Do you like them? or do they destroy your life? :-P

And how much did you already achieved on STEAM? (at the moment im on 1682)

Edit 1: i will try to answer all comments (i do read them all), if i miss few dont be mad....im doing my best here ^_^

Edit 2: i read in a lot of the comments about bugs and achievement synchronizing problem...any way you can use Steam Achievement Manager to delete/open achievement on steam (http://gib.me/sam/) just dont abuse it ^_^

ohh and dont use it on multi games with servers (like TF2 or CSGO) you will probably get vac for it... it should be safe on normal single player games (with no multiplayer)

So what is your relationship with achievements?

View Results
I will get them all!!!
I only bother with those i get during play through...
Those i get during playing the game, and some time i go back for few of them...
Achievements? what are they good for?
I hate them! (i play offline so i wont get them on record!)
Banana (Potato, tomato etc)

Steam's achievement system is pretty boring compared to XBL or PSN. I don't really care to do much on Steam but sometimes I cared too much when I gamed on XBL or PSN.

2,557 Achievements
33 Perfect Games
56% Avg. Game Completion Rate

I'm trying to care less about achievements now (my avg. game completion rate used to be higher) but in my heart I'm a completionist, so it's really hard.. My friends make fun of me :-( But yeah, sometimes I love achievement hunting, but mostly in the games where you get at least 50% in a normal run and then you can play again to scoop up the last ones (and it doesn't take longer than the original run to pick up the remaining ones ;-)) In those cases it's good fun, but in a lot of other cases it can be rather painful.

I've made a decision though to not replay games I didn't like too much just to get some achievements.. I mean, it's supposed to be fun and not feel like work :-)

i refuse to play a game if it doesnt have achievements,

i play games to feel accomplishment, if there are no achievements to mark my accomplishments then its pointless to play them.

also wont play games with impossible to get achievements, or games with 400+ achievements . that is just wrong to make a game that difficult

but there are so many good games with no achievements, isnt beating the game count as an achievement of accomplishments? :/

99% of the games have nearly impossible achievements to reach in one playtrough. I hardly ever replay a game so would never go back to unlock them.
Some of them force you to play in a way you wouldn't normally, so it feels pointless to me.

i can see your point, but in my case i play usually tactical games and RPG so for me it gives a window for new strategic dissensions and new builds, so im ok with it on most times (on games that i like of curse...) ^_^

I like achievements that are sensible and that reward exploration. But I absolutely hate 'do this 5000 times' and 'now beat the game again on impossible' type of achievements, and they totally ruin the game for me. Latest victim is Braid. Thought it was a pretty good game until I finished it and discovered the speed run achievement. Some of those puzzles were absolutely painful the first time around, and the mere thought of doing all of them again and again until I perfect the speed run horrifies me. Now I despise Braid. True story.

Oh, and I REALLY hate achievements that cannot be achieved in single player. Most of the time multiplayer games die before I get to them and then its impossible to attain the achievements.

I enjoy achievements, I think they add value to games, mainly, replay value. I tend to try to get them, but I'm not fanatic, so, those beyond my skill as a gamer and also my patience, I forget about them.

Two examples:

Braid, finished it with 11 out of 12 achievements. The one missing? Speed Run (Complete a full speed run, beating the challenge time.) Whaaaaaaat? Having to memorise all the levels solution and do them on one speed run? No, not for me.
Edit: just found that the above post mentions Braid in the same terms I do. :D

Super Meat Boy. Whoever played this one knows what I mean. I swear: this is one of the most difficult games I ever played. Still haven't finished. Sometimes I go back to it, finish a few more levels. But I already decided I'm not going to try 100% achievements. No way. No skill for that, or patience, or whatever. No way I'm going for the achievements "Complete level without dying" or "Unlock the Kid" (hellish level).

I like to achieve them but I am not achievement hunter. Sometimes I go back for few of them but I am not a guy to finish a game 3 times to get all achievements.

achievements like those in Xenoblade chronicles are worthy, because they give rewards for achieving them.

I don't actively hunt too many of them, but I want them in my games. Same shit with Playstation Trophies when they first started. Once I started getting a few games with them I would actively pass on games that did not include them. Same with cards on Steam. I don't care about monies, or idling, or even for the most part making badges. But if I can choose between two games that I like and one has Cards and Achievements and the other doesn't, I am going to choose the game that has the extra features.
