even, if you had read your own article, it clearly points out reasons and accessibilties, it's not that plain easy as you're trying to picture it

but i will quote some sentences from your article, to show how hilarious the matter is:
"The important thing for us is that Russian journalists should feel comfortable and not face discrimination," Lavrov was cited as saying by state news agency Tass.
In September, YouTube shut two German-language RT channels on the grounds that they were spreading misinformation on coronavirus.
Considered Kremlin-friendly, RT has generated controversy in many countries. In the United States, it was required to register as a "foreign agent." The United Kingdom has threatened to revoke its license. RT is banned in several countries, including the ex-Soviet states of Lithuania and Latvia.

at least it's independent from government, also your arguments doesn't count for every independent media, again trying to paint a simple picture, maybe that works with russian audience, but we're a lot smarter

but maybe the concept of free and independent media in a liberal democracy is still odd for you

Well, in Ukraine, almost all the media belong to the oligarchs, Kolomoisky, Pinchuk, Firtash, Akhmetov and so on. None of them is part of the government directly. But each of them has its puppets in it, including the main puppet - Zelensky. The state does not sponsor their media, they pay for them from their own pocket. But their media promote their own interests, their own puppets in the government. I wouldn't call it independent media.

I think your media also have owners. And whether you like it or not, they influence the editorial policy of their media. Therefore, I would think carefully about whether there really is an independent media at all. Most likely, it can be independent only at the initial stage of its foundation, when no one knows this media yet. But with the acquisition of recognition, the audience, the owner of this media receives power, and decides how to dispose of it

Currently, apart from Akhmetov, the situation has not changed much

i also read a news that the richest Ukrainian sold his media enterprises, because Ukraine made a law, who forbids this

If you are talking about this, then this law still isn't working. They almost year couldn't create list of oligarchs. Latest news was that they almost almost almost create this list (https://www.slovoidilo.ua/2022/07/12/novyna/bezpeka/reyestr-oliharxiv-ukrayini-rnbo-zayavyly-proces-jde-sam-reyestr-vzhe-hotovyj).Only after that, maybe, it will start work (nope).

Akhmetov lost half or more of his assets, he loses his politican weight, therefore he isn't interested in politician life in Ukraine, and want to save money (stop spending it on media), I suppose. He is going to leave Ukraine and withdraw as much money as possible with him. He will move to France on his villa

In nearest future, probably more of them will start sell their media, but not due to law. It's because of war. And again, their media will not become independent, they will just find the new owner

Healthy competition between oligarchs is still better than state-sponsored nation-wide propaganda like in Russia, don't you think?

Yep, so healthy, that they initiated coup d'etat, and later started war on the East. I'd call it extremely healthy.
And what would you say about closing all media independent from president in last year? And now all them are united in one channel with "state-sponsored nation-wide propaganda like in Russia".

about who is that exactly - and Akhmetov, who was an éminence grise of the Party of Regions that led Ukraine into deepest crisis ever.

You probably poorly followed the political situation in the country, and did not notice either Rotterdam +, or much else that was adopted in the country in the interests of Akhmetov. And didn't noticed how he is connected with current government

Germany banned a TV station, that did not have a license to broadcast. Fair enough. Coincidentally it happened to be Putin TV, airing Putin fairy tales. Russia banned DW, which is not affiliated with the state and been on air in RU since the late 80s in return for banning Putin TV RT DE, which HAD NO FUCKING LICENCE IN THE FIRST PLACE TO AIR THEIR SHIT. Just a pathetic counterattack by RU, against people that do not have anything to do with the ban of RT or the missing broadcast license of RT, because RU didn't have anything better to do. And yeah, very interesting as you said.

And banning shit in Russia isn't much of a surprise, everything that tells the truth is a threat to Putin and his bandit government

you see, that is the point... these guys simply are not normal. Instead of acknoledging that the whole pointless invasion simply brought suffering and death upon those involved, they start pointing fingers.

imho the only ones that are allowed to complain are the ukrainian civilians, starting from the first invasion 2014. No matter how those drones want to spin it, the death in Donbas is all the fault off that very russian involvement and they are simply not being capable to accept that the people of ukraine have a right to live without outside meddling.

