Hey there SG dwellers!

We just recently relaunched our group Movie Addicts as Movie Addicts Club.
What is Movie Addicts Club? It's the groupā€™s way of rewarding those who show effort in the group, whether it's by making good GAs, reviews, participating in events, etc. Our vision is to have a really unique experience being part of Movie Addicts and we consider the Club as a way to make this vision come to life. As a member of M.A.C all your actions will give you Club Points (CP) and at the end of the month the top leading members will be able to win our in-group prizes!

1st Event is over! We had a lot of fun and we hope all the winners will enjoy their new games :)

An awesome train. Thanks everyone. <3.

And for the group: I really liked group rules actually but I like to watch movies&series and think about them, not to write or read other people's thinking. I only like to live it inside me. And there are quite a few groups for me that having mandatory monthly giveaways so I'll skip this one. But looks like a really neat group, keep on.

The matrix - this instant cult classic can't be ignored by someone who calls themselves a movie addict. The movie that reinvented how action scenes are supposed to look introducing new filming techniques like slow motion bullets and movements with rotative cameras will definitely entertain you. The innovative history not only is fresh and thought provocative but it's also reasonable enough for you to think "what if" for the rest of your life.

If for some reason you never watched it do yourself a favor and do it. You'll have your mind blown and it will change your perception of reality. 10/10

I know my ratio is not stellar (I've been hoarding cdkeys to give at the right moment for a while) but my I join you? I sure am addicted to movies and this may be the ideal new group to dump my hoarded keys ;)

Thanks for your consideration

I like your review. Your ratio is not terrible, and if your reviews can maintain the quality of the one you had here, I'll be very happy. Your review is perhaps a little short, but you do explain everything nicely. Thank you and we'll let you know.

I agree with most of your review. Though I'm not sure I will give it a perfect 10, but very close. The other 2.. well, they're not on par.
However, I will say I like the architect scene from the 2nd movie that everyone hated back then and the movie in general wasn't the big disappointment that most people made it be. For me at least. I can't say that about the 3rd - it was pretty bad. :)

Well, you might figured it out by now, we think you're a good fit. Invitation sent!

Hi once again, Thank you for inviting me! I'm very happy with this news after a not so good day.

I hope this is the beginning of a very nice group of virtual friends who share the same interests. I'll be moving to Switzerland tomorrow to work so I'll definitely need them! :)

About the other 2 movies: Yup, you're right. They are not up to par. Not terrible because they do have nice action scenes and great CGI (even by today's standards) but the original story is way more convincing.

Once again, thank you for the great news. I may be creating some GA's right away.

The movie sound interesting, but I'm not sure what type of movie it is. Maybe you can tell us a bit more about the story and acting. Maybe a stand-out scene that makes the movie wonderful for you? Thanks for your efforts, and I hope to see more.

the story is about a 20-year-old medical major student who is on his way to become a doctor because his father tell him so. But since his father's sudden death, he kind of loses direction and doesn't know what to do. And here comes the changing point : If he catches up with the train to Warsaw he would finally become a loyal communist .If not ,he would surprisingly be in opposition party.
Also another possibility is he finishes his academy and becomes a normal doctor.

The title Blind Chance, to me, seems to show that everything is a contingency.
we always think that it's our decision that make us who we are.
But is it possible that everything is manipulated by chances? We don't know.
And that's the funniest thing,
because we only live one life and there is no turning back for us to examine everything.
Also this movie uses a lot of metaphor-like storytelling skills that worth dwelling on .
recommend for everyone that can endure its not-so-good resolution/quality (it's from 1987).

About the review
Undisputed 3 Redemption
One of the best movies I've seen. Best fighting even if it looks fake in some scenes. Epic final fight. Nice ending.

I think you have the beginning of a good review here. I'd like you to give a bit more details. Perhaps briefly describe what the movie is about, what genre it is in, what the acting is like, etc. Assume that we don't know anything about the movie. Thanks for your interest, and I hope to learn more about the movie.

Since its been ages since I've last seen it, I'll just talk about something I've seen more recently: V for Vendetta (watched it before but recently watched it again). Like you suggested I'll assume you know nothing about it.
It's a dystopian film meaning the setting is a world that has become quite horrible to live in in an attempt by the government to make it a utopia or the "perfect world". The government is neofascist. It seeks to get rid of all abnormalities and entities that may threaten the system such as homosexuals, religions and their sacred texts and anyone who protests against the government.
The people are fed propaganda (crap) on the news and the ironic part is that most of the people don't buy it anyways.
Most people are too scared to do anything because thise that do protest are made to disappear.
From this mess rises "V", a vigilante activist who is both a mastermind and has mad fighting skills. He seeks revenge on the people who've wronged him by killing them one by one.
The best part, however, is how he, a single "man", manages to take on the entire system and make a change. The Guy Fawkes mask as a result (I think) has become pop culture and is now used by activists around the world to protest various issues (mostly governments not listening to the needs of the people).
There are lots of literary themes and whatnot but I will not go down that alley because I have to do more than enough of that already in high school ELA.
V takes the power from the government and puts it where it belongs: in the hands of the people.
"People shouldn't fear the government, the government should fear the people." - V
8/10
Some of the fighting is just plain bs, especially the final scene where he kills an entire entourage of men with guns using throwing knives.
A few plot holes.

