When I got Dead Space from Humble Origin Bundle, the Origin version played the intro then Issac had a heart attack, blood filled screen, he died, and it would replay intro. I re installed, same thing. Steam version worked perfectly fine. :/

Pick any game off steam. 90% chance there's something wrong that you will have to spend at least 30 minutes trawling forums and google to find a fix.
Most recent games personally that didn't fucking work
Odd world Strangers wrath,
Dead rising 2,
Dead rising 2 off the record

Yeah, chances are if he's one of those "omg every game I have is broken and crashes" kinda people, he's too dumb to be using a computer and likely has more viruses than a methed out hooker.
Like you, I can't remember the last time I had any issues with a game on steam. Maybe getting some friends to connect to CoH games I hosted, and that was just them changing port numbers on the steam version. It was an easy fix.

I've run into several old, cheap (bundle fodder) games on Steam that have issues.
The first two Commandos games install with a .ini file that disables saving the game. As far as I know, none of the developer, the publisher, nor Valve have ever addressed the issue, even though it would involve changing only a single line of a text file.
Star Wolves 1 can randomly crash on at least Windows 7, and people have issues like weapons not working. There are claims that some problems are caused by the original DRM not being properly removed, while others suspect that the game can be broken when other programs update libraries on your machine. (Star Wolves 2 also apparently has issues. I saw mention of people recommending applying a Russian patch that itself breaks one of the missions in the English version.)
Vigil: Blood Bitterness, as installed, doesn't play video if you play the game fullscreen. You have to switch to window mode to watch videos, which seem to be a bit required to understand the game.
Steam itself doesn't install games properly at times. I still have some games that check installation whenever I try to play them. It is just an annoyance that adds some extra seconds before a game starts, but it is still a bit sloppy.

Red Orchestra 2 and Spore are two titles that win the contest rather easily.

Skyrim. The fan patch fixes most of it's bugs, but unpatched? It's a train wreck.

It wasn't really a broken game but Two Worlds 2 was extremely glitching when it came to using skills.
6/10 you would end up glitching out and not even damaging the enemy with your skills! talk about a waste and having wait for the cooldown xD. I was determined to beat the game with the glitches tho :)

No Time To Explain is literally one of the worst pieces of shit I've ever bought.

Steam gifted Max Payne 2. Showed up in the process list after launch but did not show any active screens. My OS is Win7Pro. Found a solution at the Steamcommunity that was rather easy but not so evident - choose Windows 98/Me compatibility mode in the game's shortcut properties. Not so evident because I successfully launched MP2 on WinXP some time before. Other solutions dealt with ATI graphics drivers rollback which fortunately was not my case. By the way, the Steam-provided testapp.exe still bears the notorious Myth ASCII graphic logo.

The Sims 3 Nightlife...took a while to get it to install properly, then when it did, I encountered a game breaking bug twice, where the sims would either freeze or be unable to leave a lot. Tried everything to fix it, but all I could do was start a new save game. Very frustrating.

Haven't had a lot that is broken, but it does make me furious when I find out later that a game can't run in windowed mode or it doesn't have a resolution that fits on my screen in a window. I really think Steam needs to force devs to put that sort of thing on the store page because it can render games unplayable for people or really ruin the person's ability to enjoy the game.

Keep in mind that this was a while ago (would have been early 2009), so I don't remember exact details. Anyway, imagine this.
The game is Grand Theft Auto IV (for the 360). After many, MANY failures, you successfully complete a mission that had been giving you trouble for hours upon hours. Glad it's finally over, you go onto the next mission only to find that it's even worse (Don't remember the details of either mission but I do remember always hating missions where you had to drive and shoot at the same time). After failing a few times, you frustratedly save and exit, then turn off your 360.
Coming back to it, you find that despite saying the game saved, you have to do that first mission all over again. Assuming you must not have actually saved the first time, you complete the mission again, then make a point of manually saving before doing anything else. You re-load the game (I don't think you could save without "save and exit" but if that's not the case I may have just reloaded to make sure it actually saved) only to find yourself back where you started. Again.
You scream in frustration, then hurl your controller full force into the wall, ruining it, then realize the game is making you way too mad for it to be fun anymore and you never touch it again (though to be fair if I didn't have such a huge collection of games I haven't beaten, I'd probably be back to GTAIV by now).

Not so much a broken game but the deleted achievement from civ v after you had it, then finish what you though was the last achievement. Only to find your sitting on 100% completed, but 286/287 achievements and because of it won't ever count as a "perfect game"

Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl: Made it to prypiat first time, spent an hour or 2 killing stuff. Then I hit an invisible border and I could not continue. Had to reload at the start and replay the entire start of the city to continue.
Mirror's Edge: Doesn't work. Not just crashes the drivers in game, but crash them, so hard, that even desktop in windows has artifacts all over. Have to manually restart the driver in device manager to make it work. Yay herpa derpa PhysX derpacrap.

Hey guys, been wondering if any of you had a similar problem as I did.
So I bought Stealth bastard deluxe on steam, only to end up finding out that the bloody thing doesn't even get past the logo, giving me exe errors all the time.
Nobody knows a solution, so that's money right out the window.
I am still kinda furious about it, so I just go ahead and ask: Did you guys had similar experiences? And if you did, how did you react? Because it's pissing annoying for sure.
