Yesterday was a historic evening for me. I completed the game Oxenfree, which was the first game I've actually played to the end since Skyrim on the Ps3, like 5 years ago.

I've always had the habit of playing games and stopping midway to try another game... Tomb Raider, Witcher 2, Victor Vran, Pokemon X... are all games I've enjoyed but randomly ditched. Even Tales of Symphonia, one of my very favorite RPGs, I stopped right before the final boss (;.

And when I think about it, it's not only games that I don't complete. Hobbies such as singing, playing the piano, the guitar, nail art ( I mean nail polish not hammering nails to a canvas:^) ), are all skills I've picked up partly and then moved on from. What's my problem? D:

This also includes TV shows I really enjoyed, such as Gotham, Revolution, and House MD, that I randomly stopped for no reason. I'm mostly okay with books - those I usually finish, thank God (;.

Anyway, last week, I was thinking about it, and I decided to push myself to finish games that I enjoy! Perhaps start collecting achievements and perfect games sometimes too. Yesterday, I was going to try some random game, but I lit up a candle, made some tea, and forced myself to finish Oxenfree. It was awesome! The game is great ,and witnessing the ending of a game is an amazing thing!

So yeah. Watch me, because I'm on FIRE now!

Oh, and I may have a couple of games for you guys:)

Good luck!

Maybe you would enjoy playing shorter games. When I don't feel like playing a game that will take 20 to 60 hours to complete and just want to play something short like 1-6 hours, I go to http://howlongtobeat.com (don't need to log in, just enter your username), sort all my games by length, and starting from the shortest ones I make a list of games I am in the mood to play.

You're welcome. Another site I find useful sometimes is http://www.lorenzostanco.com/lab/steam/

You can pull up your steam games just like the other site and you can filter your games by tags if you are looking to play a certain type of game. There's a couple other filters and sort options as well.

Oh my gooooosh. If only I had seen this post 2 hours ago:).

My friend came over so we'd play SOMA together. But then we saw the trailer and decided it was just too scary for us. So she asked if I had some random local coop game we could play, but I didn't know how to filter my games by tag... so I said I don't know, I have too many games.

Soooo instead I just drove her home, and came back, and came here.. and saw this ._.

Oh well, you learn something new every day. Now you will be more prepared for next time :)

There's a bunch of different filters and tags for the same thing under different names. You would probably only want to search for one at a time or else it will filter out games that are not listed in all the categories you chose. For example, in features they have: co-op, local co-op, local multi-player, multi-player, and shared/split screen. (Edit: They have added the option for and/or filter logic so you can use multiple filters better now.)

You can also filter out tags. If you don't want to play a horror, just click horror twice and it will remove all horror games from the results.

I died yesterday doing a 350 pieces puzzle on Pixel Puzzle Anime.... spent like 6-7 hours and my eyes are bloody red. I think that's one game I'll never complete, lol.

I need to test Oxenfree soon, got it downloaded already.

I know what you mean, I've been half-completing games for quite a while and when I go back to them I feel like I have to start all over to get a feel for them again, or remember what the story's all about. Then I get halfway through again and the cycle starts anew...

Congrats on your completion (that sounds weird to say), just finished my first run-through of Undertale last week which had been on my backburner for a while now, so maybe there's hope for us yet :)

Congrats! Been on a decent streak of that myself lately!
Finally finished Driver: San Francisco, that I'd been wanting to completely go through ever since it was one of the few games Yahtzee actually seemed to really enjoy (his taste in games is often similar to mine). Then a smaller game, Abandoned, after winning its sequel, Through Abandoned 2 here on SG (and finished that one today). And a couple days ago, I finished Transistor! I think I liked the combat in that one a lot more than Bastion (which I've been close to finishing, but haven't gone back to in a long time).

As for Skyrim... still working on it. Not even modded. Just trying to finish all the quests (for a single playthrough) that I can before I bother wrapping up the story. (Oblivion disappointed me when I blew threw all the story quests and finished the game in what felt like a few hours (probably days though), so I'm a side-quest-a-holic in Skyrim now.)

And thank you for the gibs! :) Took three tries for Q3 for me.... /smh

Congrats on completing Oxenfree!
My last completed game was Tomb Raider (if you don't count multiplayer achievements).

I have ADHD so not being able to complete things and/or switching from one thing to another is something I struggle with. Been trying to find some online resources to come up with some solutions that work for me. Stumbled upon this website that seems promising.

Coincidentally, I also finished Oxen free over the weekend. I enjoyed the music and atmosphere.

Despite having some great games to play in my backlog, I can't stop playing Spelunky. I want to get the Hell and Back achievement, and I've been frustratingly close several times. It's actually driving me insane.

I'm totally the opposite of you... I feel the need to finish them (games and everything else) :o I like to see the end and what happen... maybe because I'm a curious person :P
My 'problem' is get all achievements in any game I'm playing because it makes me take forever to finish the game or to move to another one D:
But now that you finished your first game, maybe this will motivate you to keep finishing them :3
Anyway, congratulations completing Oxenfree!! I heard amazing things about this game, what made me put it in my wishlist, and soon it will be in my library \o/

Also, after I joined BLAEO website/group, this helped me to play more of my games :3

btw... I always liked Harry Potter books... still like, just not as much as when I was a kid :p

You must try it!
My suggestion is, don't read anything about it until you play, take a free day when you can put a few hours into it and finish it in one go. It will take you less time than Oxenfree and your first time on it deserves an uninterrupted experience.
Send me a message after you give it a go, I really like to hear about people reactions to their first time playing it. :)

I feel really bad when I "abandon" a game. Which happens more often than I want. I do my best to complete them. I dont do achievs though.

Funnily. I kinda "sense" when I am near the end of the game (sometimes by how the story is coming along) and that makes me lose the will to play. I have stopped some games due to that.

Kudos!

I usually finish every anime/manga I start before moving to the next one, same with games and series in general.
Sadly lately I haven't been able to play much due to college and stuff, but I'm too stubborn and won't start any other games until I'm done with the one I'm currently playing.

This doesn't apply to non-storydriven games, as I usually play until I'm bored (like MMOs, then regret my decision because I could've used that time playing something else).

Dat hint though, 2ez4me (not really, but it was fun)

I usually finish short anime, but the big mainstream ones (Naruto, Bleach, Fairy Tail, One Piece)... I've all dropped at one point or the other, randomly even though I enjoy them ;x

The secret is to watch 12-24 episode animes. I just don't have the patience to watch the ones that are over 100 episodes.
The longest anime I've watched (I'm not taking into account dbz as I was a kid at the time) was Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood with 64 episodes.
I've read quite a few mangas, however, and I'm currently reading Gintama (over 600 chapters long).

I don't have that many games but struggle to start them, probably because of PC setup. Even on console I slack off, outside of sports games, or something I'm crazy about. (I should really finish Uncharted 4 too)

That said, I'd trade 90% of all my games for a very fun, local co-op experience. Real life gets in the way and I'll rarely pass on being able to play a sport/be active over sitting on me buns, staring at a screen. Congrats on pushing it. Bigger congrats if anyone reads this! BiggerER congrats if I am able to find this topic and post again, I'm a complete idiot/always lost in this website.

I only got through the 1st chapter of Back to the Future when it was free back in the PS3 days, haha. I'd not mind watching those games be played at all. It was like that with Uncharted 2, I loved playing through it and also greatly enjoyed just watching as my ex played through way back in the day.

Last non-sports game I finished was Saint Seiya: Soldiers' Soul, but I can't recommend it to anyone who isn't a fan - or especially die-hard fan! - to buy it. I'm going for full completion of all challenges and everything on that one!
