The contribution system: Every bundled game should be allowed to counted one time to the contribution system. So no cut-off @ the 30$ mark for contribution system. Now we have people buying 1$ dollar game, that is counted as a 10 dollar contribution. But people who are generous and buying bundles to give away get nothing after the 30$ mark.

It works the way it does to discourage people splitting up the bundle and giving games individually to inflate their contributor value. Doing so used to be flat-out forbidden, but having those simply not count toward your contributor value takes up less of the staff's limited time. The $30 mark is there to account for the fact that sometimes you buy a game to give away and it happens to appear in a bundle. That happens sometimes (it happened to me). If you buy a bundle and give it away you always get full contributor value unless you try to split the bundle into individual games.

I think it's a really bad idea. Give away the whole bundle --> problem solved. In this case, you will get the price of that bundle as contribution value, and you should not worry about the $30 limit as far as I know. If people decide to give away bundle keys separately, they can easily receive $30 contribution value from one single bundle. So you pay $1 --> you get $30. And without this limit, people could "farm" ridiculously high contribution value with a very little effort. I think it's more than unfair. Yes, there are many other ways to "fake" your contribution value, but bundles are the easiest method of it. So removing the limit doesn't make sense at all.

If you give enough non-bundle games, you can get more than 30$ from your bundled games. You get the full value up to 20% of the value of your regular games. That's the best way to prevent contribution farming from $1 bundles while not completely discouraging people from giving those games altogether.

The problem is, you can never know if those are bundle keys or Steam gifts. For example, two of my giveaways are listed as bundle keys, but those were actually tradable gifts from Steam. With this rule, a lot of great games would be removed from the site, just because some people are boosting their contribution value with bundle keys. I think we should decide which is more important: these games or the contribution value?

It used to be like that, and policing these giveaways required almost all the mods time. It's unenforceable unless we remove the games from the list completely. But you would be preventing people from getting really good games by doing that. I thing the current contributor's limit system is the best trade-off.

Rules added when someone is banned for a reason not currently stated in the FAQ/Rules and Guidelines.
For example. I was suspended for 2 weeks for just posting how to get a free game from a cereal box promo. It wasn't a Steam game and wouldn't affect this site, and it also doesn't say anything about it in the rules. And also 2 weeks is excessive imo. You want people to learn from their mistakes, but not have resentment. I can honestly say that I don't know what is and what isn't allowed to be posted in the forums.
Edit: and here is part of the reply I got from support "Posting how to perform any kind of exploit is an immediately punishable offence." If this had been in the rules when I read them I wouldn't have posted how to get the game, and I did read the rules before making that post.

Integrate system, that automatically send the key to e-Mail of the winner, or show it on the page (something like the contribution giveaways)
It could be more easier, if you could enter the key in some field as option when creating giveaway. Also waiting time for the winner will be terminated and the system could automatically mark gift as received :)

2 separate lines in profile for contributor value - bundled games and non-bundled.
Private message system for keys transfer.

I would honestly like it a lot if I could enter giveaways by just pressing a button to do so on the main page, rather than follow the link to the giveaway, hit Add Entry, go back to main page, lather, rinse, repeat.
The 300P limit would still keep people from abusing the system.

We don't need even more people entering giveaways without reading the description.

Sure, we definitely need less people reading the giveaway description before entering.

Not sure if mentioned but clean up forum a bit by having specific subforums, so it isn't all cluttered. Like things pertaining to giveaways, general questions, off-topic (games, real life, sports etc...).
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah, we really need a proper forum. Something like, [Giveaways + Puzzles], [Off-topic], [General Discussion], [Support Forum].
We also need all the features a normal forum already has, like being able to subscribe to discussions, being able to track your post history and threads created, etc.
Heck, just move to vBulletin. =x

^ this
or at the very least, add the custom filters feature.
actually, having said that, since it's not a hassle to have to install plus, I'd probably got for adding notifications as my choice.
So you can keep a tracking list, and get an email or something whenever a giveaway is put on.

I'd have any winnings that got marked as received checked against the next available sync data to see if its been used yet(just the new ones, don't need to check everything ever won, just compare the newly received items to the steam library. it'd be a big lag the first time if they checked preexisting wins, but). then no more worries about trading regifting or not being public.

I thought this was the case already, just only visible to support.

ah, maybe it is, in that case good(I had assumed that was what sync was for). had guessed it wsan't based on a couple recent threads(so suggested just in case) but they may have said what they did cause its only visible to support so maybe didn't know. lol
in that case then something different...maybe about bundles and hib. if the keys aren't separate how abusable is it really anyway and does it need to be asterisked(would free up a slot for galastore), I donno something like that. I'll think of something.
ooh, or colored text options, that always makes a forum less horribly annoying to read :P I also want a pony. ...whos the hot one with the apple trampstamp again? sparkle pie or fruitdash or something. that one. And to change the background color of the site, this glaring white hurts my eyes and tans my skin unacceptably. plus I want to save power for the environment and black with white text glows less than white with black.

yeah, so to summarize: my one thing would be that flag wins to check vs sync list thing.
But if it already happens now, then my thing would be an equal chance of(just roll a dice) some of these other ideas I stole:
fix the contributor value and bundle list thing. hib with its fused keys and indieroyale don't really make sense to be on it, especially if galastore is left off. put galastore on list, ect. maybe even rehaul how that whole thing even works. Maybe a diminishing return in cr for gifting the same thing so you don't go out and buy 20 copies of the craymachines bundle, thats good cause it also affects sales not just technically bundles. Either make it based on how many copies of that gift currently exist on the site or make it individual to you personally.
add to the givaway options selectable by the gifter.
allow multiple entries,
set a max entry limit, ...actually thats the whole list.
make contribution value from the past not go down just because steam is now selling the game cheaper.
maybe some cosmetic benefits for being a gifter.
add at least some of the filter features found in steamgift+
(actually weight those dice in favor of one of those the first 3 being my alternate thing)

The way that contribution value is stored. I contributed $19.98 worth of games, but one of them went down in price so my contribution value went down. I would make it track my contribution value from the moment I contributed and make it immutable.
Comment has been collapsed.
You paid $19.98 for those two games?
I honestly don't see this as a valid criticism as 99% of giveaways on this site were games bought on sale. Even if they drop down, you still have more value than you actually paid.

The database doesn't hold historical value of prices. It's been discussed before and althought it would be a nice addition, I don't think it will be put in place. And it affects everyone as the price of every game is bound to go down at some point, except maybe for Fortix. It's the one and only safe value,

i know this may sound silly , but it would be good for desura games to be given on giveaways

I don't want to be a that guy but if the point of saying "thanks" is to express gratitude over a giveaway such a button would only make such word meaningless! If you feel so little about the giveaway that saying "thanks" is just a chore you probably should say nothing at all...

That's not Steamgift's fault, that's your browser doing that. Click on the topic tilte if you want to relad the page.

Something specific, not vague like "fix the contributor system", or jokes like "make me win every giveaway", or "get rid of leechers". Maybe more than anything you want to see giveaway replies on the "Replies" screen, or maybe you just want the background to be orange.
What would you change right now? Feel free to +1 if someone said your thing.
