Mostly a semantic difference, I'd say. If you listen, you will care. If you don't care, it means you're ignoring what's being said. If by 'caring' you mean not getting very angry or very upset, then that's good advice, but sometimes you can get upset, get over it, and realise you were at fault.

If you don't like something in your life you have the power to change it.

I'm going to be the first to disagree with you. There are some situations where there simply is no way out.

Not all situations have identical or simple solutions, but sometimes we don't even realize that we have the choice to change our lives. The biggest and the most difficult step is the realization of this.

In all seriousness, I am obviously referring to choices regarding your life and not others'.
Your freedom ends where other people's freedom begins.

Part of my issue lies with the fact I don't "exist" according to the system.
I've never believed in debt or credit cards so that makes finding a job damn difficult when they can't find a paper trail on me.

It's a cycle that can't be broken for various reasons. I won't go into it here but in my situation there really is no way out.

I know people can be abusive but I find it hard to believe concerning litteraly everyone you know... Being mean to a good person just don't make any sense, unless you're unconsciously attracted to that only type of person and manage to be with no one else, it might be your perception/sensitivity that makes you believe that...
One thing I'm sure of is that there's people out there who deserve you to make them happy and who will make you happy in return

You may be unlucky. Either that or you're doing something wrong. Or possible you're interpreting things wrongly.
I'd say that in general trying to make others happy normally rewards you with the knowledge that they are happy. (That's assuming you succeed.) They may be grateful, but you normally won't get any reward from that.
Beyond that, it really depends on what you're doing. There's a place where 'making them happy' turns to pampering, and that's not really healthy.

Parents can choose their children but children can't choose their parents.
Let's just say I've had a complicated life and leave it at that.

Parents do choose their children. If you neglect your children, treat them like absolute shit, no encouragement whatsoever, try to force them to be something they are not, etc. you are damning them for the rest of their lives.

Becoming a parent is like putting your hand in a huge bag of seeds and randomly choosing one.
Let's say the seed turned into a lemon tree, but you always wanted to have an apple tree.
You are going to treat it like an apple tree, fertilize it, water it and crop it in the same way that an apple tree would need to.
At the end of day you are going to create a failed apple tree, while you could have created a successful lemon tree.

How can you play games and eat food if you commit Seppuku?

I do not know if I translated it properly, but these are my little rules, Especially because I used to overthink, overanalyze and overlove, what caused depression and anxiety. My experience with trusting people left me with habit to doubting, questioning everything what people say and do. (Except scientific things of course).
edit: almost forgot:

Relying to that. If only turning your brain off was as easy as talking about it... Also sometimes, you better not even start thinking and just go take action (we're talking about safe situation here ofc), because as soon as you let it doubt, your brain can litteraly freeze you.
