Hello folks,

I really need your help. I finished all Kingdom Hearts games the 3th time to be prepared for Kingdom Hearts 3. After the the Final Battle Trailer I am totally dying. I need this game. I really love the story telling and the emotions (Soras despair at the end, holy cow)
So there is still a month to go and I even have some free days and need some games with great stories.
I really need to sink into the story to forget about Kingdom hearts for a month, Please I need your help.....

Some games I played and enjoyed the Story, just to let you know.

Bioshock Series
Devil may cry series (well the story is not really totally amazing but i liked this cheesy kind of storytelling)
Dragon Age: Origins
Nearly all Final fantasy main titles
God of War
Nier
Persona Revelation
All quantic dreams games (Heavy Rain, Fahrenheit, Beyond two sould, detroit become human)
Wolfs among us
Walking dead
Suikoden 1+2
Tales of Symphonia
Witcher Series
White Knight chronicles
Beyond Good and Evil

So it doesnt matter which console. I have a 3ds,pc,ps4 and switch. I need your help! It doesnt matter if its a rpg, shooter, adventure or whatever. I just want to enjoy my time.
Actually I play Divine Divinity, feels a bit like a normal standard fantasy story. Hopefully the others are better, I have all games of this series but cant find myself diving deeper in.

A little GAfor your time.

A lot of great choices here.
I'll add 3 games that haven't been listed yet:

The Beginner's Guide
Inside
Toonstruck

I'll also have to mention Petscop, but unfortunately you won't be able to play it for yourself, but you should totally give it a watch :)
Best storytelling I've ever experienced, no joke.

Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 are among the best stories ever. No need to play prior or later games for understanding.
Sillent Hill 1-3 and Shattered Memories.
Tales of Vesperia. Story itself is nothing special, but it's incredibly well told.
Tales of Hearts R. Stuck on Vita, sadly.
Ys 8

I'm glad you mentioned Suikoden series. Imo 3-4-5-Tactics are also great storywise. Series always showed different perspectives on war, racism, sexism and much more in it's fantastical world. In 90's! Too bad Konami disbanded team. Even most people hate Konami for their doing on Metal Gear, i hate em mostly for Suikoden. Much more silent. Much more deadly.

Anyway, there are great suggestions but Final Fantasy 8 should be number 1.

Sorry if most of these have been said already, I'm just going through my steam library.

  • Alan Wake: A psychological thriller that took inspiration from Stephen King and Twin Peaks. The DLC is a nice addition but American Nightmare can be passed if you aren't interested in it.
  • Life Is Strange: The weird teenage lingo will take some getting used to, but I think this game has a fantastic emotional story. I've heard the same thing about the sequel so far too, although I haven't played LIS 2 yet.
  • LISA: An RPG-Maker game, but not like others you've played. It balances dark comedy and emotional moments into a surprisingly deep story.
  • Bastion and Transistor: Supergiant makes great narrative driven games.
  • Oneshot: If you have a chance, go into this completely blind!
  • Oxenfree: creepy story with a mystery. This one benefits from being played a second time.
  • Rakuen: High-quality Rpg-Maker game with a sweet and emotional story. Characters are also wonderful.
  • Spec Ops: The Line: This was marketed as a generic shooter but has a deep story under that facade. Don't google the story and just give it a try if you have it. It's fairly short.
  • Subsurface Circular: Mostly a text-based game. From the creators of Thomas Was Alone, so you know it has some good dialogue.
  • Thomas Was Alone: How do they make me feel emotions for these shapes... how?
  • The Cat Lady: This is a very dark game with a gripping story. The story kept me going straight through the game even though I'm a giant wuss.
  • Too The Moon: Another Rpg-Maker game with a sweet and sorrowful story.
  • Valiant Hearts: The Great War: A puzzle game about war that isn't too deep and dark but has you invested until the end.
  • Kentucky Route Zero: I love this game but who knows if they'll ever release that last chapter :(
  • Tales from the Borderlands: You mentioned TWD and TWAU but you didn't mention this Telltale game. This one is by far my favorite and is hilarious with likable characters. I played this before I played any Borderlands game so prior knowledge of the Borderlands universe is not needed.
  • The Beginners Guide: Another short game that should just be given a shot with no spoilers if you have it in your library.
  • Yakuza 0: I'm still at the beginning of the game, but so far the story is intense and the characters are really unique!

Not sure about it, I quickly test it and the story looked promising: Bear With Me

Furi for PC(ps4 too), controller very recommended, beautiful soundtracks and gameplay execution, as well as a story I would like to tell nothing about, not even a word.

I'm a big fan of kh too, I don't like the new "face my fears" song (remixed) but I like utada and the rest of her songs, also the style of the new kh3 is way so different (graphically) than the others, and similar in gameplay as BBS (or at least following the one from 2.8 a fragmentary passage)

Dishonored (1 and 2): I prefer the first one before the second one, I haven't finished the second one yet (so maybe I cannot judge like that), but that's a game with beautiful soundtracks and rich stories.

Following Square Enix a little bit, I would go for Final Fantasy XIII, of all those Final Fantasy I have played, this is the one I most liked (cannot compare with FF15 cause graphics lead).

I would strongly recommend to play Furi and discover the story by yourself, there is enough time and you should like it.
