Add a quiz to the registration process to ENSURE new users understand the basics, with failure to answer correctly booting them RIGHT BACK to the very beginning.
It would also be good to see the sync process being used to verify games won, with users, upon marking games as "received", forced to sync their account before being able to enter any further giveaways. Obviously some games (Galactic Arms) and a lot of DLCs which don't have their own unique Steam IDs would be exempt from this, and the system would also be required to overlook historic non-activated games for which suspensions have already been served.

ok, I'd like (and many others according to support) to have the chance to make multi-group giveaways
I was kindly invited to some groups with many nice people and right now I have to spam SG (Private) links all over the chats, or even pm people (and repeat this process over and over...)
-or- make separate giveaways with 1 game per group which is not a good solution either as games values are not the same and I'd not like people thinking I prefer this group more than the other based on that...
TL;DR: I like pizza and multi-group giveaways feature would be awesome!

I'd like to able to view the comments I've made on the forums. I've had times where I've thought "Now, what was that cool thread I commented in?" or "I wonder if anyone responded to that question I asked earlier?" but I've had trouble finding it again.

You can check if people responded to a question via Account > View Replies.

I would like to create giveaways that end when a certain number of people entered instead of when a certain time period has passed.

Some little prizes for the users in example when you reach a milestone like 10 wins or 1.000 entries or something like that system automatically give you some points maybe a badge or if its a really high milestone(like 100 wins or 100 gifts given) there would be a bigger prize like a game or item i dont know that would be nice to make newcomers spend more time and contribute more here and make old members feel special...

how about an auto enter tick box to automatically enter you into raffles for select games
like whenever half life 2 comes up I always enter, it would be nice if it could do that for me
how about limiting the number of possible entrants other than through private or group giveaways, say I want the raffle to end as soon as we have 1,000 entries or something
how about a donate to site option? you give a game to the site to do with as it pleases such as a special site hosted competition or it builds up a collection of copies for a mega giveaway, or possibly consolation prizes for people that have entered thousands of raffles and never won anything

kind of like the guy above me, some rewards like badges would be nice, but how about participation points? a second set of points earned for comments on the site, entries, etc that can be used for special giveaways, possibly ties in with my mention of site hosted giveaways or events

i.e. updated timely, and certain games that get spammed for contrib. harvesting due to a ridiculously low price somewhere (such as Ignite) being also factored in to this and having their contrib. value dropped accordingly. Of course this would have to factor in sale durations, and just as suggested before, this "probationary timeframe" in which contrib. value for the game is lower should end after, say, 6 months, so anyone buying and giving it away after that time gets full value

Limit the amount of player that can enter the giveaway because some famous games (like Skyrim, COD, etc.) always have more than 5K+ players.5k+ players entering for a single code is simply impossible to win. (in other words, put a player cap on every giveaway so people have better chance to win.)
Comment has been collapsed.
I think that's a fairly self-serving change. You want to increase your own chance of winning.
entering for a single code is simply impossible to win
There's going to be 1 winner whether there's 2 entries or 20,000 entries. Someone still walks away happy with a copy of Skyrim. Just because it's not you doesn't mean it's a pointless giveaway.

I personally think it is both side. While limiting player seemed self serving but then I won't be the only one that gets this benefit. I think it should be the person who opens the give away to limit the amount of player that can enter.
Example:
Person A decides to open a giveaway allowing only 1k players to enter.
Person B decides to open a giveaway allowing infinite amount of players to enter.
What I am suggesting is there should be option that can set amounts of player enter in a giveaway. It is only an optional option rather than a mandatory option.

This is why there are contributor, group and private giveaways. The length of the giveaway also factors in. If I created a Bioshock Infinite giveaway right now, set the time for 1 hour and put the contributor value at $500, I'd probably get less then 100 entries. There are many ways that people can limit the amount of people who are able to enter, it's just that you can only choose those parameters when you're doing the giveaway.

Sadly the only thing I want to see requires a change on Steam's side. It'd be great if there was some kind of safe escrow service for sending and verifying keys. The only way I can see this working though is if Steam allows you to redeem a key into your inventory as opposed to your library.

Just had a thought. Steam could actually PROFIT off of allowing you to redeem keys as gifts. If they opened up the community market to allow the selling of inventory games, and allowed you to turn keys into gifts, they could make big money raking in their cut from all the transactions.

organize the forum, could integrate all the networks and separate topics by relevance if we could organize by subs
Also it would be nice if we could send keys to winners instead of having to e-mail like developer giveaways and cg

I liked this topic. Been awhile since I've used SteamGifts so I thought I'd share this one with you guys.

Clocked in 32 hours and unlocked everything, so I'd say it was a good game. Glad to see you're still kicking around the forums, bobofatt.

I want to see a system where contributors have better luck. But since you said no to that, I think a reply system like what's in steam trades would be nifty.

I never understood the desire for liking behavior. If people are too lazy to write a sentence or have nothing worthwhile to input, could they just not skip and write nothing at all?
Poll system is implemented, to my knowledge, but I do not know why it is not open for use yet.
Signatures would likely cause clutter and increase bandwidth usage. Public giveaways have no need to be promoted, group giveaways can be promoted on their respective group page and private ones are not promoted at all for obvious reasons.

I agree with wbarton regarding option B. There has been one Serious Sam "dev giveaway" lately that seemed suspicious as hell and that person is now entering contributor giveaways which were unavailable for him yesterday.I don't even want to think about it how he aquired those SS key since he's not related to CroTeam or Devolver Digital in any way. People need to provide evidence to support on how exactly did they obtained keys and what was their work/contribution on the game.

You're right. Despite everything he said in his "big giveaway", he's still entering contributor giveaways above his actual amount given away.
I'm left wondering how on earth he got those games to giveaway in the first place, because clearly he isn't someone developers would trust....

Something specific, not vague like "fix the contributor system", or jokes like "make me win every giveaway", or "get rid of leechers". Maybe more than anything you want to see giveaway replies on the "Replies" screen, or maybe you just want the background to be orange.
What would you change right now? Feel free to +1 if someone said your thing.
