I feel the same.
The one game i push myself to play to fight this feeling, is Darkwood
Just enough scary to freak me out, but not enough to keep me from playing.

I suppose Dont Starve makes me feel similar, but the goofy animation makes me feel less so.

I also recommend Bramble, for more norse horror!
I feel like so many spooky games lean into Japanese superstition, because of all the yokai and yurei and all that. It's refreshing to see what haunts the darkness of other countries for a change.
