I'm here for about 5 months now, have participated 1250 GA's and didn't win anything. I've contributed 6 games to this community, for nothing. I've started looking up the winners of recent GA's I've entered, and as far as I'm concerend, there are 9 out of 10 people who've won much more than they've gifted, gosh there are people with 50+ wins each year... I've started blacklisting them, cause I have to consider them bots, even if they participate in discussions doesn't mean they don't use scripts to enter GA's. There's about 1 out of 10 person who has a - imho - realistic win rate, and an - again imho - acceptable won/sent ratio, who I whitelist immediatly (not that i'm ever gonna create another GA on SG).

So can anybody please explain to me: If you're a honest person who does not consider using a script to constantly enter every giveaway, what's the point of SG then?

An aquatic or terrestrial annelid worm with suckers at both ends. Many species are bloodsucking parasites, especially of vertebrates, and others are predators.

I think you're in the wrong section. You should consider looking in the trade section instead...

Yo, to everyone talking down to jdee here: the site is called Steam Gifts, and the reason most of us joined was, well... to win free games. Who the hell thinks "oh, look: a site where I can spend my money on games for other people I don't even know!" honestly? At one point or another, everyone realizes it feels good to give, although it's usually not until the winner of one of their GA's actually seems to play the game, or until they finally win sometime themselves. My first win took about a month and over 1K entries. And the game runs like absolute shit, but that was the first time I've ever won anything.

Anyways, just keep entering games. It may take a while, especially if you only enter for games you think you'd actually play, but it'll happen. And there's groups out there to help, such as Unlucky-7. Search the forums for Unlucky-7 and request to join the group. I won a few and gave a few games on there :)

Sharing the fun. At least, I mostly make giveaways for games that I personally enjoyed.
And sharing is caring and all that.

Of course, if you only care for yourself and resent strangers by default, that does mean you're in the wrong place.

For me, I started making giveaways here basically since I had hundreds to thousands of spare/leftover/unused keys from buying bundles and I thought it was a shame to just have those wasting away being unactivated and unloved. My main reason for doing trades and making giveaways is basically to share the joy of gaming with others instead of just having these resources rotting away doing nothing. Coming from that perspective, I also sometimes will make "unbundled"/high-value giveaways to share interesting games that I either love or feel deserve more attention or to simply engage others in the act of unbridled gaming enthusiasm.

I think you are being reasonable for entering only games you want to play. But it truly is about luck, RNG doesn't care if you have given something away or not. Keep entering and you will win something eventually. Just don't give away to win. And if you care about what happens to the games you give away, consider joining some groups or whitelist people who play their wins. Most people just hoard stuff here cause it's free. Good games are rarely given away to the public.
I actually whitelisted you because I like winners who are picky about their games.

You have to stop looking at steamgifts as an investment to getting all the games on your wishlist. More than likely if you want a game you'll buy it because chances of winning it here are slim yet fun to participate in. GLHF.

Best-Thread-Eva. But seriously, what's the point of this site? We all know it's a scam, for profitz™.
Not to mention every time you get yourself noticed, you get new blacklists. Seriously (yes, again), I just get new blacklists for doing the Sometimes Weekly Community Giveaway.

Edit: Almost forgot to rant about it: This is my third month in a row with red luck.

Don't know if it's been mentioned, but you might want to join Unlucky-7, a group for those who haven't won many games.

A for the point of SG, it's a game. If you like games of chance and wasting time on them, it's a good place to be. If you want to win specific games, prepare for a long wait. If you want to win, you need to either spam the giveaways, or enter those with fewer entries, such as puzzles. Problem is that SG is a really elitist site, and many people make only mid-level giveaways.

Really, the main reason I stay here is to read the forum and occasionally post, plus I give occasionally for Unlucky-7 (although last giveaway I made had only one entry).

Keep it going, keep on entering GA. When i first joined SG it took 9 month till i first won something. but now i'm quite happy with my winning rate. It will happen sometime, dont give up ;)
and within my ressources i try to give something back to the community aswell.

EDIT: https://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/j5RUn/robot-roller-derby-disco-dodgeball

I joined because I had a bunch of extra keys from bundles, and thought it was a shame that those games would go unplayed forever.

I've found that I really enjoy the process of giving away games. I buy a lot of bundles and will always have extra keys, so why not give them away?

I don't really care if I ever win another game -- I've already won more than I expected. (I only enter games that I am legitimately interested in adding to my Steam library, and I don't use bots or scripts).

Oh, and I don't think I've played more than 1 or 2 of the games I've won...but that's because I have a huge backlog and not that much time to play. It shouldn't matter when I play a game that I've won. I can still be grateful, even if I don't plan to play a game for 2-3 years. I am very grateful to have won anything.

If you're "checking up" on winners to make sure that they are getting the "appropriate" amount of enjoyment from your gifts...that's ridiculous, and you may want to talk to a therapist. You may have a bit of a "control" problem. You should try to just "let go" of the games you give away. You will be happier and less stressed.

Bottom line: the site is not the problem. Your approach is the problem.

50+ there are people with 100+ or even 500+ gifts a year, it's nothing surprising but to have this score you need to participate in SG life

Well, now your chances of winning will be even lower, you will get a lot of black lists for your own stupidity, you join giveaways with around 2000 entries, some with 200-600 and you expect to win something by now while it is only about luck.
