Yeah, all the time
Never
i get ads for sexy potato games
No just you... you pervert

I usually use an Adblocker, but disabled it for SG, althought if I ever had that kind of ads, I would probably put it back on... Not the kind of ads I get, thankfully.

I do not mind the sexy ads and why bother with ad blocker on this site they are not over bearing.I do agree though ones with molest is not the most appealing the seduce I can live with.I think as long as the ads do not show to much revealing or incorporate words/images I am fine.

That being said I have no issue with people who use ad block I just do not see a point of using it on this site.It helps pay the bills.I do use the site on my desktop though so I really can not speak of how ads may effect mobile users.

well ... from my point of view the advertisment on this site is acceptable... (to be more precise .. I'm not shocked)
BUT it is sometimes VERY creepy !!! (creepy in the sense of "we know what you have seen")

I usually disable ads everywhere, but I disabled my adblocker for a quick test on SG. What I got:

  • Lots and lots and lots, like 80%, of (French) ads for War Thunder, which is weird since I have about as much interest in modern warfare as in dog sledding

  • Some ads for flash games, particularly something that looks like a girlier Habbo Hotel

  • Some weeb stuff like ads for Persona 5 or an "otaku corner" of Amazon (I have a friend who keeps sending me links of weird stuff she finds on Amazon, it must be her fault)

  • Assorted boring and ugly (French) ads for banks and cheap hotels and crap I care even less about than dog sledding

  • Some "normal" (as in, not eyesores) ads for vidya, software, or clothes

  • Ads about Thai women wanting to marry me, sorry but I'm more into Thai rice

  • This masterpiece, sadly I only got it once

Thankfully nothing like the horror OP had, although those hotel ads were an extremely unpleasant experience.

Huh, dog sledding looks pretty fun to me :P I guess I wouldn't buy a sled and a bunch of dogs though...

I use adblocker program, so I do not see such adds. The big advantage to using an adblock program is that your web browsing will become quicker and pages will load faster for you. This, and the added security of the adblock program blocking potentially compromised flash or other ads that can be used to infect your computer with a virus.

I strongly suggest, IF you live in the USofA, that you start using a VPN NOW for all of your browsing of the interwebs.

Why? This is because Trump got rid of internet privacy rules. The change allows your ISP to track your web behavior and sell this information to any of the internet's advertisng agencies, so that they may target you directly with customized advertising. This will go into effect at the end of 2018. For now, ISPs will 'not' track your browsing information. While they may not be doing it actively now, you can easily come to the conclusion that they are (or have already) developing the technology to record and compile such information. Once this law goes into effect, all that your ISP would need to do is use it's back-dated stored history of your internet usage and quickly ship out that information for sale to the internet advertisers as of Jan 1 of 2019.

While you can use an adblock program to prevent such adds from being on your pages. Your internet privacy is far more valuable and can only be protected by using a VPN. Preferrably a VPN that is NOT part of the 14 nations that shares information with the US or other governments.

Educate yourself now. Become active in protecting our liberties on the internet - regardless of your nation of citiizinship. Because once you loose your privacy or other rights, they ain't coming back.

Wouldn't it be necessary to change your DNS server too? To one that doesn't keep logs and supports DNSCrypt for example. Or does a VPN encrypt DNS requests as well?

You want to click it just to see what happens, don't you? That's why it makes you feel uncomfortable, doesn't it?

They come and go, but blocking third party cookies means I get a lot of weird ads, since interest tracking is mitigated. Lately SG's been giving me a lot of ads for Muslim and Russian dating sites.

Thanks for gibs. <3
