What a shocker, endless freebies and bought off exclusives as literally the one and only strategy to enter the market and have bootlickers shill for the platform on every forum besides Epic cuz ya know those retards can't even make their own forum isn't viable financially long term? Truly shocking, maybe even more weekly freebies and more payed for exclusives no one buys instead of any improvement to the platform will fix the $ drain!

At least spell correctly if you're going to act like a shrewd business person who knows better about the industry than people actually making money in it.
Carry on with your rant. That's what we're here for! /s

No one is acting like a business person, not sure why you are attacking the user you are replying to for a grammar mistake? Why would you take something so small and use it against them, when it is not even the topic of discussion? It is quite obvious why Epic is laying off ~16% of their employees. Are you maybe impying that we should not rant and show obvious distress against this kind of behaviour from multi-billion $ corporations? Are you maybe defending Epic and their decisions?
Comment has been collapsed.
not sure why you are attacking the user
Pointing out the user is incapable of rendering judgment about an industry they don't work in and have zero first-hand intelligence about isn't an attack.
It's a fact.
for a grammar mistake
It's misuse of a word, so not a grammar mistake.
Much worse.
I do hope you realize the difference.
when it is not even the topic of discussion?
[FREE] [Epic Games Store] List of All Weekly Free Games, Every Thursday at 11 AM ET
This is the topic of discussion.
Would you like to get back to it soon or continue being off topic?
Please check the title in case you're lost.
There's a whole section for Off topic discussions if you weren't aware.
Ranting about corporations can be done there all you want.

Who are you to judge people, insult them and render them incapable? Please refrain of using such insulting words and be more loving and compassionate towards our SG members. You do not know whether they work in the industry or anything regarding their life. If you disagree with someone you can say that in a kindly manner, explain your view and have a civil discussion instead of insulting and going against that user. You deliberately used their spelling mistake to go against them, whether you want to call that a fact, attack, malice, whatever. It was uncalled for and absolutely unnecessary.

Are you still on this?
Jeez.
Can you get back to the topic of the thread now or is that too difficult for you?

Stating facts isn't an insult.

Hi everyone,
I appreciate all of your perspectives on Epic Games' layoffs. It is clear that we all have different views on the situation, but it is important to remember that we are all here because we care about the game industry.
Let's keep the conversation respectful and focused on the topic at hand. We can learn a lot from each other if we are willing to listen to each other's perspectives.
Thanks.

Hi Wok,
You've mistaken me for someone who cares about the gaming industry and also about why I'm here.
I'm in this thread to learn about Epic freebies and Epic freebies alone. You know? The title of the thread and why it has been created and is still being updated weekly.
Anyone who feels so very compelled to talk about anything else should be respectful of other people's time and adhere to basic common sense and do so in the designated discussion thread - Offtopic.
We already have had someone come into this thread and the one before it moaning over and over about how ePiC bAd.
This digression isn't any different.
By the way, are you a moderator by any chance?
No? Oh okay.
Then I'd appreciate it if you mind your own business, respectfully of course.
I hope you're willing to listen to that perspective.
Thanks.

Next week is probably The Evil Within 2|Steam
Epic China yesterday posted this weird video with no description just a single (;꒪ꈊ꒪;) text on their social media #1 #2.
Based on the date/time on the video, it matches China Epic Games Freebie release time.
And after some searches and helps from other people, finally got the match towards the video tape sound.

Why there is not mentioned in egs that Blazing Sails is early access game? I dont want it

the Q.U.B.E bundle on Epic doesn't include the old one and its Directors Cut
Same as on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/29768
the anniversary edition on steam is also superior because it have the level editor (workshop)
The workshop only contains 17 user-created levels: https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/browse/?appid=1564220
None of these levels is popular enough to be rated. The best level is Wallbound with 2000 unique visitors. The second best level is After the Crash with 1200 unique visitors, and a single comment which mentions that the level is bugged right at the start. The third best level is Multi Layered Q.U.B.E. with fewer than 100 unique visitors. 😛
It is probably better to play QUBE 2 and its season pass than spend much time in the workshop of QUBE 1.

it is not the same. on steam there are still 4 separates games in library: Q.U.B.E., Q.U.B.E DC, Q.U.B.E 10th anniversary and Q.U.B.E 2. and not 2 only. anyway you can always create your own custom levels if those created by steam users are not enough for you

That is because you own Q.U.B.E: Director's Cut, which is not included in:
One can get the game in other bundles:
Epic Games is giving away the Ultimate Bundle.

