Have you ever deleted or hidden games from your library?

View Results
No. Why would I?
I hid some games, but I haven't deleted any from my library (I don't care enough to contact Steam Support)
I hid some games, but I haven't deleted any from my library (I don't like that it's permanent, as I may change my mind)
I hid some games, and permanently deleted others
I permanently deleted some games, but never hid any
Dan Quayle constantly deletes and undeletes my games. Will you tell him to stop?

I once had a DLC in my library even though I didnt own the main game, so I requested it to be deleted.

I hide my games just by creating a new category like 'Freebies' for example, put the games there, and never open the category again.

Exactly! I never delete games. Instead, i made a lot of categories! Freebies, Won Giveaways, Lost Interest and also,
Junk.

I deleted Paranautical Activity from my account. The game wasn't good and the dev was a dick.

As for the rest, I hide them until I decide to play them.

I hide the games I've completed (100% achievements or completed storyline and not bothered about achievements). I would never delete a game I've paid for or won though a GA.

I've hidden Dota 2 Test, as I've already got Dota 2 stuck in my library.

Yeah, i have deleted around 50 games from my Steam library. First, I'll test a game and if i see it's not my kind of game or worth to keep then i will delete it.

No. However I need to learn how to make categories and create "free shit" or "free glemio or whatever is called things for farm cards"

I have hidden ~250 games.

So far I've removed over 60 games. One was a mass bundle of crap, along with a few no cards/achievements/lowrating games I would never touch. Still need to finish cleaning my library though :3

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but unlike hiding, deletion is permanent. See the second link.

Interesting! So I have to wonder why do they call this option "permanent" if you can easily restore games?

Is this guaranteed to work, or dependant on support's decision? This might be interesting for those games that have demo achievements, but where the demo can't be installed when you have the full game.

You can remove licenses for free games and demos yourself (that was always possible, though through another mechanism). This is cool, thanks for the idea!

//edit: Just tried to restore one of the first games I had Steam support remove (in those days you couldn't do it yourself). This is what I get: "You have not added this product to your Steam account"

At that time, I had to double confirm that it cannot be re-added to the account without a new purchase. This was done manually by Steam support.

But another package that I removed myself, I can restore. This is what I get: "You previously owned this product, but you asked us to permanently remove the package (Kane and Lynch Collection (DE)) which included it from your account"

So those two methods are indeed treated differently.

I wanted to get all of the DLC for the original Borderlands....but the game of the year edition was cheaper than buying just the DLC alone. So I removed Borderlands from my account so that it'd let me buy the GOTY edition xD

Couldn't you just buy it as a gift, store in your inventory, then move to your library?

Permalink

I have no idea, possibly - although removing it from my account was just as easy as doing that

you couldve just refunded for the reason its cheaper now. i bought woodle tree adventures in 2015 october and i refunded it last week for the reason that it has been given away way too much. i got my 5 cents back. yaay. i had 3 hrs on record

Permalink

That's... quite a bit longer than the 2 week limit on refunds.. o.O

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

yeah i know. it isnt actually a limit. under 2h rs and 2 weeks they give you refunds for any reason. but i had a good reason for woodle tree- it has been given away way too much.i even included a link there.

I wonder if they just didn't want to press the point over 5 cents :P

Don't really know what to make of that. I may need to make a thread and see how common such reactions from steam refund support are.

I was able to refund a game long after two weeks because it didn't work for me! :D

Nothing, as far as I know? I never pressed the matter, and they haven't ever sent me a confirmation/decline explanation for me or my friends until we followed up asking for one.

Dont see the point in hiding / deleting games tbh.
IF you dont want something dont buy / activate it .

That just goes for me tho ... some ppl seem to care bout how their steam library look like ...
3/4ths of my are just games i activated so i can idle for the cards tbh >.> That doesnt mean i would delete them tho ... i paid ( in most case ) something to get those games , so why let them go to waste :c

It's not like I don't want or they are just bad games. I got Bioshock from a friend and can't play it because of this so i hided it. List goes on like this instead of making another catagory for it simply hiding games keep things a little bit tidy for me. That's the point of hiding for me not very different from catagory.

Permalink

It still makes no sense to me tbh.
You cant play it , and you know that ... so why hide it .
Just skip over it ..

Duno , will never figure out the way some ppl are thinking tbh :)

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I didn't know that when i activated it. I really wanted to play it too. But i couldn't sadly. So maybe future i will find a way to play it so instead of doing a catagory for later planned games hiding it make me choose my next game easier.

You're missing an option for future deletion. That would be my "option" in this poll..

Never include a potatoe option unless you want someone to select it ;)

I've hidden, un-hidden and then re-hidden before.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I include the potato(e) option for two reasons - because (1) as much as I try to cover all possible options, some people have a point of view I didn't think of, and I still think they should be able to vote, and (2) it makes it easier for me to search for my polls (apparently your old VP doesn't come up here often in other threads).

With all these crappy freebie games I've been starting to consider it, but no, I share my library with friends sometimes and I figure they might enjoy some of those games, so I'll keep them.
