Blacklist is limited to 1.000 users only.
As for some users, who have been long here (like me) & who have "some standards" - we have exhausted the list of 1.000 users.

Do some of you think that we should make Blacklist longer than 1.000 users? Vote.
Or is 1.000 users enough? Vote, comment.
Personally, I would even become a Patron, if that would give me an option to have more than 1.000 users on Blacklist.

Otherwise users like me would give only in the "group giveaways", hidden from the rest of the people who don't give pennies (& much less games here).

Would you like to have Blacklist with more than 1.000 users?

Personally, I don't use any of them (black or white) so much. But different people, different necessities.

On a separate note, for every giveaway created there has to be a winner and not everyone can actually be on a positive w/g ratio or the site would not work. If you plan on blacklisting people with negative ratios whether its based on CV or games won/given, you will need way more than 10,000 BL spots. May i actually ask why you think games won/ratio is more important than contribution value? Do you think a 1P giveaway has the same value as a 50P giveaway?

If using this site is really not working for you, maybe its time for you to think about using another vehicle for your giveaways which would suit your requirements better. With regards to your question i used to have a blacklist but it never reached beyond 20 and I have now removed everyone on my list. Therefore, having up to 1000 blacklist users would not be useful for me. I find focusing on my blacklist makes me think more about the negative aspects of the site than the positive parts (glass half empty/full thinking).

You're too soft!

We need to ban everyone with less sent than won because they are leeches.
Then we also need to ban everyone with more sent than won because they are pretentious bastards with too much money and nobody should strive for imaginary points.
Obviously, also ban everyone with 0-0 as why are they even on the site?
Then just rename the remainder Steamtrades2 and catapult to space, because the remaining people are too pure for Earth.

I see other people have tried the stick and that hasn't exactly worked out well. Maybe the carrot might work better but i am not holding out much hope!

Don't forget to ban people who don't post in the forums (not participating in the community), people who post things people don't like in discussions (toxic users), people who post things people do like in discussions (just trying to get onto peoples whitelists), low level users (not generous enough), high level users (flaunting their wealth), people who don't play their wins (undeserving), people who do play their wins (obviously cheating, ain't nobody got the time for that), people who give away cheap games (farming CV), people who give away expensive games (elitists), people who don't give away games (goes without saying), people who own lots of games on Steam (they don't need any more), people who don't own lots of games on Steam (clearly alt accounts), people who make group giveaways (secretive CV farms exploiting region locked gifts), people who don't make group giveaways (feeding the bots), and so on and so forth...

Haha. Great idea. Almost all the ban-worthy cases mentioned in your post. Maybe we can find even more? Can't think of right now, though.

Also, Happy Cakeday to you!

Hold that thought, I think you might be onto something.
Oh, and don't forget to ban people celebrating cakedays (wasting another year on the site).

Exactly, that's why I asked for more than 1.000 BL members.

Too bad, most people here are only BOTs & leeches. 👎

How about petitioning for a Hate list? If someone is added, they get an automatic reply from your account on every single one of their posts, about how much you hate those people.

Would be awesome, wouldn't it?

Automated spam? Nah.
But I'd be down for that if you replace the unnice reply with a kitteh gif.
Although that wouldn't be a hate list anymore.

Shouldn't nice replies with kittens then be replaced with 2 kittens as well?

Hmm... I'm not sure about that. I mean, as far as I'm concerned, the more cats, the better. However, this could potentially lead to a cuteness overload and as everyone knows, cuteness overload's side effects may include nosebleed and head explosion.... and ultimately, we might see a decline in SG's active population.

I think that's enough. It doesn't make sense to blacklist people for a game they get for free.

I have no job for 3 years. If I had enough money to buy games, I wouldn't have visited this site or any other site. I spend my time on the games I gift.

People who add me to the blacklist should not participate in the giveaways I prepared. If they do such a thing, those people are hypocritical.

Blacklist works both way so if someone blacklists you they cant enter your giveaways too.

If you can't contact a user due to them being blacklisted* or due to them not having any public giveaways you can comment in, note that you can request staff to contact them on your behalf if it relates to SG functions (like the delivery of a gift). Unlike necroing, which inconveniences the community and can lead to irritation and blacklists* , contacting through staff makes use of the site's volunteers in a capcity they're intended for, while also ensuring that your attempts to communicate with your winner have been properly conveyed to staff. In short, it's a much more appreciable approach.

* After the above considerations, I've become curious if you chose this thread because of a blacklist issue between you and the OP, because you had the intention of soliciting blacklists for yourself, or if it was nothing more than an unfortunate choice of topic. :P

You are not on BL. But sure, usually I added you.

Also, we keep these chats within giveaways. & usually all giveaways which needs adding on STEAM are written in game giveaway "in advance". 👍

If you BL more than 1000 users, you need a shrink, not a longer list.

Yes.
But, let me explain why.

Those 1000 users could probably be filtered out more easily by:

  • Database performance. I'm sure people would love to have a blacklist worth 10.000 or more long, but every time you search the site those 10.000 all need to be cross referenced. Steamgifts would be two or three times as slow as it currently is.
  • Using sgtools, to ensure those obvious rulebreakers aren't able to enter your giveaway.
  • They may not even be using the site anymore, but it's a huge chore going through your 1000 users every so n then to check. Maybe it's good to not let your list reach 1000 to begin with. If it does however - it'd be great if steamgifts had a way to filter blacklisted users by "date last logged in", and allow us to boot those off the list that havent been on the site in a year or more anyway.

1000 isn't "much", but manual filtering should optimally be the last thing that's needed.
Honestly I've been finding myself using it more then I'd like to lately, because the amount of bot users has been very much on the rise again.

Some years ago SG did a big ban on users who use "autojoiners". But it's been so long since that ban wave, that people have already forgotten about them. So and then if you post a series of giveaways, a few users with autojoiners will also "auto thank" - and make themselves rather obviously known. Honestly it's nice to think the giver if you win, but thanking with a generic message 5x in a second is more than a little sus.

Not sure if such autojoiner ban waves still happen - but i suspect they don't.

Sorry for my bad english i'll do my best.
I've only put some guyz on my BL since i've join SG but i found not fair to only try to win games without give some games.

But i dont understand why i got put in some BL i've won 11 games (110$) and give 10 games (210$) and one game on Uplay.
According to SG stats i've won -2 games fewers than i should.

Are you on the same position than me ? blacklisted but with more game given in quantity or price ?

I would try to understand why some person do this.

People are weird with varying priorities and what justifies a blacklist for you is probably different for other people. Your blacklists could be a result of a comment on the discussions, or maybe someone felt entitled to a win you got, or maybe even someone accidentally pressed blacklist instead of whitelist. Don't worry about it too much.

Hey no the creator of the thread wants to blacklist more people
But people blacklist for various reasons
Like you win you get blacklisted,You win a game someone else wanted you get blacklisted, you write something with a different opinion you get blacklisted
But you can earn Whitelist the same way.

i think. that the blacklist must have verifiable or restricted tickets in order to add a user to the blacklist just like that. because you didn't like his avatar or he won more games than you, it was impossible. It's just not fair. I have not done anything wrong to SG users, however, I am on their blacklists. this is very insulting.
