I have no interest in a Battle Royale CoD so I was hoping I'd get a coupon if I cancelled to make this month a little better but no luck for me there :(

That's an interesting question... That should be clarified. Those who already revealed the key (or whatever), will get a second copy while those who didn't won't get a second copy? Did I get your question right?

Essentially yeah.
I already had activated the Battle Edition key, now that's gone from the key list and I have an unrevealed "standard edition" key. I can still install BO4 from the bnet launcher, and the new key doesn't specify that it's just the "standard upgrade", which I don't think even exists, since owning the battle edition just lowers the price of the standard edition in the digital shop in case you wanted to upgrade.
So yeah, it really seems like people who already popped the original key into bnet are essentially getting another ("better") copy of the game? I don't know if there's some sort of control or barrier stopping us from not using it ourselves and just giving it away.

same here - i am tempted to activate it for the zombies mode but i traded the old one, and no idea if it'll be revoked if i activate this one.. maybe i should just try and trade this to the same guy.

Maybe it has not been revoked now, but it may be revoked eventually.
They went out of their way to invalidate all the unredeemed Battle Editions because they are replacing it with this new Standard one so there is the chance that even if you still have the old Battle Edition in your Bnet library, it will be gone as well.

Thanks, so all unredeemed ones are lost to history even if turned into gift links, while redeemed ones are fully valid Battle Edition copies.
Inb4 all the resellers who bought and already re-sold these will pretend they lost their copies and demand replacements from the people they bought them from.

I'd highly advice you not to trade away the extra just yet. Wait for a week or two or more.
Since the previous ones were replaced to the new one if you have not redeemed it. (And the giftlinks/download links invalidated if you did turn them into such), there is that chance that the ones that actually redeemed it to their library will also be revoked since in all technicality, Humble has given you the new replacement key for it.

Have never / will never support games that do that, lol. (Even if in HB). Hopefully we'll see this practice die out, as I'm sure it's one of the reasons the game has battled from the beginning. Well, that and Loot Boxes / Activision / EA perhaps.

If I had the slightest inclination to unpause/resub HB just killed it by being so sloppy. They would have to show all the bundle now just as a last ditch effort to hook me back. I had a very strong feeling they were going to pull this, many others did as well. Regardless what the loot box side may contain it's still a hard pass from me, it's the principle of the thing.

If they should dare to count the full game as 2 "games" of this month, that's imho worse than giving us the Battle Edition only. If they just decided to improve their "one" leading title, that's nice ... they still should have done so right away then.

I'm not sure I understand: do you need to link your Battle.net account just in order to be able to create a gift link (for someone else)? Can you unlink your account afterwards?

Yes you need to link your Battle.net account so that you can create a gift link.
You can still pause before the autocharge starts (May 31st, 2019, the exact time is flexible).

What happened to the old keys?
If you redeemed the Battle Edition already, you should have a new Standard Edition key added to your purchase page. source
If you revealed the Battle Edition when the bundle was announced, then those items are now replaced with the Standard edition.
Unredeemed Battle Edition gift links seem to have been invalidated.
