter giveaways you will not win any.

Thanks for the replies. I always thought I'd exploit this website with entering too much. Almost after 7 years I've read the FAQ now and learned my lesson... how stupid can one be. Instead I've used my time on trading here for the most part. I have some tripe A giveaways which I'd like to use to "also" increase my level here but I'd prefer to make it private. I think I'll just invite everyone who replied here then if you guys are okay with it.

You will need at least five entrants for private our group giveaways to count towards your cv, otherwise it won't increase your level.

If you really want to do that, then the easiest way is adding people to your whitelist and creating a whitelist only giveaway. That way you don't need to invite anyone, they will be able to see the giveaway, and no-one else will be able enter. If you've a small whitelist though, don't forget you need 5 entries to get that precious CV.

Check if your AAA games have reduced value so you won't be surprised that you only have a couple of bucks of CV instead of $35. You can do so by typing games' names in the giveaway creation section โ if a game has a star next to it, the value of CV will be reduced, if it has two stars you won't gain CV at all.
Note that giving away just for the sake of levelling up might be disappointing because it doesn't guarantee you will win, it just increases your chances a bit and give you access to a little more giveaways. And what thoughtfulhippo said is true: you need at least 5 entries to get CV, unless it's a public giveaway!
Personally I use whitelist for things you want to do now โ you can add and delete anyone you like, whenever you want, you're sure the link won't be leaked and it's less hassle because you only click whitelist button instead of sending them links in private.
Also I can recommend to enter only games you want to play, otherwise you'll end up with pile of garbage in your library that you cannot delete as long as you use Steamgifts.
If you want to increase your chances of winning, here are thing you might want to do:

There's nothing wrong with entering for giveaways. I still only enter for games that I actually want to play, and I have more entered than you in the space of just over 1 year.
Unlucky 7 is for people like you. You should request to join. They have a thread in the groups section. ;)

Number of wins is not a very good measure of your luck. Here, check this:
https://www.steamgifts.com/stats/personal/community
The "Luck per Month" graph should have a statement like "Overall, you've been lucky, and won xx less gifts than estimated since you first joined.". If your number is well below 5 (I kind of picked an arbitrary number here; how unlucky this number is also depends on other things), them, yes, you are unlucky.

There is place for people like you :)

Luck might turn for you, if you join.
If you join right now, you might be able to make a wish...

This.
I also entered as much as I could at first. This very quickly became entering as much as I could of games I would actually play. Now, it is "enter as much as I can of games that are in my wishlist that i would actually play."
If I hadn't won anything after a year I might have bailed.

I'm not 100% positive but I believe there is a way to check your luck built right into Steam Gifts?
(I'm autistic & I don't always communicate clearly / get my point across. In other words I'm not trying to be sarcastic.) ๐
I don't have a screen shot handy but just go to your account. Click on my stats & go to community. It should show you "Luck per Month".
That's an example of mine. I've been here for 6 months & I have 8,826 entries ATM with 21 gifts won. 9 fewer than estimated based on "luck per month". So I have "bad luck" according to the site.
It may just be the # of entries you have. As I see you have 596 entries which is very few for the time you've been a member. I don't know the definition of "very active" here but based on my looking at other members profiles & such it seems like you don't have many entries by comparison for the time frame you've been a member. You may also just only enter low percentage to win GA's such as AAA games, popular games, expensive games or highly wish listed games for example.
If you want more information you can use ESGST to get estimated percentage chances to win. It also can give you average statistics under your giveaways entered, etc. I highly recommend it. That might help with giving you more insight into the actual chances to win. Rather than looking at the number of entries, days remaining & trying to calculate it yourself.
If you have any questions or would like a link to the ESGST thread, etc. just ask. ๐
My apologies for the length; I tend to be very effusive! ๐คฆโโ๏ธ๐
I hope that helps answer your question! ๐ค
Edit: It looks like you got quite a few replies while I was typing this up!
You seem genuine & polite so I'll throw you on my white list as well. The group recommendations others have made are also great!
I still highly recommend ESGST (Enhanced Steam Gifts & Steam Trades extension / user script) if you would like more insight into your statistics. It really depends how in depth you want to go. I'm a numbers person; so I jumped into the extension within a day or 2 of joining. It takes a good amount of time to fully configure it the way you want but it saves a lot of time in the long run if you use the site a lot.
Regardless; I'm glad you're getting answers & hope that between all of them you figure out the questions you want answered. ๐

Thanks a bunch for the nice replies!. I've learned a bunch of thinks thanks to you guys including "white list" and reduced value of gifts in general. It was very helpful and I do appreciate it. I'll keep all that in mind for the next time I create giveaways.

Your points regenerate so just keep entering. With enough entries your luck will eventually work out in your favour. As others have suggested, joining forum giveaways will increase your odds as well as joining certain groups. Best of luck with your giveaways. :)

It took me 6 months and I think around 1000 entries to win my first game and the winner didn't send it. Then I won and received my first game a couple months later. I started making giveaways and becoming more active in the discussions and everything started to pick up from there.
It's all based on odds and with only 596 entries, you are not likely to win unless most of the giveaways you enter have less than 500 entries and that is highly unlikely. Your best chance of winning is to find giveaways with less entries and you can do that by either raising your level or joining invite only or group giveaways. Even at level 5 or 6, your chances of winning are not very high, but they would be substantially better than level 1. There will be less users entering each giveaway at higher levels, but there are also less giveaways created for the higher levels. Your best chance to win something would be to read through all the discussion and look for invite only giveaways or join a group. The Unlucky 7 group would be a good place to start and there are plenty of ratio based groups where you have to give back a certain amount to the group before or after you win if you are interested in doing that.
Edit: If you are interested in seeing stats about how many users there are at each level and how many giveaways are created for each level or invite only, group, or whitelist, you can see that here. There are links on the left side of the page to view different stats.

I'm not sure if you know about or are interested in the stats page for SG, but I just added a link to the bottom of my previous comment if you want to check it out.

I think this site is really good for many reasons, but one important lesson it teaches, is how low your chances are when playing luck-based games, such as lottery and casino games.
Here you have a lot more chances for any giveaway you enter than those games, and yet you can only win once a month if you're lucky and use all your points daily. Sometimes you may win 2, sometimes zero, it all depends on luck. Even if you always had a 50% chance it may happen that you would never win.
I'm not sure since when I'm here, but I've entered 84541 giveaways and won 193 times and I'm pretty happy with those results.
Unfortunately, your activity is not as good as you think if you really want to win something, but you can help it by increasing your level and therefore be able to enter better giveaways with more chances to win, but don't expect much if you're not willing to spend much more time than you've spent so far.
Good luck! :]

I joined this website almost 7 years ago meanwhile but I haven't won a single game and I was pretty active. I wondered if it was a normal case or if I just have bad luck.