Also just rematched Dragonball and DBZ over the summer and it ws worth every moment. Amazing how it's so old but still keeps its touch. Brought back a lot of memories.

As for movies in general, tbh I don't watch too many anymore as I prefer reading instead. I do watch the occasional movie here and there though.

I wouldn't call myself a movie addict. I watch movies, but lately I haven't been enjoying as many movies as I used to. I don't know if my tastes have changed or movies in general are getting less enjoyable. I rarely buy movies anymore because I haven't found any that I'd want to re-watch, so I stick to renting.

The movie industry isn't helping themselves with unskippable ads and invasive DRM on Blu-ray disks. Two of the last three movies I rented wouldn't play on a Blu-ray player I bought in 2009 because of some new encryption BS that my player doesn't support. As usual, this movie wouldn't let me skip the ads, but I could fast forward. I get to main menu, go pop my popcorn and grab a beer. I come back, and I start watching the movie. Three minutes into the movie, the screen goes black, the audio cuts out and there's a message saying this disk is unauthorized for playback on this device and gives a website for more information. I go to the website, it isn't much help, so I turn to Google. It turns out it's some audio encryption to block pirating movies, but I'm not a fucking pirate, this is a fucking disk I rented from Netflix which I'm playing on a Blu-ray player I bought.

Apparently you this encryption used to allow playback on devices that didn't support it, but now some disks are enforcing it and not allowing you to play the movie on older players that don't support it. I don't keep my player plugged into the network because I don't want it sending my watching habits to whoever. I plugged it in to check for a firmware update, but there isn't one. I try playing the movie with the player plugged into the network, it still doesn't work.

The encryption isn't doing much to stop pirates because a lot of the links in my search are turning up ways to break the encryption and copy the disk. My options now were, become a criminal and make a copy of the disk without the DRM to watch a movie I rented or go buy a new Blu-ray player, at 1am. Then I remembered I have a Blu-ray drive in my PC, so I just downloaded a trial copy of a PC Blu-ray player and watched it on my PC. At this point my popcorn is cold and stale and my beer is warm and flat, and I couldn't enjoy the movie after going through all that shit.

The next movie I rented wouldn't even go to the main menu after the 6 or so minutes of unskippable ads. When a disk doesn't allow me to skip ads, I just put the disk in and go do other things, come back in 10 minutes or so and it'll be on the menu. This time the screen is just black, no error or anything. I restart the disk, this time sit through the ads, then I briefly see a red screen pop up and the screen goes black. I'm thinking the disk is either bad or I've run into more DRM. I'm still within the 30-days on that trial software, so I go pop it in my PC and it plays. That red screen I briefly saw before the disk stopped playing was some screen warning me to not pirate movies. I do a bit of searching and find out once again, it's some DRM that's only penalizing paying customers that don't go out and buy a new player every time they add some new DRM to their disks, because the pirates have already cracked. At this point I'm thinking since they're treating me like a pirate, I might as well become one. I watch the movie on my PC again. The screen is smaller, but at least I have a good surround sound system on my PC although not as good as the setup in my living room. This time I didn't have stale popcorn and warm beer, but once again it ruined my watching experience.

After that experience, before I get my popcorn and beer, I make sure the movie plays first. Luckily the last movie I rented worked, but if it happens again I don't know what I'm going to do. Now that the 30-day trial on the PC software is up, I can't resort to watching them on my PC. I'm being treated as a pirate for renting movies so I don't feel like buying a new Blu-ray player and giving these assholes money for treating me like a criminal.

Sorry for the long rant, and thanks for the train.

Can't agree more. I pretty much only watch older movies on our pay-channel and on flights around the world. or new ones in the cinema. I'm not sure that DRM is helping anyone. I remember buying Two Worlds on PC many years ago, and due to some bug on the game, I had to actually go to gamecopyworld to download a crack to be able to play a game I purchased. At least games now have got their DRM in their ecosystem (like Steam or uPlay), so there's less reason to not buy. I always assumed that watching movies on Netflix would be a more painless solution than renting a DVD/Blu-ray, but that's dependent on your Internet connection. Pirating movies and TV series is substantially easier and ends up being the better consumer experience. That's not the way it should be. I can't say that my opinion is exactly widely supported, but I think that when you rent a DVD, you should be able to play the movie without having to get your system updated to play the latest encryption and having to sit through tons of trailers.. Give me the pirate experience while allowing me to pay for it. That sounds wrong, yes? In the end, if the viewer wants to watch the movie without paying for it, he/she will. Don't punish your customers by making the experience terrible for them.

I know this isn't a review of a movie or TV series per se, but I think that I see enough passion on you to give you a chance (with some of the other candidates), if you're interested in joining. Let me know.

Hi guys! Like it has been said before, you don't have to be a professional critic to join our group nor you have to be fluent in English. You just need to passionate about movies/series and sharing (and of course receiving ;P). So, if you meet the requirements and you're interested in our group just write something, casually or in depth, about a movie or a series you like (or dislike) to be considered. Good luck everyone, and enjoy the ride! :)

P.S. Bumps for the glory of M.A.C!
