Sausage Party
It was really detailed. I enjoyed it, but it was fairly crude and is so not for kids. :)

Hush
Home Invasion where the main character is deaf. Not exactly ground breaking, or original
Its a Mike Flanagan movie, which means you can at least expect competent horror, its well paced, tense, well acted.
It just offers nothing new to the genre, not even a small twist to the formula
5/10
February
It wants to be The Shining (Kubrick) so much. I got no clue on how this got such positive reviews.
well shot, well acted, overall decent, except for the ending. It's disappointing how straight forward it was. But i could just watch Shining
5/10
Sphere
Ive seen it a couple of times.
while i do agree its not a good movie, in fact, its a formula, many other movies have the same premise. It has a strong first half and a pretty good location, that has to count for something.
5/10
Capote
Cant really go wrong with Bennett Miller all of his movies are good. the acting in particular is suberb.
It might be a bit long, especially when it's pretty on point, very little dramatized gritty bio. But i never lost interest in the main character, if not just for how perfect Hoffman is in his role.
7.5/10
I Saw the Devil
I own it, but it was on TV so i watched it again, what was i suposed to do, not watch it?

Sphere was 10/10 for me, so mysterious and that damn twist at the end! Sci-fi perfection. Capote was so damn hard to watch but it was decent. I Saw the Devil is the best revenge movie ever imo.

I think it's either Blue Ruin or Bronson's Death Wish for me, but the action is always better in korean movies

Korean movies are the best movies in the world IMO and I'm not joking. Photography in their movies is just out of this world.

Well, when it comes to cinematography and fight coordination, hollywood has always been far from asian cinema, it used to be chinese, now its korean, but surely getting there...recently i even seen a fight scene from Netflix Daredevil, that clearly took inspiration from Oldboy.
With that said, there is a lot to look at, in blue ruin, there is major significance to every scene. Even the title itself and its relation to the car.
It's also not just tainted blue, like every other film these days.
really, a lot of work was put into it, to make it feel empty, cold, desolate

Yesterday I finally got to watch Pride and Prejudice and Zombies on cable. I have to say, it really was pretty good.
Just now I watched the 2015 remake of Poltergeist on cable. Do yourselves a favor and stay as far away from this piece of shit as you can. It was bad. Really really bad. It was god AWFUL! An hour and a half of my life I'll never get back. I was right,. It was truly a blasphemy of the original.

Das kleine Gespenst (1992)... which translate to The Little Ghost, but i don't think it ever got an english release.
I watched it, because i saw it on Amazon Prime and i... think... my father took me to the theater and it was like my first movie i watched in a cinema when i was about 5. To say, this is an awful movie, with no redeming qualities, bad animation, bad voice acting, bad story, badly written characters... nothing about this was interesting.

FINALLY got to watch Star Trek Beyond.
Sorry for the bad pun here but it went Beyond even MY expectations. Wow. I like Justin Lin as a director already,
DAMN, this one EASILY beat out Into Darkness as a great film. A couple of nice nod's to Leonard Nimoy and the original crew as well as a nice mention for Anton Yelchin too.
EASILY a must see movie.

Manglehorn (2014) - Good drama starring Al Pacino. It's about an old man full of regrets and bitterness which affects people who come in contact with him. 7/10
The Accountant (2016) - Saw it in the cinema. It's a very good mix of crime/drama/comedy and an action movie starring Ben Affleck. Something different than the rest of the movies, worth a watch. 8/10
Intouchables (2011) - Very good French drama but not as great as people paint it to be. It's not extraordinary in any way. 8/10
Jack Reacher (2012) - For the second time. Still a very good crime/spy/action movie starring Tom Cruise. 8/10
Doctor Strange (2016) - Saw it in the cinema. Best visuals in movies since Inception. Feast for the eyes. Plus a very well made comic adaptation, fun, interesting and just great all around. 9/10

