https://news.yahoo.com/russias-putin-thanks-those-wagner-193017948.html

he had deliberately let Saturday's 24-hour mutiny by the Wagner militia go on as long as it did to avoid bloodshed, and that it had reinforced national unity.

That little pig eyed piece of shit. He will turn everything around and feed it to population trying to make himself seem in control.

"From the very beginning of the events, steps were taken on my direct instruction to avoid serious bloodshed," Putin said.

Hope his regime crumbles with him being beheaded.

Let's not forget that our way is a civilized way.

Yes, agreed. Unfortunately my worries are with the fact that no one would actually hand putin over to tribunal.

For that to happen Russia would have to have the whole current system to crumble and someone taking it over or complete opposition taking over current system. Both scenarios unlikely in my opinion. Even if new dictator would take over and pull out of Ukraine, he wouldn't give out someone like putin who has been a cult person for russians. Kremlin is rotten to the core with putins and communism philosophies and I would think it impossible for them to outright say - sure, our "president" is bloodthirsty terrorist, take him to court. They would play into the image of him being the all knowing perfect leader who was led into the war by incompetent staff .... Shoigu and Co who would take the blame and would be sent to tribunal instead.

Changing Shoigu would mean giving in to Prigos mutiny demands. And with the absolutely mindboggling mental gymnastics kremlin went through to try to save face in wake of the mutiny itself, it wouldn't be surprising they would think they have to continue the act that everything putin does is perfect and thought out. Changing the guy would signal that Prigo was correct and that is a way to get something accomplished in Russia. Either way, I am not complaining they are going down this road. It means having someone incompetent still at the wheel + Prigo doesnt get what he wanted, which would mean another revolt if gets free.

🤬 Russian war crimes continue
4 killed, including a child, after Russian missile strikes center of Kramatorsk, Ukrainian authorities say
A restaurant and a commercial area were hit. 4 people killed, dozens injured and some could be trapped under the rubble.

A video shows the first minutes after the attack, at the end you can see an injured baby: https://twitter.com/Gerashchenko_en/status/1673794016528285697

Viktor Vatnik Orban defending Putler
[Twitter] - Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said in an interview with the German newspaper Bild that he does not consider Russian President Vladimir Putin a war criminal and thinks that Ukraine can no longer be considered a sovereign state.
I wonder who, or rather what inspired Mr. Orban to draw such conclusions?
Perhaps the record gas discounts that Russia is now offering its allies?
Your ideas?

  • Putin the weak shows his determination

This kind of cynical clownery can only happen in this Russia.
  • Justice in Russia

Ukrainian forces are "highly likely" to have recaptured land in the country's eastern Donbas region occupied by Russia since 2014, the UK says.
On Saturday, a Ukrainian commander said land had been retaken near the Russian-occupied village of Krasnohorivka.

Just yesterday Putin did an oopsie, and a very important one. For the first time ever since the Wagner group has been established (back in 2013-2014), he openly admitted what everyone else knew already (but had no decisive evidence) - the entire Wagner group has been funded solely by Russian government - June 27th, 2023.

How the narrative kept changing: Russian government about the Wagner PMC: from "no relation to these individuals" to "funded solely by state".

🤬 UPDATE: Three teens among 11 killed in Kramatorsk attack

Three teenagers were among 11 people killed in the Ukrainian city of Kramatorsk after a Russian missile hit a popular restaurant on Tuesday night.
Included in the dead were 14-year-old twin sisters Yuliya and Anna Aksenchenko and a 17-year-old girl.
At least 57 others were injured, including Colombian nationals and a leading Ukrainian writer.

❗ It seems that a piece of shit informed the Russians that there was a crowded restaurant to attack
Security Service of Ukraine arrests person who tipped Russians off regarding attack on Kramatorsk

The Russian agent made a hidden video recording of the cafe and the cars parked nearby to fulfil the task. After that, the defendant sent the video file to Russian military intelligence.

🤮 The disgusting reaction of rashists after a Ukrainian baby was injured in Kramatorsk
[Twitter] - These are comments from a Russian Telegram group on the news that a baby was injured during Russian missile strike on Kramatorsk:
"Guys, fucking kill the Ukrainian cattle, yes, this is open fascism and I'm undoubtedly happy about that!"
"Well, some Ukrainians got killed, I don't give a shit. Everyone dies there all the time."
"They say a one year old child died there, as well? Question - will he sing a song about Bandera in hell?"
"Normal parents wouldn't take their kids to a Ukrainian daycare. There's no one to be sorry for there."
"The baby is all right already. It'll get better eventually."
"I don't fucking care about that Nazi child. These bastards don't deserve sorrow. How many Russian children did Ukrainian bastards kill. Their offspring and the Anglo-Saxon offspring are biowaste, just like their lice parents."
"It's right to start with children. They need to bomb a daycare, too."
It seemed important to me to translate this and show you who we're dealing with.
These creatures just want to kill all Ukrainians. Starting with children.

