Yay more games removed, and the count increases from 64 to 68 :) Thanks for all the announcements valve, I really know why and what's happening, thanks for being so informative about stuff

Dev4play games were banned featuring gems like : Frozen Drift Race, Fallen Mage, Manking Defender, War Truck Simulator, TD Ultimate, Battle of the Battlemage, MTB Downhill Simulator and Rover the Dragonslayer.. probably missing some.. it was probably due to fake reviews as you can see in this rather cringe video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mt2r7Ypslwo

I am sorry for any inconvenience but we recently updated the status of some games that have been removed from the Steam community. You are still free to access them in your Library, but they will no longer be included in game counts or in any other parts of the community.

My good friend Ashes contacted valve regarding this and "We recently updated the status of some games that have been removed from the Steam community. You are still free to access them in your Library, but they will no longer be included in game counts or in any other parts of the community.
This game count number also excludes some content in your Library such as add-ons, DLC, and free-to-play games. "
So yeah, i think they will be making an official announcement anytime soon regarding this.

I'm having a HUGE problem. While the whole time people said they only removed some games from the gamecount but those games would remain in your library for you to play whenever you want to I just found out that this is not true. A little adventure game that I even won here on SG called Désire, former Steam store link: http://store.steampowered.com/app/399700/, vanished completely from my account. It's not there anymore. And I wasn't even noticed!

So Steam doesn't handle common character collations properly ? Of course there's things they're half-assing that we didn't notice before!
Explanation mode following because I'm in such a mood today:
For those who didn't study character data & internationalization as part of an education in IT: The short version is that character collations define which characters in a specific subset compare as the same. So accented characters are considered the same as non-accented, combined characters are the same as alternative notation etc.
Most databases, if set up correctly, will index/search character data using normalized forms based on those collations. So searching on "Desire" or "Désiré" would both return the game "Désiré" or they would, if the game hadn't been booted off the store.
Findinf the game when searching on "Dsir" however just shows that accented letters are ignored, and is nonsense.

it's still fun for trying to ding brutal/brütal legends - I have ü on my keyboard but steam doesn't accept it, and brutal gives no result :D But... we're talking about the client that consistently fucks up game names with colons and dashes, and actually taking them into consideration at searching :D

4797 to 4760 and now at 4774?! My count went back up a bit. Did they reverse some of these?

Got 6 games back :P Huh?
This is weird, I don't even know which games were removed and which games are back, and I don't even care... anyway just reporting

The number is slightly annoying, but the bigger issue is how it effects third party sites like SteamGifts.

No games were lost. You can still play them, and see them in your steam library when you launch steam on your computer.
However they do not appear anymore in your "game count", and steamgifts, isthereanydeal, compare2steam, etc... cannot see that you own them.

Just received an email from isthereanydeal with a lot of games added back to my library. Since I saw both Doctor Who games there, I figured it is related to the games non-licensed coming back to life somehow.

Just a moment ago, games that are "banned" or whatever because Valve cuts tie with developers are no longer detected by Steam API. A prime example is that (almost) all Digital Homicide games are no longer detected as owned.
This is not a per-app change, but rather a system-wide change, so if you own some games made by other developers that are "banned" then Steam API will also no longer detect them. Not sure if this is intentional and why Valve would do this, but surely this will change a lot of things.
What this could mean in SG:
I don't have a complete list of what games are affected, since there are too many. This means if SGTools wants to update their whitelist it can be a non-trivial process.
Also, your profile's game count may have changed, depending on how many such games you have in your account.
For example, I own Barbie and Her Sisters Puppy Rescue (appid: 396390, you won't be able to see that I own this game unless I am on your friends list on Steam and you go to the Friends that Play page of this game), and if you check with Steam API you won't be able to find 396390 as my owned appid.