The fact that they do not see that they are simple stupid tools and keep getting setup with talking points by russian state propaganda is just honestly hilarious (might be the wrong word though, but you get the idea i think) to me. And tbh, at this point there is nothing left but to feel pitty for them as they seem to be a lost cause.

2014 insurgency was staged and paid for by russia. There were numerous times people have posted evidence, even in this thread. So no, fuck off, this is russia's fault the Donbass region is on fire.
Second, "real help" in feb 2022. What a load of bullshit. Just in the first month you have killed over 10 times more Ukrainians than for 8 last years. Moreover, the amount of civillians killed is astronomical - but only because of uncontrolled bombing and rocket strikes.
Help? Tell that to Mariupol. Help? Tell that to Kyiv, tell that to almost every city in Ukraine. When russia came with "help", every city started to BURN. Doesn't look like help to me.
Also, what are you helping us with in Kherson, huh? If you wanted to HELP Donbass region, you would have taken it by force, and stopped there. But no, you went to Kyiv, you dropped bombs on almost every city, you fired over 2500 rockets onto our land.

So shut the fuck up with your "HELP". russia only brings devastation and death, no help.

Do I argue that he was shot down not by Buk, this is not. I'm not arguing, I'm only noticing an inaccuracy about the location of the launcher and its capabilities. But I didn’t even think about arguing about which installation the rocket left.

Actually, the missile launch point gives a lot, you can find out by controlling what forces this point was and what forces were there at that moment. If you know where they were shooting from, then it is much easier to find out who fired, unless it is a deserted area.

Hmmm... Your argument is soooo dumb. Who is using physics, authors of your "proofs"? It's something as "RuSSia physics for creating fakes"?

Some real physic and math for you:
Kinetic and potential energy - use google, its something from elementary schools
Max speed of BUK missile is about MACH3 (or higher, depends on version), it cross 7km in 8,4s,its not too much, what you think?
How can something fly without fuel? Example: You know howitzers, right? The shell is accelerating in 10m long barrel and then fly for next 30km. How is it possible? MAGIC!!! 😮 (you can imagine something smaller:when you throw a rock and release it from your hand, what happens? It doesnt have fuel, so it fall right on yor foot, right? 😅)

Did they take into account everything, but what about the operating time of a solid fuel engine for 20 seconds? I'm not talking about 7 km, I'm talking about the additional 7 km that have appeared. 25 km, according to some data, there is an option for 32 km, but the target was hit at 39 km. I'm just talking about the last 7 km, if we take this range of 32 km. Yes, and it’s very difficult to shoot when the target is not visible, and the backlight radar works at 42 km (enough with a flight range of 32 km, here you just need to shoot faster due to the fact that the target will leave). But even when starting at 42 km, the meeting will not be at 39, but much closer.
Howitzer, great, do not forget that it will be necessary to calculate the range at 10 km upwards, and not horizontally, or is this news again? And so the longest range when shooting will be at 45 degrees, and if you shoot in the mountains with a height of 3000 meters, you can shoot even further. But it will be necessary to calculate at 10 km, the object is located there.

https://www.steamgifts.com/go/comment/0P9fM3G Read and understand that the Security Service of Ukraine is just lying. And many people know this, why they don’t just run to court, if there were very good evidence, then there would already be a hearing, if there were good evidence, then there would already be a hearing, if there were average evidence, then there would be a hearing and now there would be a debate . But there is still no court. Moreover, they went to court after relatives sued. And if you look at the protocol with such actions, then as soon as one country files a lawsuit against another country in the same case, then all considerations of individuals are postponed until a decision is made on the states. Only after that there will be a decision on private claims. You may not believe it, but read the rules of procedure in this court.

Interesting interpretation. If the media from Russia are blocked, then this is correct, but if they are blocked in Russia, then this is lawlessness and a restriction of rights and freedoms. Let's approach with one criterion, there are locks and there is no lock. And then we will create this list. Only now I'm afraid there will be one mainland in this list and this is Antarctica.

