Gurren Lagann, My Hero Acedemia is still going, but it's already been the type of story that will stick with me. Code Geass, Death Note, the manga of Kenichi Mightiest Disciple, anime ends long before anything really meaningful happens.

Was very tempted to be a troll and say "Avatar the Last Airbender"...(knowing that most weebs don't consider it to be "anime" but anyway I could use some good karma right now)

So here's what I would honestly consider the anime that have left me with lasting impressions:

• Code Geass
• Sword Art Online
• One Piece
• Ranma 1/2
• Log Horizon
• Fairy Tail
  (and Avatar was pretty good too, if you are inclined to count that as anime)

Take these with a grain of salt. My tastes don't tend to be the same as everyone else... for instance, I didn't think that "Attack on Titan" was bad but didn't like the art style personally and felt like the story was way over-hyped (but if that's your thing, you'd probably also like "Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress")

Plenty of other good ones, but since I can barely remember Trigun and Slayers at this point, I can't really say "lasting" impression (although I remember I was very fond of both). I would say FMA but the ending was weird and I still haven't gotten around to Brotherhood yet.

Edit: If you like more drama / less action then I would also say "Spice and Wolf" and maybe "Fruits Basket"

If you like "low key" space sci fi in the slightest, you definitely should watch Planetes

I don't really watch animes at all. But my girlfriend is or was at least a big fan of anime. And she got me to watch Wolf's Rain and Deathnote, both of which I really liked.

009-1. An excellent posthumous anime from 2006 based on a Shotaro Ishinomori's (creator of Cyborg 009 and Kamen Rider) 70's manga. It shows an extremely well-made narrative with a surprising end through only 13 episodes which puts some anime blockbusters (coughNaruto&Bleachcough) to shame.

Well, all my favs have been already mentionned.

Maybe check : Terror in Resonance (Zankyou No Terror)

Beautiful anime and be prepared for the tears :3

Started ACCA recently, it's really good for now, also, rewatching Death Parade, i've stopped at the first episode back then because it was... hard to watch, can't explain exactly why, but seemed pointless (the pain of the Darts game), but then everything is explained and now i can't stop watching it.
