I was partially interested for the longest time, then I got into the mass test beta, now I'm entirely uninterested. Things weren't what I expected, bluntly said, and I'd rather have another singleplayer game.
As I play games rather seldom (say, whenever I have free time), I don't see me putting enough hours into the game to warrant the $15 fee. I've never played WoW or anything else subscription-based either (though, more tempting back in the day, after school etc.), now it's just $15 for maybe 5 hours I'd play ESO per month... next to other games I still want to play. Money to pay the fee itself isn't the issue - but seeing as it took me half a month to finish the 10 hours or so I put into BioShock Infinite, I'd rather not invest in ESO.

When ESO releases... all here will buy it, that's for sure :)
When you avoid the idea that you don't want it. You will create a stronger desire for the product the next time you see it! :P

Hmm that's true, sometimes the public opinion beats the publicity. Lets see what happens mate when the release day comes :D
Anyways i never tried by myself, but games like this have lot of popularity. Its odd that it would have bad sells, but if the game is bad as people tell. Its a good reason for make it happen, the bad thing was the month payment, almost every game model that works and success well, is now a f2p.

I just have one link to post...
Thread about the subscription model for ESO about 5 months ago
But yeah...this was old news. :/ Still not happy about it though...gave away my beta key to my friend as soon as I got it because there's no way I'm buying it now. I'm as broke as Infestation: Survivor Stories was during launch from what I've heard about it.

why P2P?? why not B2P?? like with Guild wars 2, just buy it and you can play forever

No thanks, they can keep there game. For that price, do you get shares by the company?

This is nothing new it was announced ages ago, keep in mind, the main reason they went with a subscription based model is the surveys they did...
So many people are hating of the free-to-play model, that majority of votes said they'd prefer a subscription based model to keep out the kiddies and the newbs. Course now that they're forced to a $15/month subscription they are hating on that...

That's why I don't care for FTP. Great idea, but unless there are also servers you can pay to be on, it has a tendency to make the game not so fun.

I don't think most people have problems with subscription. But with precisely this combination:
Game is kinda expensive to buy.
You have to pay subscription to play.
Pre-ordering allows you to play any race in any alliance (what happened to the idea that they don't want to mix races and alliances?)
Imperial Edition allows you to play Imperial in any alliance.
(This one is mine) A nord fighting for Aldmeri Dominion. Right. One or two, not hundreds or thousands. LORE!
There is supposed to be a shop where you buy various stuff. = F2P games do this.
Buy to play + sub to pay + ingame store + various strange bonuses that will lead to more microtransactions. Bad. If you milk the cow too much it might stop giving milk you know! :p

"(what happened to the idea that they don't want to mix races and alliances?)"
They have never said that. In fact, when you beat your faction questline, you actually get what's essentially New Game+. You can take your Altmer and play for the Ebonheart Pact. And good. Because not doing that would have been absolutely retarded.

15$ a month is ok but 60$ for the game itself is way too much, 30$ would be totally fine. guess gonna skip it, at least in the beginning.
Comment has been collapsed.
That's not greedy. That's what WoW has been since launch.
Added: Since 2004. I think it's a great deal. Where else can you get that much entertainment for just $15 a month? Can't even go to a current movie once a month for much less than that.

I doubt he'll find one because unless they've severely changed their plan, that's not going to happen.

I really would like to play this game but I have to work one week to buy a BTA Bundle (no sh*t, a bundle BTA here costs around 100 USD) if I can barely afford a bundle how the hell I will be able to pay 15$ per month. Devs should stop thinking about money and start thinking about people who can not buy theyr games. But breasts yourselves, I smell fucktons of DLCs and microtransactions......

Okay, can you clarify something for me? According to a quick Google, the Venezuelan minimum wage is Bs 3,270. That translates to $519.70. So is your minimum wage calculated monthly rather than hourly or something? Even so, that should be more than enough for an occasional $6 expense.

Ok dude, you have to read more.... Venezuela has 2 kinds of dollars, there's the legal dollar which is pretty cheap and it's a good wage in US. AAAAAND there's the paralel dollar, which is a hell of expensive and the worst of all is that the paralel dollar is the kind of dollar that is used for everything. The legal dollar costs around Bs. 6 each one. On the other side the paralel dollar costs around Bs. 70 (no sh*t). So let's use the calculator. 3.270/70= 46 US Dollars per month... plus taxes.... In one day a normal American McDonald's worker wins more money than a Venezuelan engineer wins in a month. I work at a supermarket, I win around Bs 4000 (3.270 was the minimum a few months ago) and I can use all that money to buy food and still, my fridge won't be full. Sorry for my bad english.

Okay, now I'm just confused. Why would you have two types of money and the legal dollar is the one that's not used for everything.
Comment has been collapsed.
This country has 2 types of dollars, not 2 tipes of national money (if thats what you are asking). And we have 2 types of dollars because its almost impossible to get legal dollars, if you are not a politic person or very rich guy (or a very lucky guy) you will not receive legal dollars. The paralel dollar is easy to get but it is too expensive and even the goverment uses it sometimes. I know it sounds stupid and crazy but, Welcome to Venezuela, we have have homeland :D!

Not really sure that comment was needed as he was asking a question but with that being said I do believe this monthly cost should be lowered based on what country you live in but thats just my opinion. I live in the US and am completely able and willing to pay 15$ a month if the game is good but I know people in the same situation as yourself who aren't able to pay that monthly cost back in Europe.

And that's why I was asking for clarification, because something wasn't adding up.

They are simply abusing with prices based on the reputation of the previous games. I loved the previous ones but I will not buy this - it's a joke. They'll probably lose most of their player base in a few weeks/months after the release in my opinion because the P2P MMO system is slowly dying (even WoW started to tremble). Also I think TES is made to be a singleplayer game and it should stay that way (just a personal opinion).

Much disappointment, very sad.
EDIT: skimmed through comments, very long, much lazy

I am willing to pay 60 USD - one time purchase for a game I'm really interested in.
So far the game that has successfully drawn my 60 USD is only Diablo 3. I even paid 40 USD up front for Reaper of Soul.
For me it's a complete bargain - have gained bunch of $$$ from RMAH.
I, however, am not willing to pay monthly subs no matter how attractive the game is. This makes TESO instant pass for me.

This game gets boring as fast as GW2. I MEAN IT!, I truly mean it!
I am getting annoyed of games that rely on hype and devs that DO NOT LEARN from other companies. Good thing I didn't fall for the hype this time and haven't pre-ordered the game.
FU Bethesda!
P.S At least NCSoft were clever enough to put their game for a one time payment. This is why GW2 was somewhat "successful"

..UUUCK!
This looks like just about the only MMO I was interested in why do they have to be so friggin greedy?
MMOs should either have a one time purchase fee like guild wars, or have a subscription base fee, why both?
Will you buy it at this price? I don't think I will simply because this WoW payment module is pissing me off.
Anyone played the beta? Does it actually resemble skyrim and such gameplay wise?
source
They'll try to milk you with microtransactions too - source
TL;DR - Elder Scrolls Online will cost $60 to buy, plus $15 every month and will have microtransactions aswell.
Plus this whole 'Imperial edition' day one race DLC bullcrap, guh!