Stop spreading that bullshit opinion about freedom of speech in Latvia. Propogandist asshole gets sentenced for criminal offences against the country and of course his channel will be cancelled. It is misinformation what PBK did and farewell these types of media channels. As I said - I agree to a point outright banning media maybe was not a good solution, but it is better like this then to have outright propaganda that constantly threatens to invade everyone and with WW3. You have mental media. Absolutely mental.

As for your constant backtracking to this idiocy - Those are totally two different scopes if we are comparing media bans in west and media bans in Russia. We are banning info that is coming out of one country. Call it how you want it - we are specifically working on silencing one country that is constantly turning facts around and lying to everyone's face. On the other hand you are banning media from ALL of the world. who is in the wrong here huh?

This is literally the Principal Skinner meme "are we the ones spreading misinformation? No it must be the whole world that is wrong". So we have a dictatorship banning anyone speaking against them while you try to compare it to the whole world banning single sources from one specific country that just has started a war.

Not that any of the banning of media is in its essence good, it is not even comparable. Really - how twisted the logic must be to compare the two?

Well, from March 2022, criminal articles can already be introduced in the Russian Federation against the media that spread nonsense and then it will not be necessary to say that there is no freedom of speech. So we came up with the same steps.

As for your constant backtracking to this idiocy - Those are totally two different scopes if we are comparing media bans in west and media bans in Russia. On the other hand you are banning media from ALL of the world. who is in the wrong here huh?

And how is the ban on information from the EU (main Brussels) different from the ban from Russia or do we use double standards? Is it a ban on the whole world? And you just lied. Belarus is also in the link, or have you forgotten?

Not that any of the banning of media is in its essence good, it is not even comparable. Really - how twisted the logic must be to compare the two?

Well, at least I agree that any ban is harmful, but the logic is simple "Double standards". How tired they are. Or saying "This is different."

Comment has been collapsed.

Introducing the bill on criminal articles against media is just a patch you try to sell as "democracy"
I'll agree that this is purely subjective and I have nothing to make you believe me hence why I feel our discussions are useless but Russia is one against many. You are propagating Russian values and how only those are "correct" and how west is corrupt. Trying to divide people and rile up Russians around the world. This misinformation spread by Russian media are causing huge problems outside of Russia that cant be accepted. Easily influenced stupid people start to spread the same misinformation about topics they don't understand.

That's why even though I agree media banning is not good, in cases when people are rather stupid - blocking out lies from one source (Russia in this case) is IMO acceptable action. We still get news from pro-rus media from other countries. We are free to do fact check on everything and label something propaganda if we please. And above all we can easily voice our opinion and not be afraid to be thrown in jail like in Russia. So apart from banning channels from Russia freedom of speech is alive and well in Latvia (and other EU states). I really only have problem with your statement at this. No one is jailing people for voicing opposite opinion.

It is to some extent double standards - yes. But again - two different scopes. We are only blocking media from Russia. We are trying to isolate only you and the lies that are propagated by state owned media channels. On the other hand Russia is trying to isolate citizens from the outside world so they literally could not see different opinions apart from state prepared or Kremlin paid troll farm results. This is North Korea 2.0 for you alright.

As for Belarus - dont make me laugh - puppet government led by pathetic sad excuse of a man licking Putins ass everywhere he goes. As far as Im concerned while lukashenko is dictator there Belarus is nothing more and nothing less then Russias puppet without any voice of its own. I hope the people of the country rise up and realize that they are being fed lies after lies. Just like I hope intelligent Russian citizens will realize people should be united and such war mongering asswipes as Putin and Medvedev should be hung by the balls instead of being listened to.

Is the Russian military planning to create another Chernobyl disaster?
Russia storing weapons in nuclear plant - Ukraine

Russia is using Europe's largest nuclear power plant to store weapons, an official with Kyiv's nuclear agency has said.
The president of the Ukrainian state nuclear agency, Energoatom, said the weapons kept at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant, which include "missile systems", were being used to shell surrounding areas.
Pedro Kotin said the situation there was "extremely tense", with up to 500 Russian troops controlling the plant, Agence France-Presse reports.
"The occupiers bring their machinery there, including missile systems, from which they already shell the other side of the River Dnipro and the territory of Nikopol," he said in a televised interview.
The nuclear plant in southwestern Ukraine was captured by Russian forces in the early weeks of the conflict.

