What is your Main Reason(s) to Open Steam Account?

to use my half life 1 key took me a long time before i was convinced digital games was the way to go though, being a former console gamer buying a disc always seemed the right thing to do but with 90% of games having steam or some other drm form the get go ive decided disc are for when theirs no digital copy available or they come with steam/origin/uplay keys :)

was offered a copy of terraria to play with some friends, needed a steam to do it lol

I wasn't into playing games on my PC until the Humble THQ Bundle, I saw all those games thinking I would like to try them out and then I actually started wondering if maybe, maybe my PC would be able to run games. Apparently, it could do so no problem, I bought a few games I wanted to try out for a long time (Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Dark Souls) and had a lot of fun with them but I only started really collecting since Sep 2013, after I discovered the ways of trading! Games are way too cheap now, though my new policy is giving and winning and not buying anything unless I really want it. :)

My reason was activate Half-Life 2/Counter-Strike Source retail.

My bf (now husband) had a Steam account and told me to check it out. I did, liked it, and started buying games. Now it's become a habit...like waiting to open Steam until the daily deal comes out :D And it's so much better than EA...

To play with friends or just to look active

Half-Life 2 was the reason for me.. didn´t use it for anything else for some years. But nowadays "beeing a gamer" should be reason enough to use steam ^^

I've bought one of the first Orange Box packages, mainly for Portal and TF2, but my computer broke down and I simply forgot about them. I found these about four years ago and installed immediately. Later I was simply collecting more games :)
