Why did you join Steam?

Friend convinced me to join steam. Best decision I've ever made. You get so many games at great prices.

There was a Pokemon "League" I found on /vp/ that I wanted in on, and I needed to join Steam to join their group chat. I bought the Orange Box since it was cheap at the time. It's only snowballed since.

As for the group that made me join, I realized they sucked because they never would hold any matches, then I left.

I joined years ago back when me and my brother were trying to figure out how to play a CD copy of Counter-Strike. I think I remember not being able to connect online or something, and somehow afterwards we came across Steam. Maybe after trying to go online something said to go to the Steam website.. It's hard to remember exactly.

I remember that I was really curious about the CD key for the game, though, and wondered if it would activate or not, so I went to enter it in and afterwards noticed that other games got added to my account, too. It had me pretty excited, so we grabbed our copy of Gunman Chronicles to see if that would do the same thing for my brothers account, and that worked as well! We felt like we somehow cheated the system, but I didn't know back then that was supposed to happen. =P

Way back with my first account I joined without really knowing what it was because some online gaming friends told me to get it so they had a way to talk to me outside of the game we played. So I joined steam for messaging purposes ._.

I long since lost the account name and password for that account. When I made this one it was so a friend could buy me borderlands so we could play together.

I registered for free Portal but until a few years after, trying to use Cracked Steam D: Then became almost legit.

I thought counter strike source was gonna be good as halo pc. I was wrong :( So I just kept my account, and added to it...still have my orange box I bought from wal-mart as proof of my account ...The End! ^_^

Hmm, some time in 2003 I bought an ATI 9800 XT (?) video card, which was supposed to come with a free Half-Life 2. Except the game wasn't finished yet, so instead I got a code good for a bunch of Valve games on steam. Never did finish Half-Life 2, kept getting motion sickness and had to give up. Bleah.

When WON servers were shut down, had to go to steam to continue playing counter strike. Was reluctant to create it before that day.

Because Dota 2. Otherwise, I wouldnt join it.

I bought Modern Warfare 2. Didn't know there was such a thing called steam at that time.