The Russian army is really desperate. If the Russian military causes another nuclear disaster in Ukraine, the Russians will pay the price.

Russia Accidentally Shoots Down Their Own $36M Su-34 Bomber, Ukraine Claims

A $36 million Russian Su-34 bomber was reportedly shot down by Russia's own forces over Ukraine's eastern Luhansk region, Ukrainian media outlets claimed on Monday.
According to the Ukrainian news outlet Glavred, a video of the downed Su-34 aircraft was posted on local Telegram channels, and Russians at first commented believing that a Ukrainian plane had been shot down. The video was then reportedly deleted after it became clear that it was a Russian bomber.
In a separate incident in the Ukrainian city of Alchevsk last month, a video circulating on social media appeared to show the moment a Russian air defense system malfunctioned and the missile appeared to turn back towards the point where it was fired from.

Ukraine: Situation at Europe′s largest nuclear plant ′out of control′| DW | 03.08.2022
https://www.dw.com/en/ukraine-situation-at-europes-largest-nuclear-plant-out-of-control/a-62698157

Experts say that Ukraine's occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant — Europe's biggest — is "extremely vulnerable" to meltdown after the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said all safety measures had been "violated" by Russian forces.

(excerpt)

Adding to these concerns is news that Russian forces are using Zaporizhzhia as a weapons depot and a cover for launching attacks. US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, said that Russia was using the nuclear site as the "equivalent of a human shield" at a UN meeting on nuclear non-proliferation this week.

Using the plant in this way violates the Geneva Convention, which states that particular care must be taken if "installations containing dangerous forces" are located near fighting. Around 500 Russian troops are reported to be currently located at the site.

(excerpt)

It seems it was true that Russia is using nuclear power as a shield after all.

It appears that the Russian government & army needs to get out of nuclear power now.
It seems that they have repeatedly impeded the situation where nuclear power plants can be safely shut down, threatening the survival of the human race on Earth.

Situation with Gazprom and Nord Stream 1 being shutdown and calling force majeure:

Basically lies and lies and lies and lies. Absolutely nothing else coming out of Russia at this point. And most fascinating thing - it was so predictable.
So basically the timeline goes like this. Russia says they can't work without the missing turbine (bullshit but lets roll with it).

They say the pipelines goes into maintenance shutdown and try to force EU to go around sanctions and against UA to deliver the missing turbine:
https://www.reuters.com/business/energy/europe-edge-nord-stream-russian-gas-link-set-planned-shut-down-2022-07-10/

Russians of course say it's regular maintenance, dismisses claims they are falsifying it and go out of their way to try to look friendly if we work with them:
https://www.reuters.com/world/russia-says-it-will-boost-gas-supply-europe-if-canada-returns-turbine-2022-07-08/

West gives in, sends the turbine feeding Putins ego on how West will do anything if threatened:
https://www.reuters.com/business/energy/canada-sent-repaired-turbine-nord-stream-germany-kommersant-2022-07-18/

Russia calls force majeure without any explanation and basically says gas flow will not return:
https://www.reuters.com/business/energy/russias-gazprom-declares-force-majeure-gas-supplies-europe-2022-07-18/

It's just fascinating. I know it's not directly related to Ukraine but it makes me wonder how far can putins propaganda machine reach to try to test wests tolerance. Can they actually make west give in to giving up Ukraine with empty threats and lies? We already know Russia has zero value towards human life, democracy or any value western world has instilled. So how can we, trying to be tolerant and understanding, stand against ruthless dictator who only looks at the world as something to be conquered by force and sees humans only as dispensable meat bags ?

This may be an important story for Russia users.
It would be desirable for the Ukrainian people to have more Russians who know the "truth".
In any case, we can only hope that freedom of expression and freedom of the press will continue.

If you call reporting war crimes made by russia during actual INVASION of a foreign country "propaganda", then sure.