Love & Peace
Japan's version of Babe the pig.
Maybe a bit more mature and comedic than that, but i don't really cared for it.
I'm comfortable with these movies, when it has a big budget or at the very least uses real animals.
The fake turtle, is just nightmarish looking, its Eraserhead levels of creepy. The dogs just stand there, although im sure its no easy task to "direct" animals.
5/10
Cosmopolis
Cronenberg's adaptation of Don DeLillo novel, starring Robert Pattinson which surprisingly fits the role pretty well.
I may end up liking this movie at some point, though one thing should be obvious, certain things are not meant for the big screen.
For starters it's a mean spirited movie, there is 0% chance it will ever resonate with someone. If you are a soulless, mercilessness corporate executive you'll most likely wont appreciate that portrayal, everyone else is already tired of seeing these people in real life.
The other problem, is that the transition to video means it consists of people speaking in a philosophical manner, which certainly be more detailed in a book, not to mention being able to follow at your own pace.
At the very least is a gorgeous movie, i do love the limo alot which essentially is the menu screen for the movie.
One thing i can really hold against it. It's way too plot convenient.
Now, this is the plot and i hope someone, someday will make a movie about it:
In a dystopian future a wall street millionaire takes his limo across town, where he has a bounty on his head. All for a fucking hair cut.
5/10
Riddick
This week the movie that didn't deliver was my favorite.
I kinda want to be pissed. The last movie had so much lore it ruined it. This one has nothing. So nothing new to add, it doesn't even need to be cannon for all i care.
Also...good job with these titles...what will be the next? Riddick 2, Riddick´s Origins, Legacy of Riddick.
7/10

I loved Cosmopolis. Great movie all around. Don't get the hate at all.

Well, i'm somewhere in between. To resume my rant:
It's filled with horrible people, Its plot convenient

I'm also somewhere in between. I've read the book and loved it long before the movie was done. Unfortunately it is the great style of writing I loved which for sure can't be delivered in the movie. But this has been one of these view indie movies where I've had the whole cinema alone for me and my girlfriend ;)... Same recently with Neon Demon.

Same XD...no one went to watch Neon Demon especially after the negative reviews from critics.
I can't say they where wrong, but i thought it was one of the most gorgeous movies that year.
That's what happens when you try mixing Black Swan with the structure of Inland Empire

Haha, I've enjoyed it also quite a lot, reviews did not bother me, a new movie by Refn was enough info for me. I wished there would have been a bit more real depth, seemed a bit shallow for me, but probably that was intended as one of the messages of the movie and the whole model business. Visual and experience wise it was really good however. I've also enjoyed Only God Forgives very much, probably even more than Drive despite the fact that Drive is Refns blockbuster. Black Swan otherwise, which I absolutely adore, had much more emotional aspects for me than Neon Demon, your comparison is good nevertheless. Still need to finish watching Inland Empire. I've started watching it but... even for a Lynch movie this is a bit difficult for me, I feel ashamed for fallen asleep ;)

The Untouchables
One of the movies I keep getting back to on a regular basis. While the first The Godfather is probably the best mafia movie ever made, this one comes second in my book.

It's tied for number 3, along with Godfather part 2 and Goodfellas

Doctor Strange Brilliant movie imo, highly suggest it

I've been avoiding these series, i don't even have a clue if these movies are decent or not.
Its just that, for me, the small details in Tremors made the movie, not the monster

I saw The Accountant at the movies:). It's not a masterpiece, but I was pleasantly surprised with it.
I thought it'd be a super corny action + 'super intelligence' movie (not that there's anything wrong with that)... it was half that, but also a little deeper than I imagined:)... talks a bit about autism in children.
Plus, Ben Affleck played his role well!

Aye, very good movie :) It had great comedy bits lol. Social awkwardness ftw.

Equilibrium, I just wanted to watch a movie and netflix suggested it to me.
Not bad but the zero subtlety approach it has made me feel like the movie was trying to explain its point by shouting it at full volume, it was entertaining anyway. The highlights were the choreography, the architecture and the general visual language.

Rurōni Kenshin: Meiji kenkaku roman tan and Rurōni Kenshin: Densetsu no saigo-hen, AKA Kenshin live actions 2&3. I saw the first one last year without expecting too much, but I liked it, so when I remembered these movies last week I searched for the rest of them. The movies are set in the Shishio arc, and I like them, even if it started slowly. They feauture some great fight scenes and, even if we all know japanese live actions can be a bit mmm overacted, I enjoyed ^^

Here we go, I'll start.
Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark (2010) - This movie is a joke. At first it's interesting, then it's boring and then it's just funny/pathetic. And they put it in a "horror" genre. Words are not sufficient. Nosferatu is turning in his grave. 3/10
