Something specific, not vague like "fix the contributor system", or jokes like "make me win every giveaway", or "get rid of leechers". Maybe more than anything you want to see giveaway replies on the "Replies" screen, or maybe you just want the background to be orange.

What would you change right now? Feel free to +1 if someone said your thing.

300 max points is too small, should be at least 500, or better yet, no max at all. So what if there will be people who will sit on their points, there are pros and cons to it, it's called life/doing business/whatever, why should steamgifts be any different is what I am saying.

Also entry limits would also be nice. Whether by the giveaway creator or just by steamgifts itself.

entry limits will be great...but 300 points cap is fine..otherwise...people who will just get 500 points will enter almost every game, like it or not...this way, u enter mostly games u want, not just random games

I already have a hard time getting rid of my points. I can't remember the last time I went under 100. If anything, they should lower the maximum, not raise it.

Too many points will just incite people to enter more stuff and give less chances for others to get a game they really want.

Some of these exist in various forms elsewhere but it'd be neat if you could do them direct from Steam Gifts:

  • An easy way to see at a glance which games are on the wishlist of members of a specific group
  • Easy way to see which games are owned/not-owned by members of a specific group
  • Support for arbitrarily grouping forum users and hosting one-off giveaways for them without faffing around with a separate Steam group, or using an invite link which is potentially open to abuse.
  • User managed, integrated blacklist/user-suspension. I.e. a way for any contributor to easily prevent someone from entering their giveaways without clearing it with Support and/or maintaining a list of banned users. (++good if there's a temporary ban with a wait limit)

All I can think of for now.

What if gifters could restrict giveaways based on a user's SG record? Giveaway creators could require clean records, or a record that has been clean for a specified length of time.

What about allowing gifters to require a minimum giveaway number, aside from contributor value? Make it one of the other, or both.

I'd like it if I could enter multiple times in giveaways where the gifter has allowed it. I like this feature of Gala Giveaways. It would not affect the overall win rate of users, as the same number of points is still invested into the system at any given time.

Selectable themes, or at least color palate, for SG.

Yes, I could put these all into one post. I think splitting them up allows other users to more easily comment on a specific idea.

A dumb proof page in create giveaway with words in >10 languages CLEARLY saying this site is to give game away not ask for free game.

The current page doesnt even tell it. And nobody read FAQ that is TL:DR and it is hiding in the forum. FIX this

some implementation that not only look at the steam profile but also the won history, so that by default games won and regularly marked as received, are excluded from the list of those in which you can participate, because although activated many dlc are still not seen by steam (eg those of magicka or Darksiders 2)
I think this way regifters will decrease: once you win the game/dlc XYZ you can not join other ga for the game/dlc XYZ.. if you don't activate and regift, it's your fucking business you should have thought before (as well as getting rightly suspended/banned)
of course, it could be open to other problems, such as people who might deliberately put the 'not received' to regift in peace.. but this is solvable just by contacting support with the evidence that you sent the gift to get and the positive feedback and the penalty for the scammer

Make all Bundle games AND games that go to 90% off or more (Amazon bundles, galastore, etc) go to the bundle list for 6 months. After that, they are just treated as regular games again.

Will people hold onto keys? Some will, sure; but what's the difference between that and someone buying 20 copies of Shadow Harvest just to farm up points? If people are going to farm points, I'd rather them do it with Binding of Issac/Rochard/SMB/Bastion/tons of other great "bundle" games than with endless "non-bundle" junk.

More options like:

-create giveaway for people that have atleast 3000 comments
-create giveaway for people that are atleast 1 year on steamgifts
-or create giveaway for people that won no more than 3 giveaways or that won more than 10 giveaways
-also there can be option for people that contributed atleast e.g. 20 non-bundle games

That's why there are private/group giveaways. Also number of comments mean nothing. Most of people make worthless thank you comments.

"That's why there are private/group giveaways."

Partly rhetorical question...how do group giveaways help you make giveaways for:
-all the people with at least 3000 comments
-all the people with at least 1 year on steamgifts
-all the people who've won less than 3 giveaways or more than 10.
-all the people who've contributed at least 20 non-bundle games.

What if I want to create a giveaway for 3 copies of a game, one for people with less than a year on steamgifts, one for people with more than a year and >3000 comments and one for people who've contributed >20 non-bundle games. Now I have to create 3 separate groups, vet applications or send invites, manage the members...blah...bad, bad, bad solution.

His proposed solution is great because it would be no more involved for a contributor than the current process. Yours is a bad solution because it goes from an additional simple step in the giveaway creation process to a MAJOR chore.

he probably means that since you can state explicit rules in private giveaways, you can do this sort of manually:

  1. state your rules in the private giveaway
  2. share giveaway link with group
  3. if the winner doesn't comply with your rules, reroll
  4. repeat 3. until valid winner is found

this still means you have to check the winner yourself but it is sort of possible..