  • [Twitter] - "Part of a Russian Airborne Forces (VDV) company near Klishchiivka surrendered half an hour ago. There are still some who have communication issues and don't know about it, so they will soon be informed and told to surrender or die," two Ukrainian soldiers on the ground report.

Russian forces begin to flee Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant – Ukrainian Defence Intelligence

The Russian invaders have begun to gradually leave the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), and some ZNPP employees have also been instructed to leave the plant by 5 July, the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU) reports. [...]
The DIU also emphasises that the number of military patrols at the ZNPP and in the satellite city of Enerhodar is gradually decreasing.
Meanwhile, intelligence reports that the Russian occupiers have instructed the personnel who remain at the station to "blame Ukraine in the event of any emergency".

I think it's some kind of Russian bluff, because it seems really stupid to ask the guys you left behind with a nuclear disaster to blame someone else.
Putler won't risk a nuclear disaster. Nuclear clouds have no borders, they could move towards NATO countries, which could wake up all NATO armies. Nuclear clouds could also reach Russia, which would not improve Putler's popularity.

I suddenly realized that I had said this concern when I checked.
My guess is that, at this stage, it would not be that difficult to create a mastodon or bluesky account separate from your twitter account, although it would be somewhat tricky.
(That is, if the official site is notified and handled with courtesy. ......) .
However, people will be fooled by the appearance of fake sites and notices that they will not continue to use Twitter.
Individuals and organizations that use Twitter as a substitute for their official website will be severely affected.
Here, it seems that those who did not have an account at the time of the flood could not view those emergency tweets. (It is absurd to suddenly not be able to view emergency information and have to get an account on a stranger's device to view it while out and about. Running out of time can be fatal.)

I hope Twitter Inc. doesn't start a lawsuit battle against similar services to see what happens, or somehow make similar services other than Twitter Inc. look bad. ......
In the past, Twitter has violated the law by linking to Mastodon. It is natural to be concerned about similar activities, and in this day and age it is not a good idea to suddenly shut down a service without prior notice.
🤔It is a little disappointing to think that people had six months to prepare for the nightmare.

  • View (single) tweets without account login (Replaces links to tweets (e.g. in this thread) with links to a "Twitter Embed" (single tweet without replies). Only use this if you can't or don't want to log in at Twitter. Viewing the replies still requires to log in.)
  • Large Twitter images (Replaces links to small images (e.g. in this thread) with links to large images.)

  • Prigozhin's silence
[Twitter] - Prigozhin has completely disappeared from the picture. His once very popular audio messages are no more. His "press service" has been silent for days. It really is quite a scene.
But the aftertaste for Russians is not pleasant. Officials are going out of their way to minimise the impact of the mutiny. Prigozhin was allowing the pressure of the enormous Russian losses and incompetency to release. Now there's no such valve, and there's no one of weight and importance to replace him.

The disconnection of the 750 kV power line meant the ZNPP had to switch to its only available 330 kV back-up power line for off-site electricity that is required, for example, to pump cooling water for the plant. This 330 kV line was only reconnected to the plant on 1 July after being damaged four months ago.

At the Zaporizhzhia NPP, another Russian false flag operation in preparation
[Twitter] - StratCom of the Armed Forces of Ukraine:
"Armed Forces of Ukraine officially report about a possible preparation in the near future of a provocation on the territory of Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant which has been occupied by Russian terrorists since 4th March, 2022.
According to operational information, today, on the external roof of the third and fourth energy blocks of ZNPP, extraneous objects were placed that resemble explosive devices. Their explosion shouldn't damage the energy blocks but might create an image of shelling from the Ukrainian side. This is what Russian media and Telegram channels misinform about.
Armed Forces of Ukraine do not break the norms of international humanitarian law, monitor and control the situation and are ready to act under any conditions.
No enemy provocations will not work out"

Neither the US, Ukraine, nor Russia are parties to the Oslo Treaty.

Personally, I don't favor landmines or cluster bombs.
In an island nation, it is strategically significant to place lots of mines in the sea and on the coastline.
However, disposal always comes up as an issue, with WW2 unexploded ordnance being found in the hundreds recently, and only a few places where there is always smoke coming out of areas where there are too many unexploded ordnance to process.
(Japan stopped using them during the Zeroland Mine Campaign. But the need still needs to be examined.)

