Usuallly something with a strong storyline that will absorb me, make me forget about my worries and more about theirs (hearing "a man chooses, a slave obeys" while destroying his face with a golfclub made me forget all about the shit I was going through,(this is Bioshock btw, just incase anyone thought I was bashing someone with a golfclub)). Borderlands 2 is another good one, light hearted storyline but still with real issues, and once again, those guys on Pandora have it alot worse off than me! haha.
Lately also playing a bit of LoL while listening to a Tool/Led Zeppelin/ Rage Against the machine shuffle has made me feel pretty good at the end of a really shitty day.
If none of that works then anything with copious amounts of as senseless violence usually does the trick.

Plants vs Zombies (Not 2, that has a crap ton of microtransactions required to get certain plants and stuff). Preferably for the DS.

Also, look for a Youtuber called Ashens, his videos are fucking hilarious. He can make you laugh your ass off while reviewing a kinderegg.

Play something fun. For example: Saints Row: The Third, or SR:IV.
It's so absurd that you will forget about problems for awhile ;)

Perhaps try Guns of Icarus Online, it's a good game especially for playing with friends (but you can play with others on the net too) Basically you are a crew of a 4-man ship and ships blow each other up.
Minecraft is also good (though it can be a little boring after some time in survival mode; creative mode can get you hours of fun but you do have to invest time to learn about mechanisms like redstone)
You can also check out AudioSurf it's simple yet very addictive and fun. You get to play using your own music soundtracks and ride a vehicle along to your music (think of a visualizer but you are part of the visualizer itself)
I play Assassin's Creed Brotherhood nowadays, it's a fun game (even better if you follow the storyline and start from AC2, then proceed to AC Brotherhood then AC Revelations I think). If you know the story you'll take satisfaction in killing the enemies in revenge for the main character (but it can be a little dark / sad at times)
If you are a fan of RPGs why not go for Elder Scrolls V Skyrim or IV Oblivion? Don't forget Witcher 2 also
Last but not least, the GTA series are a great gateway to do shit conveniently.

Depends on what kind of depression I'm dealing with. The Binding of Isaac, Unreal Tournament, Left 4 Dead, and other challenging games are great for when I need to take my mind off of things.
However, I usually play something a bit more relaxed when my depression is due to chronic pain, because my cognitive abilities are pretty crappy then. And sucking at a videogame never helps me feel better. Aether is one of my go-to games during one of these bouts. I also enjoy Animal Crossing and Nintendogs, too. Or any other game that doesn't have any kind of 'game over'.

Awesome!
Yeah, the music is superb. Especially the stuff you get with The Basement Collection version. I could relax for hours just drifting from planet to planet, listening to its wonderful soundtrack. :)

As sad as To The Moon was, it does have a very uplifting theme to it.
But, maybe it's time for a game that is just all about good fun, Saint's Row, Just Cause, games like that. I'd personally avoid multiplayer games AGAINST other people because every pub server is filled with people who find the easiest tactic and whore it out. If you can find a game where you just play WITH people, find a good group of guys and have fun with that. I've been playing Payday 2 almost exclusively since it came out 2 weeks ago. I've made a lot of friends playing over the time and we add each other on Steam, and keep playing with each other because it's good fun. Maybe if you have a couple friends you can play that, then branch out when you find other fun players to play with.

Yeah, I learned the hard way that pub servers aren't much fun when you're depressed. lol It's no fun being paired up with nincompoops, playing against jerks, or getting kicked repeatedly for stupid reasons. Playing with just my friends is what I normally do. ^^

So, I'm kinda going through a hard time and it isn't even a good time to get a shrink or a therapist or whatever. So I'm stuck at rambling with friends, watching random movies and series, screaming randomly at walls... and of course, playing videogames.
Now. I wanted to know what YOU guys play when you are depressed, personally, I play Beat Hazard or Audiosurf. Specially Audiosurf, since I can play that with only one hand, and just looking at the screen while I dwell in self-pity.
And I know everyone deals with it differently. Like, some prefer happy games, some during that time prefer to be stabbed than play those same games and prefer games that are equally as depressed as them to remind them that they are not alone in this moment. There's people in as much misery or more than them. And I have to admit I am more of the second kind, but for the sake of this topic, go with whichever, but I'd like if you could explain why it helps you in particular.
