You look around the field, looking for signs of life. You halt as you hear a cough to your left. You investigate and find a man lying on his back, sword protruding from his torso, coughing up blood. His armor shows him to be fighting for the other side.

You head back to camp. As you move closer, you see the camp in the distance. Unfortunately, you also see raiders. 3 of them. They haven't spotted you yet. You can slip away unnoticed or fight.
In a fight, the battle will begin with rolls. One for you, one for each of your enemy. Highest number attacks first, followed by the next highest and so on. On each turn to attack, I roll again for the attack. 1-7 is a failed hit.
8-15 normal attack. 16-20 is a critical hit. Whatever number you get is also the amount of damage you do.

The trek is uneventful. Nothing living crosses your path as you move north. After an hour's trek, you find a stream.

If it is currently in the morning or the afternoon, I will follow the flow of the stream. If it is in the evening, I will find something that can be used to make a makeshift fishing rod / net (besides my staff and water skin) and I will cast a line into the steam.
(I assume this adventure was started in the morning. Maybe I am wrong about this assumption.)
If there is a place with a lot of turbulence along the stream, I will fill my water skin there to prevent harmful bacteria.
Of course if the stream is disgusting, or if there is something off about the stream, I will not fish or fill my water skin.

Finding that fishing without bait is futile, and that the night is nigh, I look for decent sized sticks and leaves to make a makeshift shelter, and stones for a small fire ring. 2 days pass peacefully, with no signs of raiders. The caravanners take a shine to you and tell you about the city of Pyreview., the throne of the King of Belismus. When King Caleb took the throne, the realm experienced a decade of peace and prosperity. The trade was good and life itself was good. However, since the last few months, strange events have weakened King Caleb's grasp on the kingdom of Belismus. Rumors speak of a wizard who wishes to usurp the throne. A powerful necromancer who has raised the dead against the king. One of the caravanners asks you about your soldier garb. You admit you have no memory of what happened prior to waking up in a field of corpses. However, you are certain that you will find answers at Pyreview.
On the 3rd day, the weather takes a bad turn. Snow begins to fall in heavy sheets. In a few hours, the snow is knee high. The going is slow as the caravanners shovel the snow to make a path for the wagons. You ask to help but the caravan leader gives you your staff back
"We're going slower than I'd like to. At this rate, it is inevitable that the raiders will find us sooner or later. Judging by that staff, you have some skill in magic. Protect us. We can do the shoveling."

I originally thought that it meant that if people die in the battle that they would be buried in the snow because it was paired next to the sentence "Protect us." The head of your staff glows red, as power courses through it. You know many of the basic spells that can help you attack and defend.

Depending on the distance between the riders and the caravan, I either use a War Cry to boost my magical potential (If that is what it is used for), then if the enemy is close enough together and if I won't hit the caravan, I cast a Flame Chain Lightning. hopefully hitting the lot of them; or I just cast Flame Chain Lightning if the riders are in close enough proximity if I can't cast two subsequent spells.
If I end up using two spells, and War Cry does not increase the potential of my attacks, I use Shield.
I don't use Shield if I can't fire through it with my attacks.
If I end up not using either War Cry or Shield, I use another offensive attack.
If Flame Chain Lighting is cast, and the enemies are close enough to get hit, I strike the center enemy so the lightning arcs to the enemies around the initial target.
I replace the spell Flame Chain Lightning with Fireball if I would hit allies or the raiders are far enough from each other that the spell would have limited effect.
If I end up using Fireball, I assume that I can only target one enemy with the attack, therefor I strike the enemy that is the furthest to the right bringing the group to curve to the left away from the impact of the fireball (I am not striking in the center because the group will then split to both sides allowing the caravan to be flanked). If I can strike multiple foes with Fireball, I still go with the same technique but I fire my attack so I can take out multiple enemies instead of just the one.
If I use two offensive attacks, and those attacks both ending being fireball, I shoot the second projectile where I expect the group of raiders to go to once I lead them away from the center on my first attack (I plan to be able to strike multiple targets on knowing their path).
If I am able to cast more than two spells in a row for some reason, I automatically make them fireballs to finish off the raiders. If I can't cast a spell more than a few times in a day, I switch over to Frozen Shard.
I also do my best to keep an eye out for more raiders, especially if none of the raiders attacking here have either a war horn in hand or on their person.
I am also curious what kind of spell Frozen Shard is. Does it cast from the ground, or do I shoot a Frozen Shard projectile?
Is Shield a personal shield or a party shield? Can I shoot out through my own shield?
Does Tremor harm myself?
How far can I Teleport?
How long does it take for me to cast a spell?
How many spells can I cast in a day?
This might be a little overwhelming.

