Well, thanks to those votes games appeared earlier on sale or were repeated if you missed it before, so it wasn't THAT bad.
But yeah, Valve made more fuzz about it than it was worth. And it looks like same thing happened to GreenLight (GabeN himself said GL is failure-ish and didn't worked like they wanted) and Steam Cards (most people sell them, few "rich kids" buy them, "nobody" have fun with them).

So, it turns out the next sale will have one game a day, where the price will be decreased by the number of your current Steam level (though I imagine that it would cap before someone hits L100 once that becomes possible).
So, if you are some little Level 5 user who has been selling all your cards, I hope you like 5% discounts on several titles, while those crazy people who bought every card they could will be getting 50% or more off.
