What is your Main Reason(s) to Open Steam Account?

CD with HL2 had this weird Steam thing...

Half-Life 1, because the latest patch at the time needed Steam (this was before HL2 launch)

I created my steam account back in the days in order to participate in the new counter-strike beta.

The only purpose of steam was to supply the CS beta...no other game, no store, no buddy list and so on.

Never got rid of that account and I dusted it off here and there over the years, but only started recently (half a year) to use it on a more permanent base.

It was either Dota 2 or TF2...although after I created it, I didn't really touch it much and missed out on the free Portal.

Now, it's Dota 2, although I do play quite a few other games (Dust being one of the current ones).

Play Half-Life and CS:CZ which I'd lost the discs for.

First week Steam sign up. 10 year badge. Wanting to try out the FAMAS and Galil on the new CS 1.6!

When I bought Portal 2 on PS3 it came with a free Steam code, and here I am.

When half-life 2 launched, bought the box version and had to make a steam account to activate!

Team Fortress 2 went free to play so I decided to make an account. Before I thought Steam is a tool which you need to play Counter Strike (well, stupid friends were always asking if someone plays CS Steam or Non-Steam ...)

Well if you want to play most PC games, you're forced to use Steam DRM, no different than EA forcing Origin on us. GOG FTW!

I bought Football Manager 2009 and it gave me the option to use Steam or not when installing for the first time. I said yes without reallty knowing what it was.

My friend showed me Terraria so I created an account and bought it. After a year, I bought a game... 300 later, I am kind of laughing and crying.

To buy and play Killing Floor >:D

Team Fortress 2 since I saw my cousin playing it and it looked fun.
