Monthly subscription is the worst thing that you can have when you don't have too much time to play. Even though I don't really play online I would rather see a subscription scheme where you buy a limited playtime rather a month. So $15 for 700 hours of playing. Or something in these lines. It's bullshit to pay $15/month for a game that you play like 1-2 hours/week.

maybe a mmo isn't the best option if you can only play 1-2 hours a week. Although if you think about it a movie costs around 15 dollars and gives you 1.5, maybe 2 hours of entertainment and that's not including the popcorn, drink, whatever else you buy. 15/month even at 1 hour per week is 3.75 so still cheaper then most forms of entertainment

What the heck was the race? Did they lock one of the common ones for the non-deluxe versions or actually add one of the long awaited creatures from the lands far to the east?

Imperials weren't a choosable race until now. Always struck me as odd that every Imperial just happened to be in Cyrodiil when it fell and none were emigrating or even on holiday.

Yeah! I hate f2p and cheap MMOs. I am serious. The more expensive the MMO is, the less kids and stupid whiners you'll have to deal with, since they usually have no money. Good news!

I'll wait until after the open beta before I make any judgements on this one. So far I didnt get a single invite to any of the betas so I dont know how the game play feels aside from watching the gameplay videos. Combat looks terrible though.

As long as players keep buying new games/MMOs, subscribe for half a year (of which they play only 2 months average) and keep purchasing form the Ca$h Grab $hop, developers will keep pulling this off. I rather wait till ESO becomes B2P/F2P in about a year from release and then I'll play it. Because honestly, it's the same shitty mechanics as most MMOs use with just an updated skin and a HUGE IP to back it up - we all know what happened to SWTOR....

No, I won't buy it at this price, or any price. I don't enjoy MMOs.
But why does it have a monthly and a purchase price? Because it's a huge IP that's extremely popular and the game cost a great deal of money to make. They want to recoup their costs as early as possible.

This is the same as WoW.... FK... I just wanted to buy Warcraft III and I mistakenly bought WoW... Then I said "Oh, alright, I will just play this game", and then I found out I had to pay for each month... Guess what? Never used the free month code in my line and I still have it there so I remember that painful time...

I've known about the prices for a while, I'm still interested in the game but I'm thinking about waiting it out for a while to see how the game goes. I'll have to make some more money so I can secure the purchase. I am definitely not getting it on consoles if it requires XBL Gold/PS+ to keep playing though.

I have a bad feeling that the game will be one of the many that failed (more or less...like Warhammer Online or SWTOR). Not completely, sure they made enough money but considering their brand name it was a flop. They should probably have made The Elder Scrolls VI, it would have been much more popular and overall a better game I feel. Hope I'm wrong though.

You know, a different company making an MMO doesn't stop Bethesda from making Elder Scrolls VI a singleplayer game. They aren't mutually exclusive.
Comment has been collapsed.
That is true but I find it very unlikely. Even though I base this only on one certain game that became MMO and didn't get a singleplayer follow up till now. Also they would have to set in before the events of ESO.
I've read somewhere that players will be able to become emperors. Anyone knows what happened to the "All emperors are/were dragonborn cause otherwise DOOM!" bit?

Bethesda is pretty stupid, but they're not that stupid. Don't worry, TES VI will come. But err... why would it have to be set before ESO? It takes place a thousand years before Skyrim. If they'd made it after Skyrim, then there'd be a problem. A thousand years is plenty of time for specific details to be forgotten, meaning player action can be twisted into Canon that way. Also, the Emperor part is answered by the plot and, as you said, is the cause of all this stuff going down and, my own personal theory, a Dragon Break is happening as well because of what's happened. Canonically, as the only faction attempting to restore the Second Empire, the Daggerfall Covenant is going to win this war, one way or another, unless the Ebonheart Pact changes its motivations along the way. Alternatively (my late Second Era knowledge is a little fuzzy), the Ebonheart Pact, as the ones fighting for independence from the Empire, will win and clear the way for an non-united land for Tiber Septim to conquer a few centuries from now. Either way, if a Dragon Break is happening, all factions can win at the same time and it'd still make perfect sense in the end.

it will have monthly fee and micro transactions and the 60$ not worth it because they give only 30 subscription which is VERY high when the monthly fee is 13 euros they should add at least 2-3 months subscription for their price.
Conclusion not going to buy it till is f2p at least.

In my opinions MMOs should never have a purchase fee and never cost more than $10 a month. $180 a year in subscription alone is ridiculous, especially when they include micro-transactions. It's not surprising that so many $15 a month MMOs fail

$80-90 depending on where u get it, here in Oz... They can shove it where the sun don't shine. I'll go back to playing Skyrim.

Oh I am not shocked at the price. Standard MMO stuff. Welcome to MMO prices before the Free2Play model showed up. Personally if the game is good enough I do not mind spending that much to play it. When it comes to MMOs that is. You got to keep in mind keeping the servers going as well as a staff to keep an eye on the servers, as well as people being pad to do patches and add new things to the game.. well, they have a fairly big expense.
Its either this or a sort of free2play model ( and almost every one I have seen are pay2win, IE crap you should stay the hell away from. )
As for me I am probably going to end up playing the new Everquest game.. Still bummed out that I could not afford to get into the mapping thing.

..UUUCK!
This looks like just about the only MMO I was interested in why do they have to be so friggin greedy?
MMOs should either have a one time purchase fee like guild wars, or have a subscription base fee, why both?
Will you buy it at this price? I don't think I will simply because this WoW payment module is pissing me off.
Anyone played the beta? Does it actually resemble skyrim and such gameplay wise?
source
They'll try to milk you with microtransactions too - source
TL;DR - Elder Scrolls Online will cost $60 to buy, plus $15 every month and will have microtransactions aswell.
Plus this whole 'Imperial edition' day one race DLC bullcrap, guh!
