Hey.
I registered 2 years ago and haven't been active at all. Now I have 300P which is a lot I guess, but I fail to realize whats the point of entering a giveaway when my chance to win it is like 1 in 1000 most of the time? Seems to be totally not worth the effort.

I know it's great if you're like level 10 because then there are like 40 people per giveaway, I'm asking about benefits for me :D

Just be persistent, I'm here for little more then month and I've already won two games, regardless the small odds. Plus if you level a bit and/or scanning the forum(since we are here I understand you do) you'll get to the giveaways with much better odds. Creating a detailed wishlist would help you to reduce spend time to almost none.

I don't understand. The benefits are you getting free games. The risks are literally nothing. All it takes is the infinitesimal effort of clicking a button. You probably won't win, but you can enter a lot and it costs you nothing.

The point of you entering low chance giveaways is that you still might win.

you get, granted a very small, chance to win a game someone else has bought with money that they probably put effort into obtaining, and the cost for you its to click on a green button, Im sorry if thats not enough for you :c

There's no point at all. Everyone knows that in the end I will win the GA they're entering for...

And that's the sad, sad truth. If it's not Zel winning anything I enter, it's bots and regifters.

But I blame Zel now for Spacecat not showing up for me anymore.

BAD Zel. BAD! Let that damned cat out of it's cage for others!

let's lookat it this way - would you prefer the GA you're entering going to a bot/regifter? Or would you prefer it going to zel?

See, same thing, put in other words and suddenly it doesn't look like such a bad thing :> Consider me a natural force that protects all these games from being regifted! ;p

I dont think zel is the issue here :D
I think this is more illuminati shit, if we take a look at Zel,Bron,ZombieHug and their winnings.... Its more than coincidence that all 3 of them are from Poland, and they are only 3 Polish I know.... but how many on SG, only they know that :D :D

Nah, not Illuminati. It's just Poles are everywhere. Literally everywhere. You cannot go to the most remote corner of the planet without bumping into a Polish person either living or in rarer cases just visiting there.

dno't worry - won't steal Alien Isolation from you ;3 probably because I simplz bought it right after release for 1$ during NewEgg error... and getting Sniper Elite 3 and Murdered: Soul Suspect as well in this 1$ pack ;p in this rare case I consider spending a dollar better deal than winning 1 game :>

when you first join this site its not about winning its about giving away games to level yourself up so that you have better odds of winning other games, myself when i buy a bundle instead of just getting one i get two or more as it often cost just little extra then give them away here to get my level higher, i have been here 10 months now and have won 240 games and have meet some cool people and joined some nice groups, stick around and make some Ga's so you can level yourself up you can hit level one for like a buck and get better odds of winning:)

Well having a chance to win something every once in a while is better than having no chance to win anything.
Yes, the chance to win might be small, but it's all about your luck and the amount of GAs you've entered.

The chances are not that bad you will not win most of the time, i think i won 6 or 7 games here and all of them before i started making giveaways with some old keys.

Uh, enter 1000 giveaways to win eventually? It's chances. If you want free stuff, you've gotta be patient and compete with everyone else who gets free stuff.

Once you hit level 2 the odds get significantly better (for not a huge investment).

Once you hit level 10, you probably just give games away and don't care about winning much anymore anyway. :3

what do you mean by "too many"? high level GAs finally are a thing nowadays thanks to Val's idea of high level appreciation week, but they are much fewerof these than than low level GAs. And it's fine, since there are much fewer high lvl users, but to say there are "too many"? If there was a case that there would be more high level GAs than low level GAs, people wouldn't have GAs to spend their points on because they didn't have the level - then it would be a problem and it would mean there are too many high level GAs. But as it is? Besides times when someone puts a big batch of different GAs, on a normal usual day - I see 1-3 new lvl 10 popping per day max. And few hundreds lvl 0-1 GAs. So I don't really see the reasoning behind "too many" ;p

I fondle my mouse and people send me games. I'd say that was worth the effort.

1,000 in 1 chance sounds about right. My first win was past the 1,000 entries milestone. I first joined for the giveaways, but quickly began to visit Steamgifts daily only for the forum and community. Turns out that being an active user will increase your odds of winning, since you get to be invited in groups/added to whitelists/find private giveaways and puzzles on the forum.

The chances are low but they do exists. I already gained some games. =) And someday when the dollar price drops in my country (1 to 4 now T_T) i hope to start my own giveaways. =)

Because there's a shit ton of effort involved in clicking a button to enter a GA with imaginary points that you get for FREE.

No hidden GA. Just a douche.

1 to 1000 are pretty good chances, besides there are also group restricted GA-s that have much less participants and higher chances to win, so keep your eyes open and join some groups :)

I come here for 4 reasons:

  • 1st is obviously to get a chance to win a game from my steam wishlist
  • 2nd is to get information about some free games, game deals, new bundles, price bugs, steam secrets like the Red Herring badge, etc
  • 3rd is to randomly come across new games that I might like and that are given away by normal users and devs
  • 4th is because I really like trains :)