The raiders pour over the hill but are still not close enough, so you quickly cast War Cry to boost your power. Since, you are still learning the trade of magic, you do not yet know how to combine two spells. However, you place the caravan to your back and cast flame. You manage to set 2 raiders on fire. Their horses, driven mad with fear, rear and throw their riders. Before the others can overwhelm you and the caravan, you cast Chain Lightning. Blue tendrils erupt from your stave and strike one raider after the other until nothing but smoking corpses remain. The raiders did not expect to find a wizard among the caravans and so your attack caught them unawares. No war horn was sounded. You are safe for now.
The caravaners manage to calm the 2 remaining horses. Your chain lightning killed the other 3. The leader comes up to you. "Nicely done but we're hardly safe. That was just a scouting party. The main party will soon miss their absence in a few hours. We need to get moving but the snow is thicker than expected. May be you can melt the snow."

As a wizard in training, and the fact that I know my strength, I am reserving 4 of my 7 remaining spells in case of a surprise attack while we are traversing through the snow. I use my Fireball spell to clear the path through the snow. If I have time to charge my Fireball spell, I do so to clear the ground more effectively.
Does charging my spells take more mana to cast, meaning I cast less spells?
What is the rate of power to time with a charge?
How long can I charge for?
I use Flame Chain Lightning if it is more effective and it does not harm my companions.
Does Flame Chain Lightning only attack viable targets?
Does Aura of Wellbeing also rejuvenate people as well as healing them? If so, I would like after I cast Fireball (once or twice depending on how charging works) to cast Aura of Wellbeing to heal those who are digging in the front to help them endure the monotonous digging while I rest myself for future combat.

Aura of Wellbeing can only heal wounds. Rejuvenation can only be acquired through sleep and food.
1 spell regenerates in 1 hour of rest. You can take potions that can speed up the spell regeneration or learn new passive skills that do the same. Partial recharge is not possible. If your sleep is broken, any spell in the process of being recharged is lost. A spells recharged prior to this, are kept.
You cast another charged fireball, clearing the path further. for 6 spells to recharge, 6 hours of sleep is needed. The caravan leader approaches.

Startle awake, panting heavily in response to the shattering sky. Waking drowsily, and more, freezing and tired, survey the rocky alcove.
Rub eyes and face, trying to bring both warmth and alertness from the fog of sleep. Eyes blinking slowly, look outward at the storm. 'How long have I been sleeping... I hope Father wasn't right about storms lasting weeks.', thinking as a waterfall of rain has begun to form over the mouth of the cave.
Sigh, looking over to where Father was resting soundly... and has now disappeared! Senses jump into overdrive with what little energy is available, as joints and muscles begin to stiffen and twitch for action. The cave is small; Father could only have left the cave, but for what purpose?
Sit up into a sitting position, rocking and rubbing body for warmth and a distraction. 'Where would he have gone? Was this all a trick? Oh no, what if he's a traitor? Maybe that's why my Mother died... if she even was my mother. This is all a sick joke. I don't have any powers, or maybe if I do, what can I do? Freezing in this stupid cave from some kind of never-ending monsoon,' losing moments in thoughts.
The Kha'nishan mark begins to ache, rubbing it in response. 'This stupid thing... you could be real useful right about now...'. Exhaling heavily in frustation, stand up to stretch what joints and muscles remain. Begin pacing around the cave, hoping for the man to return before finally deciding to journey outside.
Pull cloak over head, stepping through wall of rain hiding the mouth of the cave. 'I hope this is all worth ---' KRA-KOW! Thunder rolls in, preceded by a streak of blue fire nearby. '--- it. I doubt he would even be able to hear me shouting, which probably isn't a good idea if this is some 'secret' journey.'

You exit the cave and the rain hits you in the face, like a wave of bricks. You bow your head, to stop the hammering of the raindrops. You try to find your father but have no tracking skills, nor a trail to follow. You could shout, though nobody would hear anyway. You walk a few steps away from the mouth of the cave and warmth and light of the fire begins to dwindle. A few seconds out and you're already soaked and cold. You keep walking and suddenly, your right foot dangles over the edge. You quickly balance yourself and hug the wall. You forgot you were on the mountain. After you gather your breath, you realize that trying to find your father in this storm is like trying to find a needle in a haystack in the dark, without hands. You re-enter the cave to find your father tending to the fire. He looks up at you, as if you had never left.
