I just subbed for 6 months, the deal is too good to pass imho. You shouldn't pause while using this coupon though.

Ouch, you can't get the discount if you buy it as a gift. You'll still get a discount for $99 per year though, which is a good deal price-wise, but i think i'll pass for now. The yearly fee is too expensive for me.

I'd really like to redeem this offer, I've been following this thread for a few days and seeing not only mixed results but varying methods as to how to redeem this coupon. I have the email with the offer and I am currently a Classic plan subscriber though I am paused for December.

So far I've done the following:

  1. Clicked the green "Save now" button in the enclosed email
  2. I'm taken to a screen offering $19.99 per month for HB Premium and saying "As an active subscriber you cannot currently purchase a different subscription plan"
  3. There is no coupon in my inventory
  4. I've checked my plan to see if the coupon auto applied and I'm still told I will be billed $12 for this month,
  5. I've unpaused and reloaded both the purchase screen and the coupon inventory, nothing changes.

Have I missed anything?

Really annoyed they tempted me with an email for a promotion I can't use. It goes without saying that canceling a lifetime classic plan for 6 months of $6 is a bad idea.

Just an update on this, I contacted support as suggested and they were able to apply the coupon to my account. I only just received a response today given the Holiday break. I'm guessing it might be too late to contact them at this point if people haven't already done so.

They actually responded to my support ticket (which I said I would send in a previous comment) and "made some changes to my account" and I actually got the coupon and the deal. Honestly, I wasn't expecting this, but can't say I'm not glad.

I'm still unsure on how to redeem this offer. The promotional email said i had til Jan 1. Now the support says i got till mid January. And it doesn't specify if i have to subscribe with the coupon every month, or if it will be just a one time payment for the 6 upcoming months.

You need to subscribe with the coupon every month. At first, the coupon says it's valid until january. But, after using it, it says it's valid until june. So it will work for each payment you make until the six months run out.

I've seen someone mention on steamtrades that if you intend to swap/give away keys from humble then you should un-link your steam account from them? Just incase they notice it's not your account that's redeeming the keys. Any info on this? I really bought this to trade/gift most of the games so don't want to end up banned or blocked.

I am not sure unlinking changes anything. If you use what they consider to be "many" gift links, you're considered a trader, regardless of whether you actually trade, have a lot of friends or make GAs here or elsewhere so it won't help.
If you were in the EU, and you got your account blocked you could just tell them that European consumer laws protect you from that kind of BS illegal and abusive terms of services, even if you do trade, but I see you're in Great Britain so I guess it doesn't protect you anymore, sorry about that.

You can always unlink but don't be 100% certain it will help.

Yeah sure they prefer people buying whole bundles of rebundled games and DLC to get the two games they want rather than pass and get them from trading but maybe if they had better bundles, people would buy the bundles instead...

This is probably happening because they don't have a certain incoming to offer to developers. They are failing to mantain the interest of old subscribers and they failed to captivate new subscribers. I suspect this all started with the "classic" and "premium" bullshit with higher prices for non-subscribers and their several offers focused to new subscribers, but none to old subscribers. Funny how they tried so hard to captivate new subscribers, then tried to captivate them to become a "classic" again, then turned "premium" into a "classic" and ended up failing to get/keep both in the end.

That's my thinking as well. And worse, they can't even count on a stable number of subscribers because people pause a lot (I paused 7 times in 12 months) so the promise of Choice didn't materialize and they're back to square one with the devs.

I think their next step is to cancel the Pause system altogether. I know that'll be the end of the sub for me but maybe people won't mind if it's cheaper? Maybe this discount is a live test more than a discount.

Yep, you can cancel anytime, you just can't use the $6 per month for any of the remaining months, will have to pay the regular price if month #5 in your example interests you.

Use this $6 coupon and go month to month for 6 months. If you plan to keep the subscription going after 6 months then buy an annual premium but send it to yourself as a gift. Only redeem it after your 6 months month to month is over (and you're reverted back to paying 19.99/month)

At first, when I clicked the OP link, it sent me to a $6 for 6 months page -- and then when I clicked again after accidentally closing that tab (and only a few minutes later), it sent me to a $19.99 per month page. Unable to get the $6 for 6 months page to show up again. Puzzled. (Also, sometimes the banner for the deal displays on the Humble Bundle front page, and other times it doesn't.)

Ok, I'm on Classic sub, never got a coupon, as I never paused the December bundle, but haven't unlocked it yet too. I contacted support asking "Can I get this deal while Classic plan, or do I have to cancel my Classic subscription first?". And got a reply: "Hello again! Sorry for the trouble applying that Choice promotion to your order. However, I've gone ahead and made a few changes to your account which should allow you to purchase December's Choice with that discount applied without issue. Let me know if I can be of assistance with anything else at all and I'm happy to help. Otherwise, I hope that you have a great rest of your day, stay safe!". And I got the coupon in my coupon tab, unlocked December Choice for $6, and got another one "Valid until Jun 4, 2021, 10:00:00 AM". So yes, if you have problems with this deal, just contact support. They should solve it for you.

I received the same reply. I have the coupon in my account now, but it mentions a billing error which makes it so that it won't purchase the December bundle: "We've encountered an error with your payment method. Please add or update your payment information to reactivate your membership."

I even added in a credit card directly, but no change.

Customer support hasn't been helpful for me. While I couldn't use coupon, the weird thing was my membership plan showed I'd be charged $6 on xmas day and the "unlock my choices" was also $6 with the promotion. So I'm like lets see what happens. Well, I was charged the $19.95 amount and now all they've offered is to refund the amount saying I should have used the coupon that I couldn't use. I'll see after the refund if I can get the coupon after cancelling the membership. lol.

UPDATE: After getting refunded, I cancelled and was able to renew at the $6/month rate. Woo hoo!

I opened a ticket on the 23rd, got the answer about an hour ago and the reply was "this is a promotion for new users or users on the Premium Plan. Since you are a Classic Plan subscriber, that promotion is not available for your account", AFTER being made to wait because they "needed (me) to verify that (I) was the account owner". However, I replied back that I got the email saying I was supposed to have a coupon and that I knew others had no problems despite being Classic subs, which made the person answering tell me that he would "escalate it further to an agent".

I mean, I know that the guy was probably on autopilot and following protocol, but it feels like a joke and time is running out. I hope I get the issue solved like others :\

UPDATE: I got answered by Kasey, the one who seems to be in charge of this (going by these comments), got the coupon and then everything was fine afterwards.

There is a possibility they can still "award" you the promotion after the date - it's something support has in their system, as seen by other replies where they manually added the promotion to user accounts - and successful cases even get a 2nd coupon for the same deal that expires in June/July.

Good luck with it, hope you get someone who does something in your next reply. I'm a classic sub and got this deal without a problem, so either the person was ignorant or simply didnt want to do things (purposefully being dense and not admitting there was a deal for classic subs)

I was in fact lucky, and didn't get cheated out of the offer. I can't say whether this deal was a slip up that was never meant to be given to Classic members, or if they just didn't apply the offer properly. I'm more inclined to think it's the first, but no real point in dwelling on that.

Regarding the first person answering, I assume they were someone without any decision capacity who just did as he was told to, which might work for simpler problems or when the client accepts bullshit as an answer, but neither was the case here.