And you don't feel bad for the people murdered in Ukraine due to invasion Russia committed?
Don't you feel bad for the war crimes that have been committed and all of the innocent children and women that have died when hospitals and apartment buildings have been bombarded?
Don't you feel bad for minorities that have been forcibly sent to fight to destination they don't even know and have died?
Don't you feel bad for the poor Russian citizens who where told these are trainings and where sent to kill neighboring country people?
Countless people have died and will continue to die, whole cities have been destroyed, developing countries are on verge of famine and EU is struggling with increasing prices for everything. We are on the verge of huge crises and everything has solely happened because Russia invaded a sovereign country in 21st century. To try to justify this is like spitting on everyone who has suffered from the conflict.

Why do you think this is anti Russian propaganda? You think anything justifies what has been done? You want to say that Mariupol which has been leveled to the ground by Russian aggression is somehow fine and condoning Russia for it is anti-russian propaganda?

Maybe you should remind yourself that you are from Japan and you know nothing of what is going on in UA now. You see two sides sharing opposing information on internet and you probably think you are high and mighty by saying both sides create propaganda?

This has turned into absolute shitshow and attitude like yours is why Russia and dictatorships like putin-run Kremlin can continue on waging stuff like this around the world.

It's disturbing to read someone supporting Russia in this conflict, but it's a lot more sickening to read people stating they are neutral. You literally have no moral compass if there is even a possibility of staying neutral. This is not some local battle between two small countries over some history no one knows about. This is a super pawer (nuclear one at that) invading country right here in Europe.

Well, as you can see, russia's intention bears fruit - people in the other countries are really "unsure" who's wrong in this conflict, instead of unanimously condemning russia, like it should have been.

To an extent I understand these people. Feels like for many it's a question of principle to go against the flow. They have to feel important by having a different opinion. Same as it was with Covid - if majority was for mandates then some group just had to be against them. No arguments whatsoever. Just the principle of being against.

So I have no surprise that some people just on principle think that just because the whole world is against Russia, we are in the wrong solely on that thought. So we have 10 media channels reporting Russia committed a war crime and 1 state controlled Russian media site saying they did not, some people will just use that one as their proof. Or some youtube channel with 10 subscribers - if he is one against many, he is right. No other arguments...

That's why even if I agree banning media in general is not way to go, to really stop this misinformation, banning Russian media that creates known propaganda is a good thing... as I've already discussed with Cement.

And as you can see this person already deleted their comment. Most likely due to any lack of arguments and commenting only to somehow go against the flow and feel different.

It could be a case of "I'm different from the sheep", or a real case of falling for russian misinformation. the info space is really different in different countries.
They have deleted their message, so maybe at least they will question their point of view on this conflict, who knows.

Russia Says It’s Losing Because Ukraine Has Experimental Mutant Troops Created in Secret Biolabs

That claim was made Monday by two Russian lawmakers heading up a commission to investigate “biolaboratories” in Ukraine, Kommersant reported.
Konstantin Kosachev, the deputy speaker of Russia’s Federation Council, and Irina Yarovaya, deputy chair of the State Duma, touted what they described as bombshell findings from the “investigation.”

It's more of a Ukraine secret....
I think they are fighting back because they inadvertently harmed extraterrestrial inhabitants who were operating on Earth.🙄

Of course, as for this "opinion of the Russian government by Russian military officials", it must have really been done.
It may be that angry extraterrestrials are approaching Earth with a fleet of space battleships in retaliation against Russia.
🌌 =͟͟͞͞❏ 🌏
We are the Borg You will be assimilated Resistance is futile

Well, joking aside.
Let me be serious for a moment....
There are many stories of "non-human creatures" participating in the old "wars" between Russia and other countries.
Красный смех — Википедия
In these documents, too, it is mentioned that "troops who should not have been there" appeared.
軍隊狸 - Wikipedia
It's an urban legend called "army raccoon" in the oriental island countries.
I put this "army raccoon" thing through the "translator" and read, "Did he show up again?" Or I think it might be "extraterrestrial inhabitants in the form of raccoon dogs".

Well, all we can say for a fact is that there have been similar stories in the past. 🔫🦝🛸
