Easy. Name 1, pick 1 and watch it. Can be a classic, and indie movie, a short film or your favorite movie.

I really think that everyone should watch Fight Club. A life-changing film.

Now its YOUR turn.

Well an easy one : You should all watch "La Jetée" from Chris Marker. It's the best sci-fi movie ever and with only one single moving image :p

I watched it recently and I am really impressed that movie was filmed in 1962. It is short and worth to see, people.

I was gonna recommend Life is Beautiful, but it has been already XD While I think of something else I'll recommend 1, 2, 3, 4 and5 to the russians: if you haven't watched them already, you really should. (Couldnt' decide on one :P)
EDIT: dang, came back to recommend Equilibrium, but it was already recommended. My search goes on. ><
EDIT2: and Children of Men too... Q_Q

That movie is a true emotional rollercoaster. The beautiful and sweet way their romance unfolds, and then..one of the most heartbreaking movies ever made. Are those others all Russian-language?

Prety much yeah. They are some classic soviet comedies, meant for a soviet public. Not sure if they ever even got translated.

Little Big Man http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0065988/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_62 It is in my top 5 and the most obscure in there so that is why I picked that one from my list of greats. It is an amazing tale and still stands good today despite its age.

Also, The Breakfast Club. People like to bash it, but it's still one of my favorite movies.

Anime is not for everybody, and I don't think that movie will be the better to introduce someone. I like Satoshi Kon but his movies are... specials, you know :P Tokyo Godfathers is more "normal" and can appeal to more people

I love movies that are, in a way or another, tributes to the cinema itself, so if I'd need to choose something more "occidental" I'd recommend Cinema Paradisso insetad.

Alongside Miyazaki he is one of the best anime directors.
i kind of agree, not everyone one will enjoy it, his movies always have a portrait of an otaku, usually represented in the worst kind of way
Millenium Actress on the other hand shows a person that as fallen deeply in love with an actress, but it's a heartwarming movie with a relatable character
Millennium Princess is probably one of his most accessible movies.

Oh damn there are so many very nice movies out there in the world.
I really enjoyed watching "Daddy´s Little Girl" or the "Rambo"-Movies.
But as I need to mention one movie I would say "Fast and Furios 7". Maybe not the best movie in the world but..yeah..go and watch the "Fast and Furious"-movies and then watch the 7th part. The background of the ending is just so fucking impressive. So pls go and watch it^^
PS: Or when u are from Germany then u need to watch "Das Boot" it´s just a must-watch :D

Well, I see that nobody has mentioned it here yet so I will throw out the one movie I love that's not been talked about.

Magnolia by Paul Thomas Anderson. Have loved this since I saw it in 1999 working at a movie theater.
