https://store.steampowered.com/app/412020/Metro_Exodus/

If you want it on Steam, today is the last day you'll be able to pre-order it there.
EDIT: Apparently it will return to Steam on Feb 14 2020 for those that are fine with waiting a year instead of pre-ordering.
EDIT2: Physical copies of the game will come with a Steam key.
EDIT3: Correction, it looks like retail keys will activate on the Epic store.
EDIT4: The game is now no longer available for pre-order on Steam.

4A Games was informed about the switch to Epic by Deep Silver sometime "well after E3 2018" which is intentionally vague, but still interesting considering some other point of reference was not mentioned instead (e.g. Gamescon or the Games Awards, when Epic announced the first batch of exclusives).

It was after E3 2018 when 4A Games was informed about the Epic Games Store exclusivity. Metro Exodus was still a game for Steam in terms of development before that time of period. “Well after that(E3 2018), that’s all I can say”, my source confirmed.

Ok, the currently pre-order price (for me) is 64.99 USD, higher than Steam price.

Metro author asks fans not to “betray us” over Exodus’ Epic Games store release.

Surely him coming out like that can only do more harm than good? What a mess this whole thing has become.

Glukhovsky finishes by saying “again, we’re all very sorry that you’re hurt,” and asks players not to “betray” the developers, “just as we will always stay faithful to you.”

lmao now he tries to spin the blame to players.

Oh, I will not betray him...I'm gonna get the game sooner or later.
Probably later though since I have no need to play it right away.

Now released on steam. Now the question is: Why to buy an "old" game when I can buy a new one? I wanted to buy it in 2019, but way too many good games coming soon, in 2020... For my gaming taste, 2020 is the best year ever with upcoming games.

thats actually a good point. You are most hyped about a game in the beginnign since we didnt want to buy it on epic though we had to wait and now the hype has died down and i also wouldnt say that i want to buy it xD

I've played it on 1$ Xbox beta subscription. On one hand, there are many great and newer titles around and Metro has been taken down in highly controversial circumstances. On the other hand, the game is great so I would advise to wait until it goes on deeper discount and then buy it.

i don't mind if it's an "old game", the thing i hated was the publisher/devs idiocy of putting the game as epic exclusive and screwing steam users (you know, the ones that made metro 2033 and last light possible... but who cares).

anyway, i played it on release and it's amazing. i'll grab it on steam later when the price drops and replay it.💃

I've been waiting a year for it now. 40% off is not bad. But it's been cheaper on Epic, and 40€ for the full game isn't exactly cheap. I guess my back catalogue and crippling addiction to Destiny 2 can hold me out longer. I don't even feel like I've missed out.