Yes, in theory. In practice, I would probably rather play pre-made levels included in the Season Pass of QUBE 2.

Here are a few interesting statements made by Epic Games at Unreal Fest 2023.
Commitment to the Epic Games Store
Our commitment to the store is unwavering. So some of the things I want to call out to make sure that everyone knows that we're dedicated to this. Like first, the free games program's gonna continue through 2023 and beyond. I'm not ready to share additional details of what next year looks like, but we will be doing something.
--
As the store continues to scale, our aim is to contribute 30% of your titles unit sales. Given our industry-leading rev share, if we contribute 30% of your unit sales, we contribute over 40% of your PC revenue, which is why this is so important.
--
Unlike "Epic First Run", where we have not stated a date when that program will conclude, "Now on Epic" we'll only run for one calendar year. So get away, strike while the iron's hot.
--
It is essential to incorporate the Epic Game Store branding and backlink to your Epic Game Store page from all of your own channels. Please, please, please avoid the generic PC logo. Even if you're just gonna put our logo and other PC storefronts next to each other, that's fine. Just avoid the generic PC logo. It really gets me.
--
One particular scenario I like to call out regularly, don't have a store page up on another platform or storefront for months ahead of time and then throw your Epic Games Store store page up just days before. Our users will not know where they can get the game. They will default to other storefronts.
--
If you get your store page up and actively promoted at least six weeks prior to launch, you typically generate eight and a half times more revenue than if you just effectively throw it over the wall.
--
I would implore you to stay engaged with the promotions team and just make sure that you're always in constant communication knowing what's going on at the store. So when you choose to participate in promotional events, you know, it's really important to actively promote your involvement. On average, participating titles see a three and a half times revenue lift month over month when they participate in these events.
Commitment to players
With Epic Rewards, players receive a 5% grant back to them on all of their spending, which they can use at their discretion on any future transaction that uses our payment system. It's also important to note that this 5% is fully funded by EPIC and is not deducted from our partners revenue share.
--
Additionally social shopping is incredibly important to our users and other users that we talk to in the PC game space and so it's really important for us to make sure that our players know what their friends are playing and engaging with so they can make a fully informed purchase decision. So you'll start to see more social aspects start to propagate on the store throughout next year and then that way you can and we're also going to launch an activity feed so you can kind of keep track of like what your friends are up to.
Commitment to cross-play
We recently expanded that support across all major console platforms with version 1.16 this August. So this means that you are now able to use the Epic overlay across all these different supported platforms and to have players seamlessly interact with both their Epic friends as well as their native platform friends from that single UX. So they can manage their friends, they can join games, they can invite others to games, all from that same consistent experience across these different platforms and different games.
Performance improvements
Our concentration started with improving cold start times, and then we're going from there to improve systray restore timings. So I'm super stoked to say that we have reduced cold start from 13 seconds back in February to just under five seconds with our last test in August. [...] Moving forward, the next phase of work revolves around narrowing the gap in SysTray Restore, specifically SysTray Restore to library. And you can start to see all that bear fruit in 2024.
Goals for the future
Now I mentioned free a couple times and the question I always get when I talk about this stuff to anyone is, why is Epic doing this for free exactly? Like, what's the catch? And I mean, the answer really is simple. Like, there is no catch. Our goal is really to connect players and to grow communities together, which is also why we kind of pioneered that stuff for cross-play.
Some of these may be difficult to understand out of context. Feel free to ask in case something is confusing.

The app is crap so nice to hear it's getting some updates. All I care about is free games really. Sounds like par the course or a watered down version of it. Maybe more repeats (this year was bad enough with them). Pretty ambiguous statement at the end there. "Something"
I don't know how long they can keep giving games away. 5 years? 6 years?

I stopped playing Rocket League a few months ago because I finally got bored and yet I was still pissed off when I saw that news pop up on my feed on Steam, I didn't even trade that often but it was a pretty integral part of the overall experience, so reading that they removed it just because they wanna monetize cosmetics even harder was a huge disappointment. And people said not to panic back when Epic bought Psyonix, that they wouldn't screw with one of the most successful games out there.

Go against a giant and expecting to win. Steam is laughing on it's way to the bank.
Turns out buying exclusives and giving away games isn't the best sales strategy or getting people to come to your platform.
