Do you have a diagnosis in the autism spectrum?
true but it can help you understand things and explain to others

Bump. I was gifted this game and I started playing it. It's very cute... and a little challenging at first. Classic old-skool RPG. I want to finish it soon. :) (PS: Also a bit educational!)

A friend of mine who has worked at the GGD said you need at least three autistic behaviours and that most people have one or two. But it's quite arbitrary. The whole DSM V has been based on a deviation from standard behaviour. But who decides what's normal? And what is normal anyway?

No it isnt that easy Btw I agree with you on what is normal?
Als je in Nederland een diagnose krijgt wordt je 8-10 ochtenden getest (4-5 uur per keer) daarna volgt er een gesprek met 1 van je ouders dit is een verplicht onderdeel anders kan je geen diagnose krijgen

I'm diagnosed with having ASD autistic spectrum disorder but nothing specific beyond that and I spent 6 years on special schools for autistic kids
don't really know what to compare any (dis)advantages to as it's the life I've always lived (and I don't have a specific diagnosis) but people have noted that I'm very observant and got a strong memory and focus for certain things (especially numbers)

The last sentence I would call some really advantages

I have a friend with Asperger's who's had her fair share of obstacles laid in front of her through people unable to understand... and while she can get quite annoying sometimes (typical ;D), she's a really nice person to hang out with. Her drawing skills are beyond imagination, that girl looks at something in real life for a few moments and draws it nearly perfect hours later.
Only thing that saddens me is the fact that autism seems to have become some sort of "fashionable" disorder - every soccer mom nowadays tends to let greedy little doctors label their children as being autistic, like it's some brand they can use to excuse any deficit their child has developed because of their neglect and flawed/careless upbringing... it just ridicules the ones really suffering from it and impedes research/bringing general awareness to society. Get real, your child isn't autistic, you just don't care enough about it and thus he or she tends to develop weird behavioral patterns. And autism is just a part of that whole industry demonizing any individuality as some sort of disease or disorder - as long as a person can take care of themselves and is happy with her/his life, just let them be, for fucks sake... fill your pockets elsewhere.
Sorry for the rant and again, thanks for the GA.
edit: random cat added to compensate for the negativity ;>

I was wondering according to this older thread https://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/u7ub5/personal-autism-awareness-were-just-like-everyone-else how many people on steamgift have an autism (related disorder) I was diagnosed too with autism
Cause the gaming community is sometimes associated with autism.
What difficulties do you have in the ordinairy world? Do you have any other disorder related to your autism?
What do you see as (dis) advantages to (your) autism
