If you cancel you lose the Classic plan. I suppose they want people to switch over to the more expensive plan. So, initially, it will be less expensive then, whenever you pause or the 6 months expire, you'll be on the Premium plan at a premium price. Thus, theoretically, this move will bring them more profit in the long run.
Plus, we don't even know if the next months are even worth getting.
I prefer keeping the Classic plan paused until I see something I really want even if I have to pay $12 for it.
50% off from the normal Classic would be a great deal but not if you have to cancel it beforehand and switch over to Premium.

Good looking out! I paused it for December, because I had only wanted Children of Morta and a buddy gave me Struggling. But since it was cheap, I cancelled the subscription (something that has to be done in order to participate in this promotion. Pausing will not work) and joined up for this, and was still able to grab everything this month. Thanks for the info!

I've not really followed humble monthly too much and I've never subscribed, and I know this is an incredibly subjective question, but do you guys think 6 months for $36 would beat out hand picking AAA titles for that price; for example, on epic with their sales and coupons that price could get me my top 3 wishlisted games, Borderlands 3, Star Wars: Squadrons, and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. And yes, like most I have a triple digit backlog....

How good a promo this deal is depends on the individual - for me, I almost never have a game I really want so I don't have a reason to pay for games at full price - bundles from HB are perfect in this sense because there is always at least 1 game or another I'd try even if just for a few hours and can move on guilt free.
As you described for your case, it's likely better to go with epic since you do have games you are interested in, so there is no reason to add to your backlog with this promo when we won't know what will come out for the next 5 months. Ofc, you might want to consider this promo if you liked this past year's HB choice selection.

Bearing in mind that there's a fair bit of subjectivity and a side of gambling here, I think it might be worth it. Almost every month so far has one game I personally would buy if I did not already own it. At $12, it's still a bit much but $6? That's really tempting. If you're okay with trading for/with the other games then nothing goes to waste. The amount of games you would get for $6 is hard to pass up if the prior months have had things you were mildly interested in and a great marquee title to keep or trade.
On the flip side, you could spend $36 and get exactly what you want right now. How badly do you want those games, how long have they been on your wishlist and how likely are you to play them relatively soon are all things to take into consideration. Hope that helps. I wish I could take advantage of this but apparently I'm not eligible even though I received the email. >.<

Good points. To be prudent, I'm assuming that with everyone jumping on this deal the trade/sell value of monthly games will be much lower. But you're right it's still a little bit of an insurance policy.

The $6/month plan is now appearing as a banner on the Choice page, even without having a coupon.
I see comments that if you subscribe to this plan, you are unable to pause. Is that certain? I can not find anything definitive. Naturally, under normal circumstances if you were just buying a single month at a time, it wouldn't be possible because you're just making a new monthly purchase each time. But this appears to be a locked-in six month plan so I'm not sure if it may operate differently.
I've never been subscribed before except for a free month they once gave me, so I'm unfamiliar with how it all works. I'm debating if I want to get the six month plan or go for the $99 annual plan (fully expecting to pause repeatedly...so who knows how long it will actually last).

I'm not 100% sure. It might be that the $99 credits will be used first, and then it will be renewed at $6 per month.
But it doesn't hurt to hold on to the gift until 6 months have passed if you want to be sure.

so just an FYI. The email I received specifically said classic plan. My subscription was paused so I I unpaused and it said my next bill will be December 25 for 6$. it looks like it applied it automatically. I didn't have to cancel my classic plan to get the deal.

Hi, I have a month-to-month Premium (not Classic) sub at 9$, but I'd like to use this "6 months at 6$" coupon. I read all the messages but I got a bit confused about how to proceed:
- Is the coupon for new users only or for existing users too? I received no emails and I don't see the coupon in my account.

I activated the 6$ promo and I can confirm pretty much everything you said:
- The "12 month-to-month at 9$" coupon I saw in my account was not a different coupon, it was just the coupon I used to activate my old sub (showing the expiration date of that promo), so it was removed when I canceled the sub. Now I see the new active 6$ coupon in my account.
- I needed to cancel the current sub in order to apply the new coupon. It didn't work with the suspended sub.
- All the other coupons are still there.
Also, I already bought the December Choice and it seems that the 6$ coupon has been applied for the January Choice: the next billing date is set to February 26th.

I am a bit unsure, if I should get this too, since I already have Xbox PC Game Pass which already floods me with high quality wishlist games.
I am so happy with that MS game pass - first time, that I am happy with something from Microsoft.

November was one of the best yes tsioque and little misfortune are amazing games along with the big aaa darksiders 3 and kiwami 2. From December i find beast inside struggling and the 2 frog detective games pretty good. Overcooked 2 and children of morta seems nice but not for my taste.

Classic subscribers always take 10 games from the 12 each bundle offers. We are in the premium sub. So we can choose 9 games from the 12 each month. There are months that they give all games to classic and premium like the past months. You will take for sure 9 games/month and maybe more if they choose too.
