So I just had 4 giveaways end, and 2 users had un-activated wins, this is on top of the last giveaway I did having a winner with one win not redeemed. I'm noticing this becoming more and more common. How often on average do you guys who give stuff away find yourself re-rolling winners?

Have I just been unlucky lately, or is it starting to become a bit of a problem?

How often do I send up a request, or how often is it accepted? :P

I request rerolls mostly to verify if the user served the suspension time for an infringement of the rules already. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Most of the time, the user is clear so it gets rejected.

I generally do giveaways for level 3 or higher now, which cuts down on this some. Of my 264 giveaways, I've submitted 12 reroll requests, 7 were granted, 3 were denied for suspensions already being served, 1 I canceled after messaging with the winner and them activating the missing games, and 1 I cancelled after not getting a response after 4 days, as I wasn't going to be around to send the game if it was denied, so decided to just send it (just noticed that that person is now permanently suspended).

I also tend to make a judgment call on my own sometimes if someone has a single very old not activated / multiple win situation, as I usually assume they either already served their suspension or learned the lesson if things since then are all in order.

78 requests out of 582 giveaways. Practically all of my rerolls nowadays are for Level 0 public giveways. The rest are SGTools-protected, so no rerolls needed.

I have almost 1400 giveaways and I have requested a new winner 14 times. So about once every 100 giveaways. Always because the winner already owned the game or was kicked out of the group before the giveaway ended. All of the requests were granted.

So far I haven't requested any rerolls.
Just curious--would you reroll if I won your giveaway?
I regifted something I won ~2 years ago, in direct violation of the rules, and landed myself a 30-day ban which turned into a permanent ban when my account value was put into question. After a couple months and a support ticket I was back, but I have that one unactivated win on my account. I have absolutely no excuse for regifting; I blatantly thought I could get away with it. I've learned my lesson since then.

I would request it just to double check, but support wouldn't grant it because you've already served the suspension

Given that I probably wouldn't know about the suspension I would request a reroll. Support would then inform me of it, and it would be fine.

Support would deny it. You can only request a reroll if the inactivation is less than a month old.

Surely they would mention the fact that a suspension had already been served in their denial of it?

If it is within a month? Then yes, their answer has this info, because they deny the reroll.

So if it's over a month old it's a denial without a reason?

The reason is that the rule-breaking is too old. You can try if the user has a tons of inactivations, especially if those are the majority of their wins. In this case, they get forwarded for a perma. But even then, I had a 6+ time rule-breaker who I had to send the key to, because all of those served their increasing suspensions.

No , it's not, you're absolutely correct that if the infraction has not been served yet your reroll would be granted. The 1 month thing means that even if the suspension was served but the infraction is not over 1 month old you would still be granted your reroll.

Ooh, okay. Thanks for clearing that up.

I have been denied a reroll for a 3-week old infraction that was served already.

Then support made a mistake in this case. I've always been granted rerolls in the 1 month time period even if the infraction had been served already.

I didn't. I got denied for that or for the rule-breaking being more than a month old, even if he wasn't caught.

How weird. I've been granted rerolls for infractions over a year old that had not been served their suspensions yet.

I checked your tickets, but haven't been able to find the one you're talking about. Most of the times when you were denied a reroll, it was because the user has already served a suspension.

Wasn't one where it was said it was too old? I remember something like that, this is why I don't bother with any of the 30+ day old inactivations any more. Even though I'd really like to reroll on accounts of 2-3 month old ones sometimes, especially with repeat offenders.

There's one where a support member said that the winner "...hasn't reoffended since the first suspension over a year ago" - in that case the winner has already served a suspension.

Well, I always said my memory isn't the greatest.
So… can I send tickets for reroll if the inactivation is a few months old, if I can assume the guy wasn't caught yet?

Yes, you can send tickets like that. We will reject the reroll request if the winner has already served a suspension and it happened more than a month ago. In other cases the reroll will be approved.

I've gotten a few through that were slightly longer than a month (with multiple infractions on the account) because the user was never reported/identified in the first place.

A few days ago my answer would have been never, now though I had to do two rerolls since they had already won the games though they were the ones who brought it to my attention in both cases.

Seems like I've been a bit on the lucky side with my winners. I've only had to reroll once, but that was because the winner had won the same game a few hours before, and forgot to remove other entries.

I only had to do it twice for one game (both winners already got the whole pack (game+artwork)) but after that I haven't had to do it anymore.

Often! Feels like at least 1 out of every 10 is a rulebreaker.

163 reroll tickets, but around 100~ something got accepted (since some already got suspended for those infractions before).

Mostly I'm too lazy aswell (also don't want to waste support's time), but if it's someone I never ever saw before with barely any comments, or not too many wins or whatever, and they have a 2-3 year old non-activation, I still make a reroll ticket. I did get a few suspended for an ancient one. :p

Ooh yes, I know that feeling.. That's why I rarely give away dlc's or those games that has the API bug. When I do I make sure to write in the description something like 'Please check if you already own the game/dlc *link*' with bold letters :P works out way better. (for those that are reading ofc)

On SGTools-protected giveaways, I never have to re-roll. I like that, because I like the giving-away part, not the checking part.

I request re-rolls from support whenever there is a recent (2-3 months) unactivated game; of those, probably half are granted. I did have one where the infraction was recent and they gave me a re-roll but also said that the suspension had been given and served. I would have waived the re-roll in that case if I'd had a chance.

I've also asked in cases where a winner had several games unactivated, spread over a long period of time. I had to send one a key in the end - I forget if it was 5 games or 6 that were in violation - and was pretty unhappy about it.

Only 27 out of 1190 re-rolled, so not to bad. I tend to do private group, higher level public (5+) and SGtool protected GAs to cut down the odds of getting a rule breaker.

I've rerolled twice in the past 15 giveaways because both winners hadn't activated 3+ games to their accounts in the past 6 months.
Generally speaking I would forget to check sgtools before though, so I don't know if it's increased, but sounds about average.

Also sgtools seems to have a hard time checking people with 3k+ games. Sometimes I give up checking if I've tried for a few hours with constant errors (coming back at a later time rarely seems to do anything, since people with less games will load, just not with a massive library).

60 reroll requests so far :> but only 25 in SGv2, so I don't think it's becoming a "bigger problem" (or may it just be me mostly leaving low level public gibs because of all the leeches and rulebreakers... idk ;p

Only when the person lets me know they already own the game. So I think 2 times. For me it is about the gifting so if they don't activate the game the universe will find a way to sort them out.

So far I made 43 GAs and never rerolled. My first GA thought, the winner was a rule-breaker. I didn't notice at that time (it was my first day here) so I sent the gift and then they regifted it. After that I never encountered any other problem.

I don't bother with rerolls unless the winner tells me they already have the game or something. No patience to go digging through profiles after every giveaway. Besides, most of my gibs are around lv5, which helps weed out the rulebreakers.

Never had to do a reroll, but I did have to redo a GA due to the gift in my Steam inventory being region restricted—it never said so when I looked at it, so it was a bug on Steam's part for that particular game.

Sadly, my GA have about 20% choose a winner with un-activated wins. :(
