Why? Italy was only trying to break the play of Germany instead of creating opportunities themselves. They simply waited for the penalty shootout to begin. That was what happened.

Pellè missed some shot on goals which would've been a goal 9 out of 10 times... making your statement completely not true. Italy attacked and didn't capitalize , germany did and it still didn't let them win the match... they went to the penalty shootout which is completely all around luck + player's pressure ....

If Germany had not taken initiative they wouldn't have made their goal. Italy was only in the business of shooting on goal out of opportunistic chances, which made the game dreadful to look at. I don't really remember any of the chances Italy created, which could mean something, but since I can't back that up I won't go into it any further. If the stupid hands foul hadn't happened (and yes, I'm blaming Germany for this) I don't think they would've gotten beyond 90 minutes. And if Germany had a different goalkeeper they would've probably lost the shootout. Those are my complete thoughts

It's a tactic ofc , it's not like italy didn't make plays on their own because they weren't capable,but because they might have analyzed germany's play and saw that when they went up towards the opponent's goal the opponent would've capitalized more easily... but yeah , i mean italy had the most difficult matches to play in the whole euro tournament.... vs belgium , spain and germany... meanwhile all the other 3 got lucky and managed to get an easy group + easy quarter finals.

Yes, it's a tactic. I just think that tactic is destroying everything that's interesting about football. But I only think it means that Italy thought it was the best chance to win. And indeed, Germany has had a much easier run up to the semis, but I still think they were the better team.

After having played against belgium and spain you'd think they couldn't do turnovers and making their best players rest for an extra match , advantage that germany did have since they got the easy part , so italy HAD to use that tactic since they had to play vs france too IF THEY WOULD'VE WON.... overall this euro was one-sided for italy, and will end one-sidedly... just goes to show you how the quarter-final match was the real final and viceversa,the final will 100% suck. I'm positive about that.
