I got CS:Source short after launch as a part of payment for a project I did, together with Red Orchestra, HL2 and some other steam games (there weren't many of them back then). I didn't use it much until I got The Orange Box and I got sucked into Team Fortress 2 (it was much more fun those days than today). Soon steam became one of my always-running apps.

For Dota 2, to finally play online, to stop pirating games, and now, to trade :)

I got it because my friends wanted me to play Dota 2 with them. Ended up surprising myself by liking it. (Steam)

Because HL2 and the orange box required it. I rolled my eyes at the thought of another random launcher program, but it turned out to be awesome~

My brother gave me NBA 2k9 on my birthday, and I was forced to activate it on Steam. Then i saw it "Play anything without any CDs", discounts etc. Heaven for all kinds od gamers. Now i don't even imagine playing a game with a CDs. :D

First steam account: CS:CZ
other steam account(s): there was a surge of phishing and lost accounts at the time (way more than there is now) so I created a new account whenever the other one reached a certain value in games owned, now I don't worry due to steamguard and common sense

I created my Steam acc for the Portal Giveaway back in 2010. It was free for a limited time, so I was like: Why not? And now 4 years later, I have 124 games in my account. Not bad :P

I saw somewhere that you could get Portal 1/2 for 66% off. I was like "66% off! What a great deal!" How naive I was (relatively speaking).