As a practical matter, even at the time of the dam break, unexploded cluster bombs and washed away mines are still spreading downstream, and even if the war were to end just now, it would take years, in the order of 10 years, to conduct a landmine survey until there is a guarantee that a large area can be reliably and safely inhabited.
Conversely, if a place has been "made into such a place," there is no longer any reason not to use it.

If anything, it would be a precautionary possession to prevent the Russian government from sacrificing untrained Russian soldiers by "having it" and expecting to run out of ammunition, a method that would force the Russian government to win.

The cluster bombs provided by the U.S. have a dud rate of less than 2%, not the antique Soviet-made 5% to 40% dud rate, and Ukraine has had a number of cluster bomb attacks on urban areas, but has condemned them internationally, so they will not be directed at Russian citizens.
(Except for the soldiers at the beck and call of the Russian government)

🤔 It would be least unfortunate for the Russian government to end this quickly before it is used on the battlefield.

Yeah I know Ukraine has not signed the treaty. I don't know their reasons, probably Russian threat I guess (which would also explain why Poland never signed it either). Still, even after the dam catastrophe it would just be adding fuel to a fire. 10 years is an optimistic prospect for a survey, we had some in Europe after WW2 and... they're still going on. I read earlier that unexploded bombs from WW1-2 could still be a threat in 500 years.

Anyway I'm no military expert so I don't know what kind of tactical advantage those munitions would offer compared to less threatening stuff, but it's kinda concerning the Ukrainian government would risk the safety of its future generations for a slight edge in the conflict :/

(I didn't understand that sentence, "If anything, it would be a precautionary possession to prevent the Russian government from sacrificing untrained Russian soldiers by "having it" and expecting to run out of ammunition, a method that would force the Russian government to win.", something might have been lost in translation?)

Those areas in eastern Ukraine would be full of "unexploded ordnance".
It is not difficult to guess from the past history of unexploded bombs and landmines in various countries that even after the war is over, they will not be able to return for a long period of time.
Well, it is hoped that it will only be "just get it and don't use it".

(I didn't understand that sentenc

🤔The Russian government continues to send the socially vulnerable, the sick and prisoners to the front lines in order to make the West run out of ammunition.
Ukraine consumes very high amounts of conventional ammunition because it does not use weapons of mass destruction such as "vaporized bombs" and "white phosphorus bombs".
Therefore, the Russian government has been sending more and more of its own citizens, who are socially vulnerable, to the front lines based on the theory that they can win if Ukraine runs out of ammunition.
However, if cluster bombs are supplied to Ukraine and the Russian government decides that it is futile to expect to run out of ammunition, the number of Russian citizens who will be forced to be sent to the front lines as a result will only increase congestion and rescue efforts and will be meaningless, so mobilization will be limited to those who were soldiers in the old days as a defensive force in various sectors of Russia.
In any case, the Russian government's approach even looks like a preparation to sell Russia to ...

A video shows mobiks refusing their deployment. They have not received any payment since January and they've been in combat for 10 months with no leave. Some excerpts:

"No artillery support, nothing. No provisions, no water, nothing."
"Today, on July 6, they want to forcefully deploy us again in Novodarivka. So we will refuse."
"In the company, we had 106 people, only 40 remain."
"We also have to fight for our own money. All we've got left is to buy our own ammo."
"All the items that were given to us by the army were destroyed by bombs. We have two shovels left for the whole company that's nothing."
"We even blew up on our own mines."

[Video on Twitter] - Mobiks of the Russian regime have lost over 50% of their company resisting the offensive in Novodarivka, west of Rivnopil, both recently liberated by the Ukrainian defence forces. Now they are trying to send them to Kleshcheyevka again to hold their positions. Russia is risking troops "degradation" amid the war in Ukraine due to a lack of "combat-ready" reservists, according to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
A report published on Thursday by the U.S.-based think tank cited pro-Russian military bloggers who said that Russia's army was lacking defensive capabilities in southern Ukraine due to an inability to "rotate" troops in and out of combat. ISW suggested that the shortcoming would impact Moscow's ability to defend against the ongoing Ukrainian counteroffensive.
Oleksiy Danilov, secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, said in a tweet earlier this week that the Ukrainian counteroffensive—focused on Russian-occupied regions in southern and eastern Ukraine—had "been particularly fruitful" in recent days, maintaining that progress was being made "calmly, wisely, step by step."
The ISW report suggests that it may become more difficult for Moscow to halt the counteroffensive the longer it continues.
