SWAT 4:
You have 3x30 Shot Mags, if you shoot with one like 10 times and then reload it will switch to the fullest mag and put the "old" back and it still has 20 ammo left. If you then shoot let's say 11 shots of your 2nd mag, reload, then 11 of your 3rd mag, reload you are at your first magazine, because it has one more shot than the others (1: 20, 2:19, 3:19)
I think that is most realistic

i agree ;) that is realistic (given you have time to store your other mag, and not just drop it [which is way faster...])

you are a swat, if your 3 other men give you cover you can store it. and have to, because most of the time you need all of your mag.
Once I was out of Ammo on primary weapon and had just taser (needs to reload after every shot). All my mates were dea....let's say i was alone^^. THAT was exciting :o

Red Orchestra had a system where you held onto used magazines that still had rounds in 'em. When you reloaded, a prompt came up saying "the magazine feels heavy" which means it was more than half-full. If it said "the magazine feels light" that meant it was below half-full.
Another big bit of that that I really dug was that it didn't tell you how many rounds were in your magazine. In fact, the game didn't even tell you when you were empty, so it was possible to find yourself with the perfect shot and no rounds in your magazine.

As said above - Tediore in Borderlands. Since they don't have mags, all ammo that is left in mag just goes away (and explode :P)
The other thing that I was always wondering - I haven't seen any game that adds you +1 extra bullet when reloading weapon that is loaded.
Let's say you're shooting some assault rifle, 30 bullets. Shoot, shoot, shoot - 27 bullets left total (26 in mag and 1 in chamber). So after reloading you should have 31 bullets (fresh mag with 30 and this one left in chamber) because your character isn't grabbing chamber lock or whatever (sry, I don't know english word for this) and manualy reloading chamber.

True, they are similar but not the same thing. However even if someone uses the incorrect term I still know what they meant and it doesn't bother me. If someone says bullet instead of cartridge or round that's not a big deal to me because I still understand what they were trying to express. It is my feeling that most gamers are not what I could consider to be particularly experienced when it comes to actual weapons so I am not going to unnecessarily hold them to a higher standard. If someone from my range club said something like that then I would probably correct them if they kept making the same error.

Generally I would agree with you but in this specific context of someone wishing for a more accurate depiction of firearms in video games it seems a bit silly for them to be making that mistake. Anywho it turned out to just be a language issue and they've fixed it so w/e

you're right. corrected. English is not my Native language, i was wrong ;)

Good on ya' for correcting it, and being so humble about it. It's a really common error for people to use magazine and clip interchangeably, despite it being incorrect. Only the more hardcore gun aficionados correct people on it, for the most part.

Hi
In the old days, i remember games like Mafia, Battlefield 1942, Hidden&Dangerous... when you reloaded a weapon, you lost all the ammo left inside that magazine.
that is realistic, as no one on the field of battle will remove the \"leftovers\" rounds from a magazine and insert them in other semi-empty mag... (time consuming, and impossible with shaking hands :))
my question is: are there any modern shooters which still rely on this realistic aspect?
thanks
P.S. : example (AK47 with 3 spare mags after 4 shots fired):
we now have: 27/90 --> Reloading --> 31/86
should be:__ 27/90 --> Reloading --> 31/64
this would play an important strategic role in multiplayer
P.P.S.
ok, even better would be, as mentioned in comments, to use a system as in SWAT 4, that is, save semi-full magazines for later, not just drop them... that would not mean you will lose ammo on reloading, but after X reloads (X=#mags you have initially) you wont have a full mag after reloading.
